Each one has their fans, and each has people that don't like it. Just because the more vocal people like those games and dislike SS, does that mean that SS I hated? No, it means that certain people feel they have to whine about it. Those who shout loudest will be heard best; people who liked SS don't feel the need to go on about it, they liked it. However, the people that didn't (and there are many) constantly take time to b**** about it. The people that liked the game are probably too busy playing it to sit and argue about it.

I read your comment the first time. It doesn't change anything.

People who dislike MM are vocal about it, people who dislike WW are vocal about it, people who dislike TP are vocal about it. In the end, SS is the least liked, and for good reasons too, unlike the crap that WW and MM haters bring up.

Despite the fact that all the problems I read about SS that apparently everyone has, I have had none of. The motion controls worked well and were integrated well. The areas were well designed and fun to explore. The fetch quests were not all there was to the game, in fact they were hardly noticeable. SS was brilliant, and I couldn't find many flaws. Just because some don't like SS, doesn't mean it's rubbish. These flaws people find in other games that you like are all rubbish, yet when you dislike the game any and every flaw becomes true? That's really unbiased!

I have realized that all of the newer Zelda games after Four Swords Adventures and Minish Cap have sucked royally.

Here's the thing; I was raised on Sony and never had a Nindendo console until the Wii came out.

Wind Waker is one of the greatest games ever made. Hoping the HD Remake does it justice.

GHExpert123, it seems you're asking why you don't enjoy the other Zelda games as much as Skyward Sword.

One thing Skyward sword did differently than the other 3D Zelda games was the nature of the puzzles. There's less reliance on items and "block-pushing" puzzles. It's a little more simplistic, which some people like and some people hate. I actually like the action mechanics in Skyward Sword, but I can understand fans who say the puzzle solving and exploration has been dumbed down.

There's also a lot of narration in Skyward Sword. More so than any other Zelda game. For fans of the older games, it slows down the pacing. But I still don't think it's as bad as the exposition in Twilight Princess.

Skyward Sword is a game that focuses on accessibility for new players. It is also one of the most linear games in the Zelda series. Some older fans call this a radical departure from the series, as previous games required more exploration and experimentation. But I don't personally think that's the case. Nor is linearity necessarily a bad thing. Link's Awakening, for example, was fairly straightforward. If you can try it out, I think you'd like it. If you can handle a melancholic tone and a slow start, you might also want to give Majora's Mask another try.

On the internet, at least, that IS the general fan consensus. I can't really speak for anywhere else, but if you can't see that SS is the most hated 3D Zelda on the internet, then there's some huge bias going on here.

Where do you get that from? A quick search on the two different most active zelda boards revealed these two polls where the consensus doesn't conclusively show that at all.

well thats cuz this is skyward sword, its hard to enjoy

Which is the exact opposite sentiment that the TC expressed.

    @General Consensus Debate

There's one thing people should remember.

Fans are more likely to vocally complain about something than they are to vocally praise it. This isn't an "entitlement" thing, but rather a simple fact of life. When you encounter something you don't like, you're more likely to make a complaint about it. When you encounter something you do like, you're more inclined to sit there and enjoy it.

For example, let's say you're eating at a restaurant. Five people get steak. Four people find that they enjoy it. They might say to themselves, "Oh, this is good!". But the fifth person finds his steak to be bland and over/undercooked to the point where it's not enjoyable at all. What does he do? He goes online and writes a review, saying "Their steak was bland and not cooked right. Don't shop here."

Now, repeat this process about... 500 times. You suddenly have 500 complaints about steak. Okay, that sounds like a lot. But then there were also 2000 people who enjoyed the steak. That's even more. But then only 10% of these people might actually make the effort to write a review. So you have 500 complaints and 200 praises.

Same with any video game. Now, granted, sometimes, the steak is flat-out rotten. And sometimes the game is legitimately terrible. I don't feel Skyward Sword is one of these games.

Any "general consensus" is a mere illusion. Skyward Sword is most likely enjoyed as much as Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask are. Both of those games received pretty much this amount of flack for being too different or too similar to previous games, and so has Skyward Sword.

When the next game comes out, people will stop bashing Skyward Sword as much and move onto the next one to complain about that one, saying Skyward Sword is better than that game. The cycle will continue for the rest of humanity.

I will note that any time a series undergoes a significant change, the complaints tend to be the loudest, because "It's Different Now It Sucks" is often used as the basis of most complaints in that situation. Just look at the Skyrim boards, LOADS of complaining about things that are simply different. Oblivion used to have those people, and now most of them have moved onto Skyrim.
