- Jan 16, 2013 3:58 pm GMTI would love conviction on psn or on disc with this game does anyone think this will happen the only reason i had a 360 was for conviction and hitman blood money and blood money is coming out in a trilogy for ps3.

let the world change you.....and, you can change the world - Jan 17, 2013 8:38 am GMTMaybe if Blacklist does well enough they'll port it to the PS3, but I kinda doubt it since it's been out for quite a while now and has only been on the 360 and PC.

- Jan 26, 2013 8:35 am GMTI'd support a PSN release, but a disc-release is probably totally out of the question.
Besides, Conviction wasn't very good...I liked it more than MGS4, sadly, but it wasn't very deep in terms of gameplay. Co-op was blast though. - Jan 26, 2013 10:26 am GMTConviction will damage your relationship to the splinter cell games. Youd do well to avoid it.

ITP: Different gameplay style=bad game.

THEN, after all that, was the shallow gameplay. Michael Ironside left the series for a reason, y'know... - Feb 5, 2013 12:45 pm GMTConviction was great but will be equally great.

i like frogs - Feb 11, 2013 4:11 pm GMTConviction on the PS3??
Never gonna happen - if it was going to it would have been here by now.
If it ever will (which I very much doubt), then it will be a good few years away, and it may be another one or two generations of game machinery away too - best you could hope for is a PC port for the PS5!! Maybe!!
They want to be sure to cash in on nostalgia value, and that means there is likely to be a very long wait. (See Splinter Cell HD Trilogy)
Besides, imho it strayed too far from the original premise of Splinter Cell, and Blacklist is set to stray even further - I wasted my hard earned cash on Conviction for the PC and was hugely disappointed, I've learned my lesson and I won't make the same mistake again.

- Albert Einstein (1879-1955) - Feb 12, 2013 3:13 pm GMTbongobreak, this article may interest you. I remembered reading this from some time ago and searched for it after I read a few of your posts. It sounds like from this article that you might actually enjoy Blacklist more than Conviction. This guy sounds like he's all for returning to a more classic play style while still keeping things fresh. It's encouraging.
Anyway, check it:
http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/11/splinter-cell-blacklist-aims-to-take-convictions-promise-to-th/ - Feb 12, 2013 4:02 pm GMTThanks for the link cancanmanstan - it's an interesting read.
Without straying too far off topic, I'll just say that it does indeed look a little more positive now - seems like they are ready to address some of the issues they had with Conviction.
Although the interview I saw with Michael Ironside discussing his reasons for not coming back for any more Splinter Cells, (~1:10) said that he didn't like the direction the game was going in.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gL8aqy1z6c4
This interview was done before Blacklist was announced however, but nevertheless, it's disappointing that he won't be voicing Sam Fisher - but granted, he had no knowledge of what that article said - it was published in September 2012 which isn't that long ago.
I won't get all misty-eyed and 'ranty' about how I think that Sam Fisher cannot exist without Michael Ironside - but it sure won't be the same.
I just wish game companies would have the courage to say that something has come to an end, and they will try something new, instead of stretching something out way past it's 'sell-by' date - they did a lot of damage with Conviction, and it will take a lot to recoup fans of the genre in my opinion, so Blacklist will have to be phenomenally good!!!
The article hints at a step in the right direction, but is it going to be as successful as the first Splinter Cells? I guess we'll see this August, but I won't be rushing out and spending any money until I'm sure it fits my preferences.
I suspect Ubi know that a lot of gamers feel this way, which is another reason (back on topic lol) why Conviction will probably not come to the PS3 any time soon.

