    Clearing out and moving on

It's my last day in my current job today and its mixed emotions. Of course I'm looking forward to the new challenge and the shed load of extra cash but on the flip side I'm going to miss the people I work with on a daily basis. It's hard to find people that you genuinely enjoy being with most of your waking life and my heart is heavy as I pack my box with my coffee mug and other assorted office items (if it ain't nailed down it's mine )

I would go into what I'm moving on to do but appreciate that to most of you this would be as interesting as the national paint drying championships! So I will spare the details suffice to say it's something very new and an open book in terms of how it's all going to work nationally.

With regards to the 'challenge' as documented in the last blog (see below) this weekend would seem like the ideal time as my G/F is away. But things are conspiring against me. Mostly the fact that I have found out (by the medium of being electrically thrown across the kitchen) that my house has no earth at all in the electrics. What this essentially means is that I now have to shell out £1500 for the house to re-wired so money is far to tight for buying and even renting games this month.

This is not a bad thing as it means my latest purchase Viva Pinata TIP is getting a lot of love in my house. My G/F enjoys watching it (and bizarrely enjoys imitating the piñata noises … the little said about this the better I feel ) and I'm enjoying the highs and lows of tempting various paper animals into my garden. There is not that much difference between this and the original but enough to keep it enjoyable and importantly a challenge.

I'm also (trying) to play C&C Kanes Wrath. I say 'trying' as the game keeps crashing on me. I have changed the disk at the shop but the prob still persists. This is not normally a problem but seeing as it takes ages to save and load a game it's really starting to ruin the game for me! I want to play it I just don't want to be making my next dominating, Napoleonic advance only to see the game freeze is anyone else having or had this prob?

As for other gaming bits and bobs my sprits were raised this month with the announcement of Pantasy Star Online coming to the DS I have gone on and on about this game both on the forums and blogs before. I'm so happy about this and cannot wait until I get my grubby mitts on it.

I guess that's about it and well this has to be my dullest blog ever LOL Must be due to my heavy heart today.

    Challenge accepted!!

There are so many sites, magazines etc that are now promoting 10,000 GP's in 24 hours. I was with my mate discussing this down t'pub at the weekend. After more than our fair share of beers we came up with the idea of perhaps one Saturday giving it a go.

N.B I would like to point out I have never played a game for points (though not to say I haven't been slightly OCD about some points whilst playing )

So what's promoted this? I guess the challenge, the can I do it and more importantly what kind of drivel do I have to play to complete said task? But mostly it's like dangling a carrot in front of a very bored donkey!!

Of course certain other requirements have to be taken into consideration…

    Requirement no1:

Mostly my G/F and her lowering tolerance levels towards my gaming habits so shipping her out for the weekend is a must. Whilst hiring someone to bundle her in the back of a van, kidnapping her and holding her hostage for the weekend may seem like the perfect solution. I can't see her having a chuckle over it a few days later and seeing the 'funny side'. I would indeed be in danger of losing most if not all of my 'important bits' in some hideous kitchen implement home surgery fiasco with my GF at the helm with little or no regard for my pain threshold levels. I'll just pick a weekend she is out anyway, prob safer!

    Requirement no2:

Someone to share the task with. With my mate being an instigator he is going to have to suffer with me!

    Requirement no3:

Supplies! As with the marathon this type of endurance event needs pit stops and fuelling stations. Now it's not quite as 'active' as the marathon so instead of protein drinks, water showers and other liquids our supplies are simple. Caffeine in varying forms, food (mostly pizza) and perhaps some booze (well of course some booze) not only to make the dull games go quicker but to also add a bit of spice in the form of active drinking competitions during some games.

    Requirement no4:

There are few things certain in life one is death the other is having to go to the toilet. Considering the amounts of 'life saving' fluids we will be taking during the endurance event toilet stops are inevitable but costly with regards to time. A few suggestions have been made.

    Man nappies
Yep there comes a time, in old age when if it isn't your marbles that go it's your ability to hold on to your bladder. Therefore these beauties let you get rid of your waste and let you sit in it until you can be bothered to change it … ideal!

A bottle in the corner … nuff said

A commode not only does it double as a seat also a great way to poo and play

In the end though it came down to the fact that we could swap when a toilet break is needed. We also felt slightly 'funny' about doing any business in front of each other. Yep were close but certain lines never need to be crossed or even spoken about again.

And obviously the games. I will keep the list until I actually do this and I may even get a video camera in to video blog the event. Of course renting is a must here. But again this marathon will only happen if all requirements are hit …esp no1

If you have any ideas or help you may wish to pass on feel free Also some games may well need online assistance so if perhaps you have no life and enjoy watch 2 middle aged men drunkenly fumble their way through 24 hours of game playing your more than welcome to join us LOL

    New addition to the family

And no before all the baby talk comes flooding in around stinky nappies, white vomit on your shoulder and all the other associated stuff this has nothing to do with a 'happy accident' at my house LOL

What in fact I'm talking about is my brand new PS3 that is adding yet more mayhem to an already congested area around my TV, what with my Wii and 360 already taking up valuable space. So yep I'm the proud father of a beautiful, bouncing baby 40gb PS3 and I'm cuffed to bits .

So what are my thoughts on this black beauty? Well I'm going to compare it to the 360 I know I shouldn't but hey I can't resist.

As far as setting up goes very easy. No brick for the power and HDMI is as easy as pie, though there was some straining and grunting trying to get this into the most inaccessible area in my TV.

As for the OS and online set up. I don't know perhaps I'm just to used to the 360 or perhaps it was just the fact that someone (and I will hunt them down like the dog's they are) had already taken my name that kind of made it feel slightly less of an easy and enjoyable experience compared to the 360. But hey I'm online now and whilst I haven't ventured into any games ( I don't have a headset gggrrrr that was one omission I wasn't happy about) it seems to be working.
Which brings me onto the PSN Store. This seems a bit congested and not as easy to find what you want though again this may be due to me not really being that used to it.

As for games well I only have Resistance at the moment. I wasn't that impressed to begin with. Then bizarrely played it for 5 hours (that whizzed by) without a break, realising perhaps it is a good game after all to hold my attention for so long!

That's about it really I know I need to put it through it's paces a bit more and I will do in the coming weeks. Oh and if you want to add me feel free PSN ID: MunkieMunch
