TITLE EDIT: MY Guitar Hero World Tour CUSTOM Setlist

I'm posting this today because Activision could reveal their setlist any day now for World Tour. Especially after Harmonix did just that with Rock Band 2. Well anyway, unless the World Tour setlist is something like this (or at least has some sort of kick ass song selection), I'm sold to Rock Band 2. Did you see that drumkit?! It converts into a real frikkin' drumset.

Funniest thing I've ever seen on GameSpot.

Click and laugh

Of my almost three years here at GameSpot, this is easily the funniest thing I've ever read. I'm sure people who are affiliated with Guitar Hero will really laugh.

Battle for GOTY?

For the first time in a long time, GameSpot has given out perfect tens to games this year, Metal Gear Solid 4 being the latest. While some of us are probably still unsure of GameSpot's review credibility, it's still cool to see two different games get perfect tens in one year. Now who wins GOTY? Before it was GTA IV for sure, but it's definitely not clear cut now. Co-GOTY, much?

My money's on this game. I mean, there isn't even a review yet, presumably because it's so addicting that the staff haven't gotten around to reviewing it.

The Strangers

Went to the movies with some peeps last night, and while I typically don't like an overabundance of people in the theater, I almost enjoyed my friends screaming more than the movie itself.

The Strangers' plot synopsis revolves around a couple returning to a vacation home after a friend's wedding rehearsal. The two find themselves being harassed and simply ****ed with by three strange, mask-totering individuals. Here's a "the good" and "the bad" and "the ugly" way of putting this...

The Good:
-Great acting. I think the best assessment you could give to this movie is arguably the acting.
-A few scary moments. I never jumped but there were a few moments that made my heart skip a beat.
-Good concept. That's really about it.

The Bad:
-Poor execution. When you have a concept as good as The Strangers', it really pays dividends to execute well.
-Terrible plot development. For an average length movie, there wasn't much happening. The story really relied heavily on dramatic irony (I believe that's the one I'm thinking of) where the audience sees the killers but the characters in the movie don't. What's scary about that? This aspect continues on for a good portion of the movie, which really annoyed me.
-Average effects and characters. Despite the great acting, the characters in the movie weren't really explained well. There's not much information put out on the "strangers". The said special effects were typical in a horror movie, and could've been done with a little more solidity.

The Ugly:
-Too predictable. I absolutely hate it when a movie is too predictable. Almost every key event that took place was predicted by either me or one of my friends. Bah.
-The ending. The ending to the movie really put on the finishing touches of negativity for me. It's something you'd expect in one of those B Grade horror movies you see on the Sci-Fi channel every once in a while.

Well, there you go. Everywhere else I've heard, this movie is great. I thought it could've been a lot better. A lot. It's one of those movies that, as you watch, you just hope gets better, but ends up being rather dull. 6.5/10

The Six

Naast, Number of the Beast, and One have been neutralized. I'll be working quite a bit on F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. and Nothing For Me Here in the coming days. The other four songs will be a pain in my side.

The Nine

That's all the remains. Nine songs left to five star in Guitar Hero III. After surprising myself in completing Knights of Cydonia earlier today, I thought I'd do a quick run through of the remaining songs I need to five star.

I. F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. - The Fall of Troy

-A couple things get me in this song. For one, unless my thumb is really relaxed and in a good strumming mood, I can't really do well in the opening verses (or the chorus for that matter). Secondly, the mosh solo is something I've been working on for a while, but I'm lucky to get anywhere near 70% on it. With time I'll get this song down, but it may take a while.

II. Raining Blood - Slayer

-The only song I can't even four star on the setlist, Raining Blood is one of the wildest song I regularly play. I'm trying to get better at it, so I play it quite a bit. I've gotten used to not strumming the mosh and I can pass the flood no problem. The bridge and verses are the subtle multiplier killers. First thing's first: Four star this song, then worry about the next step.

III. Mauvias Garcon - Naast

-I'm going to be totally honest, this is a difficult song. I've only completed it twice in my life, but I go back to it every once in a while to see how I do on the opening. Unfortunately, I don't have the patience to finish it usually. By far the most annoying song in the game. I just need to get better at quick down strumming.

IV. Through the Fire and Flames - DragonForce

-Not much to say here really. I don't even know if I'll ever pass this song let alone five star it. I'm not prone to cheating through the opening, and unless I learn to tap, I think I'll just give this song up.

V. Take This Life - In Flames

-I still can't pass this song. I don't know what it is. I've tried the upstrum beginning like Ben suggested, but my rhythm just goes out of sync. That said, it's a fun song to play in practice. Once I get the alt strum down, it shouldn't be too hard to five star.

VI. One - Metallica

-I can four star this any time I want now, which is a big plus. I can also get through fast solo A without star power. Strangely enough, I lack consistency in the darkness riff sections. I tend to overstrum or miss a note, causing my multiplier a lot of grief. And that's really my only problem with the song. I can FC it all the way through the first darkness bridge, and sometimes further. The solos aren't that difficult besides A and some of B.

VII. The Way It Ends - Prototype

-Honestly, I see myself five starring this soon. I'm getting better at the rhythm and refraining from casual overstrums in the fast strumming sections. I've gotten 94% before but only three stars because of my inconsistency. Kind of weird. Still a fun song to play, and since I strum really loud in general, it sounds like a total machine gun when I play this song.

VIII. Nothing For Me Here - Dope

-I personally think this is one of the top five most difficult songs in the game. It hurts my wrist something awful, and it's the only song I can't get over 100K on. There's a little two-green note strum during the chorus and opening that precludes my multiplier from anything above 2. It's like a never-ending barrage of notes. And because the song is short, it's hard to balance consistent playing with crappy playing to average out an arguably good multiplier.

IX. Number of the Beast - Iron Maiden

-Like The Fall of Troy, I can only really get into this song unless I'm in a fast strumming mood. But once I get past that opening, I'm a barrel of sweat and exhaustion. I do hold my own for the remainder of the song though (including the outro, which is the same as the intro). I've gotten over 370K and a 2.8x multiplier, but no five stars. I can feel it coming soon, but lately, I can't successfully complete the intro without missing notes that I normally hit.

After I work some more on these songs, I plan on getting into Guitar Hero II more. So far, the only two songs that I can't pass are Misirlou and Jordan. I was close in Misirlou once. I tried deploying star power, but it wouldn't go, so I failed at about 80%. I'll get there.
