June 2009, hell, it's already been that long? Wondering if it's too late to try this, if I would be wasting time better spent in newer games. From watching this review and that of Sims Medieval, only now, I realize I should've tried this rather than aforementioned other one.
Might look up on all the expansions however. The Sims may be a controversial series that shamelessly leaves content out of the original to purposely cash in on expansions, but whatever the case, maybe some of the latest deliver not only extra content but also visual improvements, for instance.
Checked for a steam page for The Sims 3, out of curiosity. There is one. Apparently it sells there... for 45?. That's rather... sigh, shameless. With the expansions costing between 20 to 40?. Or DLCs, as it were... listed as such, on the page. Holy Hell, they number 17 so far, with a total price of 520?. This is pretty much what I meant when I mentioned the controversy. So much fame and popular this series enjoys, but among those that steer clear, it's outright hated. Not so much for what it just is, but the commercial practices EA employs on it. Like VanOrd implied, this game appeals to both gamers and non-gamers, chalking it up to simply put the casual gamer audience. A very big audience, and to take advantage of that in this way... just shameless.
