People are stupid. "They aren't going to buy games if the female is on the cover"? Really? Have they ever heard of Tomb Raider?

The reason they're sticking with Ellie.. is because she rocks at life. hah. She is the one who gets the Sniper rifle after all.. Naughty Dog is a great game company, already had this done and pre-ordered before the first gameplay even released, let alone the trailers.

The idea of video games is that one immerses themselves as they were the protagonist themselves. Most gamers are males and cannot relate to a young female to represent themselves. Communications 1000 course.

+1 for sticking it to the man! (with a girl) I for one will be purchasing this game. Anything from NG is worth the bucks.

Tomb Raider.  There's my heroine that sells games by being on the cover.

If a game is good it should sell regardless, that said however there are a lot of games out there in the world which don't have the budget for mass advertisement.  In these situations the box-art clearly needs to be attractive and show the game at it's best.

It's a sad truth if genders really do affect game sales, but then there's some parts of the world where it actually wouldn't surprise me.  That's how screwed up our planet still is :/

I blame the clowns who are paid to look into the ridiculous  statistics that reveal games with men on the covers tend to sell more than those with women, but then one of those games is, say, Metal Gear Solid, a fucking masterpiece. Who gives a rat's ass about a female or male cover? If the box art is attractive, that's all that matters. If a little girl with a rifle as tall as her staring hopelessly into the distance doesn't intrigue you, you're a tool. That being said, is it really that hard for a suit to appreciate art when they see it? How disconnected from reality are these people? Gender should have no place in the conversation of what is going to be on the box art much less at the forefront of the box art.

So now even the boxart of a game can stir controversy

I have to agree. Its not the cover that makes the sale for real gamers. Its the game itself that I look to before I purchase a game. If the game looks good I buy it. Aka if there is a wicked game I love the videos of gameplay and/or demo ect. Id buy it even if it was a Pure pink, Feminine cover... why? Because like I said its the gameplay itself that makes the sale for me plus the fact that I just throw the disc into a Thick multi game case for better use of space and to make it easier to move around.Honestly if you purchase games simply because of the cover then your going to end up with alot of bad games.

@Dexodrill But sadly, most publishers aren't making the games for gamers, but for anyone who is willing to pay them.
