I just finally got my copy of this too and I have to say, I love the new battle system. The past tales games were great, but it was too easy when you could constantly attack without anything making you think twice about a strat.
Started straight off on hard mode with a friend and it's been entertaining so far.

Enjoy Graces f. The first game JRPG wise I got was Eternal Sonata. Beat it before Graces f came out.
There's alot of good JRPGs on the PS3. Star Ocean 4: The last hope is pretty good too.

Favs: Xenogears, Phantasy Star, Star Ocean, Arc the Lad, Tales of Destiny 2, Suikoden, Final Fantasy
Currently playing: Grandia, Eternia, and Graces f

You're probably going to hear a lot of bad stuff about SO4, but definitely get the game and form an opinion of it for yourself. I enjoyed it, despite all of the negativity it receives. If you pick it up, have fun with it.
Oh, and congrats on getting Graces. It's a lot of fun.

Currently playing - Eternal Sonata (PS3).
Anticipating - Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 Golden.

Since you seem to enjoy games that require strategic thinking, I highly recommend Valkyria Chronicles. It can be difficult, but it's quite fun and rewarding.

eww so4
have fun with graces dude. if you need any ps3 recommendations disgaea 3 and 4 are worth picking up likely. eternal sonata if you can find it for 15 bucks and enchanted arms are good. i've heard hyper dimension neptune 2 is good though since its a lesbian loli softcore pornfest it may not be worth it.

Neptunia mk2's only good if you like cute anime girls and non-serious comedic hi-jinks. It's definitely much improved over the first game (that one was just a mess) but still just an "okay" game. It's also actually geared more towards visual novel fans than RPG fans, I feel like that's an important point. It's a visual novel with RPG gameplay and themes.
I'm still interested in following the series, though, because of how it seems like I'm watching a franchise slowly work out how to make a good game. Mk2 hammered out many more annoying gameplay kinks from the first game. The third entry in development looks like they're still committed to improving what shortcomings the games may have, with noticeable improvements in graphics (pretty weak in mk2) and good talent for music (they got Nobuo Uematsu, of FF fame, and his band on board).
That, and the fanservice.

That's one reason I dont play imports. I usually wait until the game is translated to english.
If you cant read the text and cant understand what they are saying, it's really not worth playing.
I know it takes longer because they have to translate the text plus get actors for the voiceovers.

This. Then again I like VNs so it seems its geared towards me. Haven't tried either game yet though.
