The Bottom Line:
"Just plain fun"
Turok has been a quite a good Nintendo game for a couple years now. It is known for having dinosaurs in it's game. Alot of you may think it's some Jurassic Park rip off. This is where I'd bash you in the skull with the controller, then strangle you with the wire. Turok is in no way, related to anything Jurassic Park has. But enough comparisons, let's get reviewing.

Story
-------
You play an Indian named Tal' Set, a man who has been approached by this dinosaur crisis before. But these are no ordinary dinosaurs, some of these dinosaurs have developed human-like qualities. They can speak, stand on two legs, have hands, and the ability to shoot you with a rifle. These creatures are called Sleg troopers, and are very lethal and tend to attack in numbers. At the start of the game, you'll be in a jungle, starting with a club and a simple bow and arrow. As you advance, the world becomes less prehistoric and more futuristic, taking you to huge fortresses, as well as other massive cities.

Gameplay
---------------
The game acts like a First Person Shooter, so old FPS players will feel welcomed here. You get a variety of weapons, ranging from bows and pistols, to flamethrowers and rocket launchers. Every weapon also has an alternate fire button, so don't be afraid to try everything out. The grenades can be thrown at enemies, but it's alternate fire deploys spikes that can be used as mines, or simply stick them to your foe. The rocket launcher can fire a large missile, as well as other smaller missiles, but it's alternate fire deploys saws to cut even the biggest of foes into tiny bits. The game has retained it's massive level of violence from the other games, so it's not a game for children. This could range from popping someone's head off, to severing a limb, to even poisoning an enemy as he vomits on the floor. The game has three difficulty settings, being easy, normal, and hard.

Graphics
-------------
The game's graphics aren't the most detailed, but they get the job down. The enviorments look pretty well done, from the water, to the grass, to the massive mountains. The character models lack detail, having still unmoving faces from old PlayStation games like Final Fantasy 7 or the Resident Evil series, as well as sometimes oddly shapen bodies. The blood and gore also needs a bit of work, though blood will stain walls and the floor realistically as it spews.

Overall
----------
This game has it's ups and downs. The gameplay gets repetitive at times, enemies can be unforgiving, even at easier settings, and strange level design can get people lost on a level for hours. Overlooking these small details, the game is pretty well done. It has nice enemies, all ranging from different classes, good weapons, and the fact every weapon has an alternate fire gives it that extra kick. The game certainly doesn't have much of a multiplayer, but the game will entertain you for quite a while before it begins to bore you.
