The writing in this game is terribly overrated.

The end of Red Dead was perfect....it was called REDEMPTION. Kind of a hint that the ending was maybe going to be bad and when it was, you felt really bad for him.
Redemption would hint at something completely different. The fact that *spoilers* you not only die, but your son becomes an outlaw which is exactly what you wanted to prevent the entire game means that everything you did in the game was utterly pointless. *end spoilers*

http://www.last.fm/user/Mack64Yeah "redemption" doesn't hint at anything bad, it suggests he was going to make things right. Do you not know what redemption means?

[This user waits for his game to be 'torn apart' with arguments about why it isn't good at all, and another game is better.]

Good writing generally causes the audience to care about the story.Seeing as how the game's been praised for it's by almost all editorial reviews of the game as well as by consumers, I'd say it succeeds.
The localization does seem to make for some very cliche dialogue and unnecessary profanity.I personally thoroughly enjoy it... gives the world a very unique, yet more grounded feel. I still find the constant use of the term 'ploughing' hilarious, but I've kinda just taken it as part of the game world at this point. Whether or not it's a commonly used term in Poland I don't know, but I enjoy it.
He is borderline emotionless, that is correct; however, the little he shows he feels is still outrageously out of character for a Witcher.I don't have an objection to Geralt's acting as I kind of figured something like this was the case, but having not read the novels I wasn't fully aware. Good to know.
The writing itself isn't amazing, but it feels gritty and realistic. People speak honestly and without tact. It seems to fit the setting.This.
No, it's not the best-written game ever, yeah, sometimes the dialogue isn't the best. For the most part, I'm fine with the voice acting, if nothing else my largest issue is with the facial animation. Definitely lacking. Regardless, I've read none of the novels, haven't played the first game, and am undoubtedly enjoying the story. Have a pretty good handle on what's going on today, except for some minor confusion on Ciri (i.e. who she is exactly). I am so interested in the story, in fact, that I want to go out and get The Last Wish and Blood of Elves, and am questioning why it's taken so damn long for the other books to get translated to english.
