I played this back when it came out but lost my disk. Steam just had it on sale for %75 off so I picked it up. Can't wait to replay through it. I hope there are good mods out there too.

Re-playing this at the moment. Traded the original in years ago, but picked it up again from a bargain bin for a couple of quid. It's so good, would recommend it to anyone who likes games with a bit of depth and atmosphere. Plus it's great value given how much gameplay it offers, with many RPG elements such as weapon upgrades, an open world, trade and allied factions - plus it's long. It's actually the best game I've played in 2010, but you've got to weigh in the nostalgia factor!

Thief invented the Stealth Genre!!! Not (and I am disappointed) MGS or Metal Gear

I personally think and believe thief's in game environment is great! people talking, reading papers, guards trying to pass time with each other while they leak important information. are some things that i have not seen in other stealth or any other genre game. graphics of this game was superior if you compare any other 2004-05 game.,,except doom3.

@ AntsuH I think I agree with you, but you didn't put it very clearly. Let me see if I can re-word it and you tell me if I understand you. Metal Gear is more about infiltration, blending in, and gaining intelligence for a greater purpose. Thief, on the other hand, is more about staying quiet, keeping out of sight, keeping in the shadows, and stealing for yourself. Am I right?

To Solid Tango: Thief and Metal Gear are 2 kinds of stealth games. MG: Walking around disguised in camoflage that doesn't work Thief: Hiding in the dark. Difference?

Back in 1998, Thief was my favorite game, and then followed by Thief2. Boy I can't wait for Thief4 coming out...and I do hope they bring the steam robots back. Kinda miss them in Thief3.

Do you think 2004 is new age? Check The dates before you make a pointless comment.

I agree with you to a point. It is only "long" by new age, lazy made gaming standards, it is shorter than the others. However if you put yourself into it it works out to feel more than long enough regardless.

The game being LONG is something brand new to me especiality for the Theif series, the other 2 games had a short burst of missions with the 2nd game having longer healthy missions.
