Greg Kasavin takes you inside The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for the Xbox 360.
Guys I have this for pc but if I wanted to play it on console which version would you recommend ? Is there any graphical or content difference ?
I think its funny how people who didn't play much of this game say that level scaling was a major problem taht everybody hated when really it was something that nobody really cared about or noticed until somebody else metioned it
Just killing time, thought I would watch the review, Greg was the best at reviewing, I would love to see a video review of Skyrim from him, even if he just did it and posted it on Youtube or something. I think I put about 300ish hours in this game, back then there wasn't as many other great games to play, and loved every minute of it. Killer game and great review, Skyrim is just around the corner, and THAT game will be a 10.
@Carpe_Noctum This is way past your comment and way after Skyirm came out but Greg Kasavin did a 24 hour marathon of playing Skyrim on GiantBomb right before it was released. It was really entertaining to watch him play the game. I hope he does the same when Elder Scrolls 6 is released in a few years
This game deserves a 10. It's literally one of, if not the best, RPG on the 360. GTA 4 recieved a 10 so how didn't this?
Got the 5 Year Anniversary Edition several days ago. Great game! You can definitely see how much it influenced Fallout 3. My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner. Can't wait for Skyrim on November 11!
@shoot-first no there is a quest for the vampire cure and qith the goty edition you cant finish it and youll be stuck as a vampire
Since I've been living under a rock all this time finally purchased The game of the year addition looking forward on this while i wait on The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim
i bought this game a few months back because i heard from alot of people it was really good, and ill be honest at 1st when i tryed it, it was not really that fun to me, so i didnt play it for awhile, than one day i decided to pop it in to give it another chance, now its amazing and very addictive! haha i havent stopped playing it for weeks now, great game really
@MasterDalton I'm not making you repeat yourself. I understand your logic, but no. A perfect game isn't necessarily the best game, which is why RDR won GOTY instead of SMG2 even though SMG2's rating was better. SMG2 is a fun and perfect overall game, but I would much rather play another game over it. The Force Unleashed 2 was rated poorly because the original game had great potential, but failed. Then when TFU2 came out, people were hoping the game would be better, but it wasn't. The game was not marked down necessarily because it was too much like the last one, but because it was worse. On the other hand, SMG2 was given a 10 because it took everything that SMG had and built on top of it, basically making it an expansion. I won't deny that GameSpot's reviewers can be a bit confusing and @$$-backward, but I guarantee they know more about what they are talking about than you and I put together.
@TheColeMichael hm no that doesn't work though. In the eyes of Gamespot for example the forced unleashed 2 recieved a 6.5 because it was too much like the last one. Now explain to me how galaxy 2 doesn't get the same treatment? Isn't that favouritism? Thanks for making me repeat myself
Skyrim is going to be awesome because its going to be true Bethesda, and has been since they started making it. From the previews, and what little game play we have seen so far it is looking like Oblivion+Morrowind...which in my book is going to be an epic game. All I can say is i am extremely grateful they decided to do Skyrim on their own, not pass it off to the B- rated Obsidian Studios.
This game owns. Best rpg evermade, and Skyrim looks like it will even be more epic than this. And Greg Kasavin was without a doubt the best reviewer Gamespot ever had. Anyone with future ambitions to work in videogame journalism -- take note from the greatest. : )
@MasterDalton A 10/10 review is actually given to a game with nothing wrong with it. Think about it, if you take a test and make no errors, even if is the same as the test that came before it, you receive a 100%. Any game that is not given a 10 obviously must have something partially wrong with it, even if it is very small. This is why SMG 2 earned a 10/10, because the game has no true flaws. Sure it might not be what you are looking for in a game, but there is no denying that it is an incredible 3D platformer.
@MasterDalton Force Unleashed 2 was most likely marked down because it wasn't as good as the first game but anywho... Would you say that Gears of War 2 is the same as Gears of War 1? I could understand why you would say yes, but I would say no because Gears of War 2 is better. And not just graphically. The pacing, the design, the story, the difficulty tuning, etc. are quite a bit better making for a noticeably better experience. This, to me at least, says different. The same goes for SMG 2. I feel like SMG 2 is a much better game than the first due to the design and pacing. Also, there is plenty of new stuff that comes in the form of Yoshi and new suits. These new power ups mean that there are new types of level desgin to accomodate the new suits. So, on the surface it's the same, but once you really look at it, it's actually different. And I'm pretty sure that Pong would have been given a 10/10 review in 1977.
@chinakat 10/10 is not reserved for games simply with nothing wrong with them. Is Pong 10/10? No. But by your logic it should be. Gamespot always mark games down for not changing much from the previous game (for example force unleashed II). SMG2 was exactly the same as the first. If SMG1 got a 10 and 2 didn't I wouldn't be as annoyed. This game was one of the best of this generation where-as smg2 is nothing new
@MasterDalton Because Mario Galaxy 2 is pretty much flawless and Oblivion isn't. Oblivion is amazing, but framerate hitches, object pop up, and some glitches like getting stuck between two rocks, keep the game from being 10/10 worthy. Whereas SMG 2 dosen't really have any problems, and in my opinion it's the most well designed 3-D platformer to date. That's 10/10 worthy.
How in the world did this game not get a 10/10 and Super Mario Galaxy 2 did??!?! Makes no sense what-so-ever.
I just recently bought this game for the first time, and Greg is the greatest factor of why I did. I miss him so much! He is an incredibly gifted reviewer and gamer. Greg please come back!
@lionclaw20 I agree. I liked the way Greg Kasavin reviewed games. He goes through all the features and tells you what he likes and dislikes without sounding like a salesman. Lots of reviews now sound too much like commercials.
i really like the roleplaying in this but i just suck to much at the combat to really ever enjoy it.
I regret selling this game... I sold it after owning it for 2.5 years... Playing it... Almost everyday... During the time I owned it...
gamespot should seriously ask greg kasavin to do the review of skyrim for old times sake. I mean seriously i think he can take a little bit of a break from spec ops the line to review the soon to be greatest rpg of all time!!!!
I realy didn't like this game, one of the worst I've ever played... I'll probably get a lot of thumbs down for this but it's just my opinion.
