Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix User Review
- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 20 to 40 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Old-school"
Aside from the fresh visuals, and a few very minute tweaks, this game isn't as new as Capcom might have you believe. Even the ALL NEW soundtrack is dated material mostly taken from ocremix.com
Tracks that I've had in my mp3 library for 4 or 5 years already.
The dipswitch options are virtually useless unless you're a huge nitpicker or hardcore afficianado of this dated system. The average player will toggle away and not notice any difference in gameplay.
Overall this is the same game most of us already played 15 years ago.
The new graphics are nice, but this game's true worth is really in it's various online modes which are great when you find a game that isn't riddled with lag.
This isn't like mortal kombat where you experience slowdown. Instead, you get ghosting effects, actually making it more impossible to play. There IS an option to smooth this out, but on any setting, you'll notice little to zero difference.
And for all that it is, I'm completely baffled as to why this game took so long to be completed and released.
Even SF4 made it to the arcades before this ever hit psn/xbl, and this was announced earlier than SF4.
If you've never tried SF2, or are simply feeling nostalgic, pick this one up. If you're wondering if it's worth the $15 tag, IMO not really. If you've played SF2 before, you've played it this time as well. Just ask yourself if playing it online is worth the money.
Personally, I think you'd be better off getting Bionic Commando: Rearmed.
