Dunno about the smithing, but for enchanting, the best advice I can give is put soul trap on your weapon. Only needs 1 sec, so your killshots insta-trap. Also Azuras/Black Star will be handy. I went with Black myself. Easy grand souls.

Basically pick up random crap like clothes and stuff with no value, enchant it, sell it. Rinse and repeat. Or enchant all those iron daggers you'll be making. (I prefer to make leather bracers myself)

I think you'd have to create a new character for that to work, cause I'm not sure you'd not be able to load your lvl 21 character if it was already saved under the latest patch... I could be wrong though. It might be worth a go.

The previous poster's tips on enchanting was mostly what I did, and it worked well.

It's worth noting that activating the mage stone will give 20% to enchanting xp, and can help a lot.

Disenchanting items also gains you xp as well as learning more profitable enchants, as not all enchantments are as valuable as each other. When enchanting, look at the created item stats and make sure you use the most expensive selling enchant you currently have available.

I also bought every common or smaller soul gem from every merchant I could find, whether they were filled or not, and enchanted weapons once I'd filled em all up - mostly iron daggers - with Banish Daedra or Paralyze. The return from selling these more than paid for the investment in soul gems and items I bought for disenchanting.

I found myself aiming for less profitable enchantments, so I could sell them all without having to reload merchant gold. But for pure grinding, I guess the more valuable enchantments are better.

Fortify Archery is pretty common and pays well for apparel. Or Fortify Carry Weight is worth a bit more, but I didn't find it until quite late into my game. For weapons, Absorb Health is available on Drainlife weapons in Labrynthian. That sells for a fair amount until you can find a Banish Daedra enchantment.

It's not that Smithing is "harder" it's just they removed what was essentially an exploit. Before, everything you made gave the same skill exp, so 5 or 6 iron daggers made out of a iron ingot and strip of leather gave you a level, through every level of smithing. Now you get skill improvement based on the value of what you make or improve. Valuable items like headgear and body armor are now good for exp, and jewelry stands out. Using an ingot to temper valuable items (say orcish and ebony body armor type items) also gives useful exp.

I did this you can level it up fast but you can't use your lvl 21 char since he was on the latest patch, you'd have to make a new one.

Turn off your internet connection in the xmb if you delete your game installation. Not sure how that affects any save games btw. When you install the game and start over your should be 1.0v. Make sure you disable your internet connection in the xmb everytime you boot the game, or it will update
