The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Dawnguard User Review
- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 10 Hours or Less
- The Bottom Line:
- "Almost, but not quite"
***Spoilers***
I have played Skyrim for over one hundred hours now, and at the point that I bought Dawnguard I had played over eighty. I went in expecting a pretty extravagant add-on.
I joined the Dawnguard, and I was very impressed by the fortress and what not, but the story itself was not very compelling, and you really only got one or two special weapons excluding the crossbow, which was a nice add-on. I beat the main story line in probably under 10 hours which disappointed me as a much longer quest line was promised (This could be due to the fact that I have played on too easy of a difficulty). There were many fun parts, and many new and interesting creatures to fight, but beyond that, there was not much more added.
The follower you get is very helpful, but her few remarks begin to wear quickly. It would appear that Bethesda tried to improve the AI of Skyrim with this follower, because she does things like alchemy, but it is worthless because you get nothing out of it.
I really enjoy Skyrim, but Oblivion had better expansions (even including the house add-ons).

A sloppy DLC that should have been a lot better than it is.

The random vampire encounters and attacks on the roads have made me immerse completely into it. Nice for the 1st DLC.

Best part is crafting arrows & Dragonbone weapons, new Shouts, but story, NPC's & places are great.

Three Skyrim bard voices performing The Dragonborn Comes simultaneously. I recorded all the video, except of course the Fus Ro Dah from the official trailer.Posted Dec 11, 2011
