I too was a fan of Far Cry 2 (and the original actually) but have had no issues falling in love with 3. There are times when I am driving around the Island that I get a sense of deja vu, but they have made enough improvements to really make it an awesome game. I know that too much hype can be an issue though. Its always better to be unexpectedly "wowed" than it is to expect to be wowed. Halo 3 for example could have come with a free crate of beer and a bj from Lucy Pinder and it still wouldn't have lived up to the hype that had been generated. On the other hand, I watched Shawshank Redemption without knowing it was Shawshank Redemption (flicked over right as the film was starting - had to bring up teletext at the end to find out what i'd just watch (this was bad in the day)) and it made the film even more amazing.
@angryfodder I am finding that expectation really affects my enjoyment of things. Halo is an example for me also. I can appreciate that it's good but is it that good?
