GameSpot watched the live-action Tekken movie so you don't have to. Although it could have been worse!

If I spent all that money on a film that sucked this bad... i'd throw my self of a roof! The only thing that looks good is the off button!
@ALLoY1717 Phantom Menace and the Room are better than the the Street Fighter Movie, so pulling that off isn't that difficult.
This would've been an interesting if not entertaining movie if they kept the ingame physics...I'd care way less about the plot if the characters can do an aerial combo to every competitor... One of the most offensive things I saw was Yoshimitsu's portrayal to the movie...I mean..he's portrayed as some prick willing to kill Jin for cold cash despite being one of the NICEST characters in the Tekken series.
I think it's good to keep the movie as visually faithful to the game as possible. Wild hair doesn't ruin a movie; bad acting and lack of plot does. It's good to know what games have a plot capable of adaptation to a movie. Then it would be good to let the movie have it's own world - not to try to "ground" it in our own reality.
This film is truly awful. Hihatchi is portrayed as a senile old man while Kazuya is a total loser/ wuss. The fight scenes are awful and the acting is non existent. The only thing worth watching this film for is Christies trouser line (Her ass half hangs out during the hole film). Please dont waste money on this garbage. This reviewer obviously has no taste.

@kenmanius Some do create feature films, but it doesn't happen very often indeed. Also not necessarily in the more realistic CGI. But I agree to your idea, they could use motion-capture for example. They already use that in games like 'Uncharted', except the animations will be used to rendered in real-time and not completely polished and super-tight and hi-res like with movies. And movies like 'Beowulf' just look amazingly realistic and they can bring anything to life, including video-game characters. So I definitely thing that mocap would work for something like Tekken, although I don't necessarily would want to see a movie of Tekken, it can be done. Live-action can be done too, IF you do it right. They just can't seem to deviate from the "B-movie"-like looks and acting for some reason. It's all in the way you make it look, the way you shoot it, and who you cast and that you bring a chemistry into the process. Lower budget movies have worked better because of pure acting and chemistry. Pretty images, high action stunts and all that, don't make a good movie. It needs to be interesting, have a certain charm... all that kind of stuff...
I don't understand the need to make live action adaptations of everything when CG seems to leave more room for the larger than life personas and effects of these franchises. And don't all these games have some of the best CG you've ever seen? Doesn't Disney make a slew of money off yearly CG movies? Why aren't the game makers using their own talent and creativity to do these adaptation? Is 40 mil not enough to make a decent full length feature film?

The biggest problem in Video Game adaptation in movies is not the Budget, its the right people. In this era where fans can access a limited options to create their own movie, we can behold a promising results. Such as MGS Philanthropy, or Mortal Kombat Legacy or even the Street Fighter Legacy. Since we fans always complains on what we are getting, why not hand it to the fans? If the result is still bad, then I will stick to the 3D movies they are making.
lets face it, unless the commentators have english accents, there is no entertainment value.
Even though I'm sure that Tekken the movie and Mortal Kombat had the same budget. Mortal Kombat still wins by a landmark...Mortal Kombat Annihilation, not so much :/

the movie was a total failure and an insult to tekken fans around the world, even the big sony guy said he would see some heads roll over how they squandered the budget on a movie full of suck. There's a few animated tekken movies that beat this hollywood wannabe thing by a few lightyears. If you really into Tekken series i suggest you check those out. Heihachi and kazuya dont even look the part in this piece of crap. They'd better used the millions to improve the in-progress tekken 7
Almost finished watching the vid........... I would never want to watch a movie with this guy! He seems like one of those people that doesn't pay attention to what's being said during the opening credits, and would probably try to tell me that all of Tarantino's movies make perfect sense. BTW, if he liked "The Quest", he can't really say too much about this movie, i liked it as well and can admit it's pretty crappy.
I finally saw this movie after a co-worker said it was pretty decent and let me borrow it. Considering the fact that he likes "Batman Forever" and "Batman and Robin" more than the last two Nolan films, I was prepared to punch him in the face the next time I saw him at work. Turns out the movie isn't that bad at all, damned near perfect when you realize that most of the budget probably went to the few actors you've seen before. There wasn't a single "OMFG, Blanka is really Charlie" moment like the Street Fighter movie.
tekken is a good movie, i don't know what this guy is talking about, he speaks like a zombie almost dying,
"an engagingly kinetic quality" ?? I bet if the X360 didn't get the Kinect, the word 'kinetic' wouldn't have been used...
Why aren't there firey red splashes when someone hits someone else in the movie? Because that doesn't happen when you hit someone!! lol

i dont see why they made such a big deal out of heihachi's hair, its not even over the top. i think it suits a tyrant to be a little eccentric
Though this was okay, I still have to say that the reviews for both the Tekken movies (yeah... both of them) on the Spoony Experiment are far superior and utterly hilarious, as cringe worthy as seeing the movie clips is. XD
this film is not that bad, its an alright pop corn flick, that uses elements from the games. Really... have you really sat down and listened to the tekken story, its all over the place, because it can cos its a game. in a film you are limited to only elements, even the new cgi tekken film was abit all over the place but again only choose to focus on certain characters. yes this film had a low budget and no one from the A-list and acting was mmmm. its a film based on tekken, and used its own twists. personally i dont see the point in making a film from a game only to be exactly like the game, just play the game in you want that.
