I hope it is not hyped up like hitman absolution was. I mean it was a really great game but a few elements in it wasn't worth the hype. I really hope this game redeems ubisoft because they failed on ac3 (good game but could've done better) and slightly failed on farcry3 (again good game but not much to do after liberated out posts). I am also hoping for a fair amount of game length, I don't like short games. Enough said over all this game looks awesome. Also.... Wish they added conviction on ps3, I still want to play it.

To be honest you're not missing much from Conviction; blacklist is shaping up to be what Conviction should have been.

Not only was it short (4-5 hours max), but it was fairly lackluster with a poor excuse of a story and the worst antagonist ever. There was one rememberable scene between Sam and Grim but aside from that alot of the game felt like filler. For instance there was a flashback mission taking place in the Golf war having you play as Victor Cost... completely unnecessary with nothing relating to the current plot, not to mention a complete change in gameplay.

I have yet to play Absolution but I hear that the disguise function was broken and the A,I is pretty weak. As for Far Cry 3 wasn't the campaign really good? I know MP is said to be a throw away but the campaign looked great.

I disagree, Blacklist is shaping up to be what a sequel to Conviction should be, Conviction is as it should be right now.

It's funny how you say it has a poor excuse of a story, when none of the stories in the previous SC games were something that would win awards, same for the antagonists, none of them were particularly good, so IMO those aren't really valid complaints.

Maybe you need to play the game again if you think the part where you play as Vic had nothing relating to the current plot, it's showing how strong the bond between Sam and Vic is, to the point where either of them would risk anything for the other, like Vic risking his own ass more than once for Sam to get him equipment and during the last act of the game, air support via helicopter, and how Sam went to rescue Vic when he was captured in the end game cut scenes. It's showing how a strong bond with someone will make you do anything for them, like Sam during the entire game and all the stuff he does just to get his daughter back.

And there was no change in gameplay whatsoever, there are three types of gameplay you can do, full stealth, full assault, and a mix of the two, most levels let you choose which one to go with, but that level just leans more towards the full assault method, so there was no change in gameplay as you're already able to play through the whole game like that from the beginning.

You have the right to disagree but I felt Conviction was shallow in scope, more of a beta for something greater (that being Blacklist). It was the bare bones of this new direction Ubi is taking Splinter Cell, and I didn't feel that high attention to detail or quality that the other SC games had, including Double Agent. Be it the development issues or making it accessible, it just wasn't quite on par.

Let me reiterate. The story was simple and abandoned much of the realistic tones of the previous games. It became something out of Hollywood with a "bad-guy" of an antagonist twirling his wiry mustache. There were some questionable plot points as well, for instance capturing Sam to question him about EMPs, assuming he some how knows something? Or how Third Echelon devolved to a terrorist group all because the president was going to cut their funding?...

I still think it was unnecessary to play as Vic, nothing will change my mind on that.

And no, you cannot play the game entirely the way you like. Blacklist is expanding on the choice, but to fully ghost a level without looking for flaws in the A.I or tricks is impossible....

And all the more to wish conviction was on ps3.

I agree with everything you said except this. Vic's level is completely different. Most of the time you can play how you want, but you're forced to play this like a CoD game in third person. If anyone has found a way to ghost through that please tell me, because I never saw it.

Anyway, this game doesn't look like it will disappoint. It's taking the features from Conviction and expanding them a bit, while putting in some of the familiar from the old games. It really sucks that Conviction isn't available on PS3, because it's not a bad game at all. In fact, it humanizes Sam a lot more than the other games. Plus you get to feel just how dangerous he is.

Should be able to get it on PC if you have a decent enough one, or get a cheap 360 off eBay or something, or if you can find a video game rental place that rents out consoles you can rent that and see if they also have the game.

Or you can look up centerstrain01 on youtube, he has a pretty good letsplay of Conviction and the SC HD Trilogy.

I think this is the best solution. A decent rig even several years old should be able to play Conviction just fine, and it would be pretty cheap these days too, especially on PC.
