Difficulty:
Hard
Time Spent:
20 to 40 Hours
The Bottom Line:
"Almost, but not quite"
Before i start i wish to note, i did play the first Witcher so i due have clues at the story and possibility to compare and comment regarding its gameplay, graphics and so on.

At the matter at hand, for the PC users i must warn you, its absolutely necessary to have very powerful Computer, not for the graphics, but for simply having Lagfree experience. Also, update the game to 1.2. I had Geforce 9800, 3 Gb ram, and Dual Core 2.16 Ghz, and it worked even on low settings like a backed up toilet. Only after getting Quad Core + another 1 Gb ram it worked WAY better. So due be carefull PC users.

So lets start with whats praised most, the Graphics, yep they indeed are among the best graphics up to date, i only play on Medium but you may still be amazed due to the very well made Environments, effects, Textures. I don't know how they look on Ultra High, but i know it probably requires a monster PC.

Sound, very nice Soundtracks, do to be honest the ones from Witcher 1 felt more Medieval to give a better Atmosphere. Voice cast is beyond splendid, rely feel realistic, unlike DA were everyone speaked Fluent and Clean English, here you'll hear (well at least if you use the English Package) some of the old style english, mainly due to the swearing, "peasant" accents and so on.

Story, well i must say, even do it still has the instead of Typical Black and White world, there is only Gray, good and evil is hard to distinguish, and you resort to just choosing the lesser Evil. Witcher 2 doesn't feel exactly as Dark as the first, but it still keeps some of that Theme, here you get instead of Rainbows and Unicorns you get Non-human Haters and Drowners. But ive spoken more regarding the universe of The Witcher, the story itself, well not sure if to spoil or not, but all i can say is that Geralt of Rivia our Protagonist is on a Quest of Justice or simply Vengeance, seeking to clear his name of something he didn't do. However you might feel the story along with the game somewhat short, its possible it might leave you with many questions in the end, even do the conclusion of the main story is reached.

Gameplay, this... is probably the most rough part of the Diamond, mainly due to the awkward Interface like the Inventory and Items, but also the Combat, which for a starter of the game, and even for one who played Withcer 1 have many problems. Mainly cos either due to Difficulty imbalance or lack of Proper Training and Tutorial. Fortunately do fro out the game you will improve you're equipment and empower you're self via the Talent Skills. An anoyance do, and probably many Witcher 1 veterans were annoyed was the fact that Potion drinking is only done in "Meditation" a state of "sleep" at which you may pass time quickly or fro Alchemy create potions, bombs and oils, the thing is the part that you can't drink the potions during battle when you probably most need them. Even do they have a long term effect, it can be unpredictable what you will bump into around the corner. Or worse if you bump into a Boss Fight.

I may have missed some things, but regardless the game is far from Perfect, yet still managed to bring back one of the best RPG's ever made, and i must say many other Producers out there can learn from CDProjektRED.

One of the 16 (!) possible endings for The Witcher 2. *SPOILERS* I chose Roch's side and spared Letho at the end.
