I'm on the cusp of finishing my first playthrough and have been considering how to keep my BR at a minimum the second time around so as to make better use of later recruits (and ideally acquire the Seven at a low enough BR to fully integrate a couple of them into my party). I understand getting your unions KO'd reduces BR gains for that battle, but I've never seen any actual numbers thrown around when the subject gets discussed. Is there an "ideal" number of KO's one should achieve before finishing a fight? Also, does the length of a battle reduce BR gains?

You want numbers? Sure, you can have some numbers:

It's quite variable since it depends on what you're facing. Once you get enough KOs, it doesn't get any lower than about 7~8 EXP, assuming that you're fighting against 1 union. Haven't bothered checking against multiple unions yet, but it should follow much the same pattern, albeit higher ending total because of the increased number of unions. I would say that getting at least 20 KOs would be a good start.
Not too sure about Turn count. Might actually increase final BR EXP. I wouldn't be too concerned about BR EXP if you're looking at turn counts. I would try to keep fights at 30 turns or less. Once you start Turn 31, you're just wasting your time as all further EXP gains are 0.

Ah, thank you! That information was exactly what I needed. My party members probably aren't so appreciative though--they'll be dropping like sacks of potatoes 24/7 now that I've got some figures.
By the way, I've seen your posts come up many times while poking around other topics, and I'll have you know you're the most helpful poster on GameFAQs that I've seen in a long while. Thank you, and keep up the good work.
