@grim0187 so you're mad because developers allow users to have more options than not? I'd prefer having the option of downloading mods over never having the chance to ever. and if I was the modding type I sure as hell would want to have the ability to create whatever I wanted. there are plenty of amazing dungeons, visual effect tweaks, weapon sets, general preference changes, map views, helpful gathering additions (like glowing ore veins), tons of entirely new awesome spells, weather effects, user interface changes, and much much much more. you're not going to convince me that modding is lame, because I'll always take freedom of choice over being limited to what I can do/experience in a game. it's a shame that you don't respect that freedom of choice and proceed to troll anyone who has an opposing viewpoint.

Can't wait... reminds me of the good old days of Battlefield 1942 and Battlecraft with Editor42...

@THUGDRAFT Sorry, buddy, but I just dont agree with you. You can make up any excuse you want for the joke mods in the video. That IS what most mod searches consist of. I know they make joke mods "because they can." Thats part of the problem. Out of 25 top mods, that other guy could only give me 5 that werent joke mods. 5! That means the rest are penis swords and photoshopped human heads and giant pits with every creature in the game in it. No thanks. If I wanted that, I would go play Little Big Planet. Hell, some of the levels those kids create are more mature then most mods I see.

@grim0187 - You need to just stop typing. The mods gallery in this video were, in fact, joke mods. As in, Bethesda made up some fake mods to showcase in the video in the gallery since the gallery isn't available yet. The Skyrim Nexus has been showcasing mods since the game was first released in mid-November. Professional programmers and artists have used their free time to come up with very useful tools as well as fun and/or goofy things just because they can. It's a community that, for that alone, is worthy of praise and respect. You sir, simply have no idea what you're talking about.

@SlowMotionKarma I havent updated my GS profile in like...3 years. What do you think Im typing on? I have a gaming rig PC. I can get mods. Point is, I dont enjoy mods and think most of them are a waste of time. Specifically because all people seem to do is make joke mods, with the rare exception of someone actually making something usefull. Because we all have to be witty and sarcastic.

@lindallison Yeah. IM the one whose butthurt when I got like 6 responses telling me how stupid and wrong I am. That makes all kinds of sense. FFVII is one of my fave games of all time.

@Unfallen_Satan Steam Workshop is optional. Essentially it's just an alternative mod host that would be slightly more convenient for some. Specifically, those new to mods. There will be no difference in mods from the workshop or anywhere else. Using and uploading mods to other sites (like Nexus) will still be possible and supported. It's just a little something extra they decided to do.

@grim0187 Weird, I've never seen someone butt-hurt over the idea that someone somewhere is making mods. Nice Cloud picture btw.

This is all well and good as long as Steam Workshop is optional. I will not permit a third non-government-entity to regulate the kind of content I can enjoy. Although I use mods for additional quests, locations, and AO content, I got into it mainly for AO content to spice up gameplay. Even if the vast majority of modders and mod users move to Steam Workshop, I feel content as long as I can still use the risque mods I get off Nexus. That also brings up an issue of compatibility between using SW and non-SW mods. Of course, my priority is still on content that Bethesda cannot easily make due to legal constraints and not extensions of conventional gameplay. I am eager to see how to will pan out.

@Metallic_Blade Speechless. Bethsoft is the game dev I love to hate. But one point I give 'em grudging respect for is their distribution of Creation Kits. Would you rather they NOT give the community the tools to make new content? They spend their time and resources polishing up the CK's for ease of use, it's not like they just chuck it into the ether while flipping the bird. The CK's are a gift they don't have to give.

Oh, what's that Bethesda? You don't feel like fixing all of the bugs in the game, but rather let the modders do your bidding instead? Big shock. The same crap happened with Oblivion. So once again, Bethesda is giving the consumers the finger of "Go fix our mess yourselves". Whatever... lets now just wait when someone will do (once again) a complete game overhaul with 1000+ bugs fixed that Bethesda just happened not to even bother fixing.

@soolkiki ALL you see are joke mods. Thats it. You have to dig for the good stuff and even those dont work half the time. Modding is childish and a joke at best.

So looking forward to this, finally there will be decent mods made. Know there are mods out there that are ok, but without a proper toolkit they could never be aaa+ grade.

Maybe someone will make an overhaul now and remove the level scaling, making Skyrim a proper RPG like Morrowind was...

This is the missing piece that brings this game from a 9.5 to a solid 10.0 for me. Let the modding begin ! Thank you so very much Bethesda, you guys are awesome.

I love PC gaming :) -Modding rules. If you get a large, open world, heavily moddable game like a Bethesda rpg on anything but PC, you're only getting half the game. Mods add so much content- new guilds, towns, buildings, adding to existing ones, new armors/weapons, yes, you can see the funny stuff too, nice to have a light side as well, but it's pretty much endless -the content that comes from mods. All hail the modders of the world- Thanks for the kit Bethesda, looking forward.

Wow, this looks awesome! Is there a way for modders to get paid through this system by the way? I think that would attract more talent...

I hope Bethesda does with this what Valve is doing with TF2. All of the outstanding mods that the community makes that are balanced and fit will be added as official content, kind of like a small patch. Whether that be a new sidequest that unlocks a legendary weapon or some new armor. I think this could really add to the size and replayability of the game.

I love Bethesda for this very reason. The modding community for Oblivion was amazing, this probably will be even better. Cant wait!

Glad I'm a PC gamer. I love this stuff.

Can't overstate how incredible this is. Most developers these days not only don't support their products after release, but also tend to scorn modders and keep their games a closed book. The fact that they made their entire toolset public is incredible. This is why I love bethesda.

@grim0187 Obviously you have never visited a real modding website. Skyrim Nexus is one huge one and the mods there, more often than not, create better armor, questions, fix game issues, increase graphics, and a plethora of other things. Of course there will be the humorous things, but more often than not, you'll see stuff that is truly amazing.

@gial240 MS would never allow it, and and the Sony... Hmm, actually the PS3 could take advantage of mods created for PC, but only if they changed the PS3 ver. to use steamworks... Either way, it's MS and Sony's fault. The purpose of consoles, after all, is to have the kind of control PCs don't afford them.