- Albert Einstein (1879-1955) - Feb 13, 2013 9:13 am GMTBased on all the info and video previews they've released for this one, it looks more like "Chaos Theory with Mark & Execute" than "Conviction 2," so I'd keep my eye on this one if you, like me, loved the original games but hated Conviction's CoD-meets-PoP-style gameplay.
I'm sure it won't be as hardcoore of a stealth game as the first few games, but it looks a lot more promising than Conviction. Seems to be doing what MGS4 tried to do but failed, in that it gives you the choice to be stealthy or not (Chaos Theory didn't force stealth on you either), but doesn't unbalance the gameplay mechanics by making it HARDER to play with stealth than to just go in guns blazing.
Or course, we'll have to see, but it sounds at least like a decent game, whether it's gonna be a decent Splinter Cell or not. We barely have any good stealth games these days, afterall. - Feb 13, 2013 9:42 am GMTWise words cancanmanstan and You_Need_A_Life - it's worth waiting to see what happens before making a firm decision, rather than writing it off entirely.
Mark and Execute made Conviction too easy, but evidentally it's been refined for Blacklist, and besides, in professional mode it's switched off and you also lose the infra-red search and footstep trace feature too - which is shaping up to be very Chaos Theory-like.
And besides, we don't have to use these features anyway.
It will apparently cater for three gameplay styles - ghost, panther and another which I cannot remember the name of, but basically it covers all play styles from super stealth to full, open combat.
I know where I will be spending most of my time, if I buy this!!
See you in the shadows SC fans!!....Maybe!!

Hell yeah! Stealth all the way for me too! Any and all opportunities.
You know what I like about this particular board? We seem to be on 2 sides of the same coin...I feel a bit more positive, you are more hesitant, but we can debate this and help each other and listen to each other's points of view and learn something from each other along the way. Its nice to see someone who is hesitant but still checks out links and such from people with other viewpoints. And judging from your follow up posts in this and other threads you obviously really look at things, pay attention to them, think abour them and then post your thoughts on just that.
And it isn't just you amd me, it's You_Need_a_life and all the other contributers. I rarely see this many people being constructive at the same time on the same board.
Good, healthy debate. On "the internets"! REALLY? I'm going to have to show all my friends this thread, they will never believe it otherwise. A civil debate on the internet...whoa!!
:-) - Feb 13, 2013 12:43 pm GMTYou're absolutely right - it's debates like this that restore my faith in the internet.
Great stuff!
I guess I started out on this thread a little negative, but I am indeed warming to it - if only a little as yet - but I'm sure I'm not alone in my disappointment with Conviction.
It is nice to read that they have actually listened to the gamers.
When the Digital Download of Splinter Cell HD Trilogy was released, there was quite a few problems with it, chiefly the lack of an invert Y feature. Now, I'm not saying that gamer-pressure actually worked on that occasion, but there was a campaign to 'harass' Ubi until something was done.
I can't remember the name of the guy who spear-headed this drive, but you know what?....it worked!! The patch they issued did indeed include the invert Y option, plus a lot of other fixes too - which it definitely needed. It's the first time I heard anything like that happen before - although maybe it happens all the time and I just don't hear/read about it!! lol (Which is more probable actually! lol)
Maybe they had planned to do this all along, maybe not, but it is encouraging to see Ubi do some good.....(I was going to put '...for a change...' but that's my negative side coming out....I gotta watch that!! lol)
Anyway, it's back to the waiting game - not my favourite game, but whaddyagonnado??
Lets keep the healthy discussion going :-)

- Albert Einstein (1879-1955) - Feb 13, 2013 3:22 pm GMTThat's really cool that they listened on the HD pack (I didn't get that because I still have working versions of all the games on one platform or another). I'm a huge fan of inverted axis. I can adapt if needed being that I come from a time beyond measure (old old old) where inverted was rare and you got what you got. But how cool that they added it along with other fixes. I like it when a good game (or games in that case) is well supported.
I'm outta here for the week, gotta travel for a few days and will be back on next week. I'll reply further to this thread and the other one we are actve on when I get back! Wish I could do it now but I have a flight to catch. Leaving the computer at home because this is a special Valentine trip for m eand the wife, just she, me and no kids for the next 5 days! In a warm place with beaches no less. WOOHOO!! - Feb 24, 2013 6:35 am GMTNew info on conviction:
