Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, in my opinion Capcom's greatest achievement of the series which finalized the original Street Fighter 2. How could they make it better? With this installment of HD of course!
In a nutshell the game is very much like the original but it has been cleaned up immensely. Not only are the graphics updated to make use of the PS3's 1080p output, but the gameplay and character balance has also been tweaked to greatly improve the overall gaming experience.
The most noticeable improvement for me was the controllability of the moves. The past 3-4 street fighter releases by capcom on the PS2 console were clunky, and it was very difficult to pull off the special moves for many of the characters. The company that made this game definately spent time refining the process and made the moves easy to pull off and even added in some new controller combinations to pull off some of the more awkward moves of the older titles.
The sound is good, offering different versions of the tracks in a classic and remixed fashion. I chose to stick with the tracks that were first introduced on the 3DO version of SSF2T because I like them the best.
Thankfully the voices have been redone a bit too, pulling from different versions to get the best for each character. (Guile actually sounds like a man and not a boy).
Overall the game for me gets a 10 if comparing to other street fighters. I only dock it half a point due to some of the laggyness and lack of options for the online battling mode.
Its fun, its cheap, and its just like the golden days of street fighter. If you were a fan then, buy this no doubt.
