The Beatles: Rock Band User Review

- "Best in series"
When I first got The Beatles: Rock Band I didn't have very high hopes it'd be good. I loved The Beatles music and thought it'd be fun to play it in their own game, but after playing the Guitar Hero "band exclusive" games I was afraid it was nothing more than a few downloadable content packs put on one disc and packaged with The Beatles on the cover.
As soon as the story starts there is an overwhelming amount of quality that will shock any players eyes. The animations in the background look so 60's and all the band members ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE THEY DID IN REAL LIFE. Not like how Guitar Hero makes it look all cheesy and cartoon-like, you get real looking characters in a band game. A pleasant and genius design.
The songs in this edition of Rock Band are mostly easy, but that gives the game that overall experience you're looking for. It's not about the challenge when it comes to The Beatles it's about the music. The beautiful sounding, original, classic music. Although most the songs aren't too challenging they sometimes have parts to them that change it up a bit (like solos) and there's the occasional song that offers a challenge. But one thing you don't hear a lot about is the songs that are included on the game. There are no other bands on this game, which make it a true "band exclusive" title, unlike the Guitar Hero rip-offs. And for the most part all of the songs that most people associate The Beatles with are on this game. In fact, only a few aren't on the disc. But most likely the song that's missing is in the hefty amount of downloadable content this game has. Very well supported by Harmonix, which makes the game even more of a good quality title.
The story in this game takes you through the entire Beatles career offering most of the important stops along the way. If the band is on stage the camera goes out into the crowd to show the player some teenage girls screaming their lungs out while the guy on the left turns at them and looks at them with the annoyed "Please can it" face. But when the band's in the studio that's where this game shines. It takes you to multiple dreamscapes where the band is either playing in a field of flowers, or for example dressed up in a walrus suit. But all in all it feels perfect, all venues feel right and the entire game seems to go with some sort of flow that makes the experience "just right" and "light and enjoyable at any time".
Final Verdict: This is a must have for any Beatles fan. So many memorable moments in this game that just reak of time and quality. Something we should all find a way to enjoy. Harmonix worked hard on this title, putting a lot of time into it..and time shows, especially in this case.

Even though The Beatles: RB is fun and has a well-intentioned heart, the final product feels like a wasted opportunity.
