The Ramblings of Me and my PC (and PS3)

    Done and Done

Last week I finally graduated. I received my BS in Computer Engineering from George Mason University. After 6 long grueling years of study, I'm left with more free time than I have ever had. Of course I still have a full time job, but at least the rest of my time isn't taken up by lectures, labs sessions and hours and hours and hours of study and lab work. So what am I going to do with my free time? Gaming of course.

I'm managed to play Borderlands here and there over the past month and have grown to really love that game. I'm hoping that they make a sequel. But until then, I have hours and hours of playing the game ahead of me and replaying the game with different ****s, etc.

I have a handful of PS3 games that I really haven't played at all, and will be having some quality time with them once I'm settled in at my new apartment. I still need to finish up Uncharted, and I haven't even touched Uncharted 2 yet. I played through Dante's Inferno and God of War 3, but I seriously doubt I'll be playing those games again so I'll probably sell them. I finished Batman Arkham Asylum, but still have a couple riddles to solve and other things to find, so I'll probably go back and get those along with trying to get some more trophies. I need to finish God of War 1 and 2, since I went out of my way to get the "Collection" release several months back to prepare for the release of God of War 3. I'm a huge fan of the Battlefield game series and of course got a copy of Bad Company 2 which I've put about 20 hours of gameplay into about a week after it was released but none since. I'll definitely put some time in with it. I'm planning to pick up a copy of Red Dead Redemption today, so hopefully that will live up to the hype. I've been wanting to play Heavy Rain as well, so I might pickup a used copy sometime in the near future. I jumped on the free copy of Portal from Steam, and never played it before, but with the first hour I played of it, I'm loving it and looking forward to the Portal 2 release. I've also got L4D and L4D2 that I liked playing when I had the time, so I'll probably jump on a couple campaign runs of it once I get my FiOS installed tomorrow at my new place.

Lots of time and lots of games. I'm going to enjoy the next few months as I play through all the games I've been neglecting due to my scholarly obligations.

Still bogged down with a ton of games to play

So, things really haven't changed much since the last time I've posted except that there are more games to play and too little time to get around to them. My latest addictions are Bioshock 2, Bad Company 2, God of War Collection and God of War 3. I'm also being pressured to play some more L4D1 and 2. I'm in my "last" semester of school for Computer Engineering, and I'm finding it fairly difficult to stay focused when I have so many games to pull my attention away from my schoolwork. Since winterbreak I've pounded away at Uncharted 1, Batman: Arkham Asylum as well as the first Bad Company and the God of War Collection to make way for GoW3. I still haven't finished the first GoW game, but started playing GoW3 anyways, and I must say that it is the most epic game I've ever played. Its just plain amazing with all the action that occurs all around you. The graphics are amazing, and the story is excellent as well. All-in-all, its an A+ in my book. I got Borderlands back when it came out, and haven't played it at all....waiting on some other friends to play with...and time as well. I'm almost done with playing Bioshock 2, which sadly is a lackluster sequel to the masterpiece that was Bioshock. Bad Company 2 is actually much better of a game that Bad Company 1 was. The single player campaign is short and sweet and enjoyable while the multiplayer with where the heart of the game is at. With the new ranking system, it takes a lot longer to rank up, thus making the multiplayer experience worth while. So with all these time consuming games, I just don't have enough time to really play all the games that I want to. Blah.

    Battlefield 1943 Qualms

So I was really excited about getting this game for my PS3, until I got it and couldn't play it. EA couldn't create an account for me (or log in to my existing one), so I had to contact EA support to correct everything. So after two days of not being able to play the game even though I bought it the second it was released, I was a bit pissed.

Finally was able to log in Friday night to play a couple rounds. Then of course when I logged in again last night, all my stats were erased and I was back to rank 0. Yet again, I was pissed. So I played for several hours last night, getting some awards, etc., and hopefully when I log in again tonight they will all still be there. These issues with EA and the PS3 are really pissing me off, because I had the same issues with Bad Company. It has nothing to do on the PSN side of things....its all EA. The literally have to erase and then recreate my PSN/EA persona everytime I want to play a new game of theirs.

Overall, the game is fun, and plays much like Bad Company except set in the WWII Pacific Theater. The newly improved Frostbite engine makes destructing buildings a little better and there are other small aspects of the game that I find cool. Like the samarai sword (in place of the bayonett), knocking someone over the head with a wrench, taking people out with ease with the rifle, and the flying is easy (or easier if you compare it to previous Battlefield games.
