The Kayran Tenticles

There are other worlds than these.
It seems that the tenticles won't get trapped. They land on my traps but only one out of every 30 times will the tenticle ever get trapped. Is there something I need to do to get the tenticles trapped. I cast the trap spell, stand on it wait untill the last second dodge the tenticle, it hits the trap, but doesn't get trapped. Any help would be apprieciated.

you can only trap the tentacles that have the orange growth things. Stand in front of those and cast the spell

yup you can only trap 4 of the tentacles. 2 on each side, not the 2 in the middle.
