The new DmC reboot is set to be released in mere hours. Of course, some of you recall my initial reaction to Dante's new character design, made to look like Robert Pattinson with a cigarette in his mouth. Not favorable. In fact, I hated it for a time. Still, despite the obvious, I put my trust in both Capcom and Ninja Theory hoping they wouldn't, at the very least, screw up the gameplay. A few years later, I was presented the opportunity to taste a snippet of their endeavors in the form of a demo I downloaded last night from the PlayStation Network.

Well, the first few minutes in .... were quite impressive.

For a while, I ignored the fact that Dante no longer had silver hair, and he began the game naked for some reason. I don't know -- there's something about this Dante in particular that is a far cry from the Dante I'm used to seeing. He's got a seedier attitude and seems a little more flippant and an edgy hard-ass. Is it surprising to learn that I'm drawn to these qualities when it comes to anti-heroes?

Oh, and the gameplay is actually quite fun. Soon as I wielded by Rebellion and my Ebony and Ivory, I felt right at home. And the new Angel/Devil system is a nice touch -- a stark reminder of Lords of Shadow.

Although I'm still not really loving the dark hair and the Twilight vibe, this DmC has a surprising amount of potential, and it's getting favorable reviews so far. I'm considering picking this up---convinced that Capcom's might have another surprise of a winner here. As they say, never judge a Devil by his hair color.

There was something i liked in the combat, don't get me wrong the controls were sharp fluid and really on point. I really enjoyed bashing through all the demons with Dante.  But then hearing his voice and the horrible dialogue and his punch lines were so weak. Devil Trigger was pretty bland as well I didn't use it at all through the demo. I'll skip this game until it hits twenty bucks. Oh and one more thing that boss fight was soooooo repetitive swinging tree from tree like you were George of the Jungle, cmon that was weak.

@Kid_Black_Star Yeah, the controls were really smooth in this one -- I was very impressed.  Even though the combat is a little slow, Ninja Theory nailed the franchise basics enough for me to feel right at home.  It's Devil May Cry all right, but rebooted.  I'll wait till it drops before I decide to invest.

DMC without the original Dante is just another game which only carries the title. Capcom is a famous big company so they could have built a huge  expensive new advertising campaign and try to promote a totally new games insteed of killing one of gaming universes popular heros. The proves that manufactures don't really care for gamers feelings they just want to make money and be successful.

@khatibi22 I was pretty miffed when they rebooted Dante to look like .... well, Edward Cullen, because I felt that Ninja Theory was ruining DmC so much that they couldn't even get Dante's features right.  While I still feel that Dante's new look is a bit of an affront to franchise fans, they at least got the gameplay right in a sense.  I won't be spending $60 on this right now, but it's on my mind. Yes, Capcom and other game companies seem to put profit above gamers' feelings, and it has been happening a lot lately.  That's why there's been so much backlash involving Bayonetta 2, multiplayer in the new Tomb Raider, etc...

If I'm not so hilariously broke, I'd have gotten the game as soon as it hit store shelves just to show support for Ninja Theory. I don't even care that I have the demo downloaded and unplayed, and the fact that I'm not even a DMC fan in the first place. But yeh, that money thing is annoying...

@mufujifi Ugh, I'm with you on that.  :(  Well, DmC isn't quite worth $60 off the gate, but it is better than I expected, however.  I'm definitely considering getting this, but I'm gonna wait it out when the price drops.  I'm pretty broke myself XD

this is one of those games I wanted, but didn't want to pay $60 for - but I'm still waiting for Far Cry to drop in price too and that hasn't happened...it's okay, I have to many games to play right now anyway (and I'll keep telling myself that)!

@pokecharm I've seen Far Cry dropped at $40 at my local Target, but they were limited time sales that occurred during the Holiday season -- I was close to buying it, but didn't, and it's back up to $60.  :(

I have an interest in getting DmC because I'm pretty convinced Ninja Theory got it right and nailed the basics enough :) Likely I'll get it later because I don't think it's worth $60!

Everyone says the game is fun, but everyone also says that the ending is crap, the dialogue sucks and that boss fights are lame, but apart from all that yeah the game is good :P

@Doomguard3 I thought the dialogue was kinda dumb, too, especially the cussing XD  Still, I'm very tempted to pick this up at some point, but probably not at $60.  They got it right with the exception of Dante's design, which I'm still annoyed by :(
