That's something I'm getting pre-ordered, so I'm wondering if any of you will play it too?

Other than that, I'm going to play some Counterstrike, but nothing too long, since it has no lobbies >_< ... I'll see some other titles, but I'm not too sure what else is out there that's going to feel like a game you can delve deep into and stay with for a long time.

If the patch is successful, I'll play Twisted Metal.
If the patch fails, I'll play Twisted Metal.

Whats the worst that can happen? Right?
  • Aug 4, 2012 4:18 am GMT
I've been busy with business. But SF4 and KoF XIII amongst several others, and things on my PSP. I have a ton of things I haven't touched.

I might pick up TM PS3 and play, but it simply won't work properly for me.

I will continue to play Twisted Metal and so will you Vad. The fact is that anyone who is currently playing has already proved there stubbornness.

Also as a community if the patch does make online work close to properly we need to make threads about it daily and try to spread the word. No more scaring noobs off. We need them to keep the community alive. I believe there are enough dedicated players to keep the lights on for awhile but we really need the next wave of players to stick around. My guess is that if Sony feels things are working right they will do a price drop or make it available on PSN. Possibly with an online option only. If that happens more people will play provided when they come to places like this they hear the right things. That online works and the game is great now that the community has grown. Not complaints about balance, not crying cuz people with better skill kill you to much, and certainly no talk of it being a flop. Really a lot of what happens after things are fixed is on us. If people come here and see endless complaints they aren't going to buy it. This game is so much better than most want to admit. Vad loves this game as is and isn't going anywhere. You should just come to terms with that so you can start to enjoy this wonderful game.

it depends on the balance solution. My favorite vehicle, i.e. Reaper, is now only really useful if you self-stick RPGs all day long because the opponents have the easiest amount of options to simply kill you with undodgeable weapons.

If I can't play Reaper without feeling cheated, then I don't really want to play this game forevermore and if something better can take its place, then I'll gladly put it aside.

That's the thing though, you have a small group of super hardcore fans who are going to play it even if it all but doesn't work anymore. You can't build a strong base off of a super hardcore sect of ultra fans. And this game is by and far praised and hyped in this section to the point of dishonesty. People saying online is huge and that there are games everywhere are just doing people a disservice.

Talking about game balance is one thing, all forums have that, but pointing out legitimate server issues is something else entirely. Obviously anybody who posts here loves the series overall and has probably been playing since 1995 or so. Of course they are going to blindly defend it at all costs. I don't trust them more than the haters.

Bottom line, the game is as fun as hell and the balance isn't a big issue to the point where it is unplayable, but the game servers and crash issues are something that need to be considered if a person wants to get this game. And let's be honest, most people getting the game at this point are likely super fans who will buy it anyway. I'm not going to sit here with a clean conscience and tell people this game is flawless only to have them blow their money. I believe in being objective. People may still pop this game in their PS3 once every couple of weeks, but it doesn't mean they'll be playing it as often. So that's something to look at.

To me this game is like a Ferrari that doesn't work right half of the time. When it runs, it runs like a dream. But often it doesn't run properly which can be disappointing.\

I'd love to see the community grow more than anybody, I spent months working on games for that purpose.

I'll still be playing when I can even if the patch bombs. I still have fun trying to do challenge on twisted and LAN when friends come to chill. Right now though I've been going through Catherine, LBP Kart Beta, and Machinarium.

Still waiting for CSGO and GW2 though

And I will also play cs a little!
