KoF 2000 and 2001 are great fighting games and they are both on this budget priced title.
KoF fighting games have an enjoyable style. Both of these games are 2D fighting games.I guess you could say the KoF 2000 and 2001 are not much different to the Street Fighter games, but they have their own style of moves their own style of diverse characters.
In KoF 2000 and 2001,some of the characters include Terry Bogard(who can attack his opponent with a powerpunch style move and he can shoot projectiles that travel along the ground and his agility and basic moves make him a good all around character).Joe Higashi is a kickboxer from Japan and can attack you with some fast kneeing attacks.Maxima an ex soldier with cyborgetic implants who has an extremely powerful punch attack and there's less delay time after he does it compared with Terry Bogard's powerpunch so it leaves him less vulnerable if he misses but Maxima is a lot less agile than Terry and cannot do projectile attacks. There's small, very fast agile female characters. There's big characters(including one who carries a giant, metal ball)who can pound you with sheer strength.Andy Bogard is Terry's brother and uses ninjitsu. There's a character named Ryo who uses a style similiar to Street Fighter's shotokan style.Mai is a female character who also uses fans as melee and projectile weapons.
Both games have similar gameplay, but KoF 2001 has better character artwork and slightly better graphics and a different story and bosses.
You can fight one on one or in teams of 4.
In team mode you cannot do tagteam style. When a character is Koed the next character in order takes over.So you could lose every round except for the final round and still win a battle. You can customize your team's order and you'll see the order of the opposing team so you can adjust the order of your characters to make a character fight an opponent who they're more suited to fighting against. Some characters are hard to master against normal opponents but they have abilities which make them very effective against the overpowered bosses,so it will be beneficial to have those characters in your team.
The fighting environments aren't the most crisp looking, but they come in good variation from Asian style streets, tropical, next to an aquarium, inside asian style buildings,in industrial/construction zones,in the snow etc.
The characters have a unique style.Terry wears a baseball cap and jeans.Maxima always walks with a very straight back and his movements are stiff which suits his cybernetic features. Some characters wear different types of traditional martial arts outfits.Mai is beautiful and volouptous and dresses a bit revealing and you'll see her bust bouncing during battles. There's characters who dress in formal clothing.
You'll see good effects such as characters catching on fire, not just in orange flames but even in purple flames depending on the type of energy they were hit by.
The sound effects don't go over the top like in other fighting games and it makes these 2 fighting games have a nice serious feel. The voices from the female characters are cute and the male characters sound angry.
Overall-This title great package for people who love fighting games.
