The Wii is a system with huge potential for outstanding videogames but in my opinion it hasn't quite lived up to this yet. Not that there haven't been any great games on it. There are a few. Zack and Wiki, Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Resident Evil 4, and No More Heroes. But most don't fully utilize the motion sensor controls, making them seem gimicky. I would like to see these get taken advantage of fully. The following is just wishful thinking.
- The Wii needs a great RPG. Something with the production values and story telling of a Final Fantasy or Mass Effect. The game would have a hands on fully controlled real time battle system. Easy to get into yet deep and engaging. Maybe to cast spells you would have to move the remote in specific patterns. To use a bow and arrows you would aim with the nunchuck and draw and fire with the remote using a realistic motion. No random battles. Co-op gameplay, like that shown in Army of Two would be awesome...
- Another good FPS. Medal of Honor Heroes 2 was a decent first fps. That games controls were incredible. The next Wii FPS needs to be a vast improvement on and offline over MOHH2. More online maps and modes, better communication and interface, Clan leaderboards, little to no bugs, a great campaign with the ability to play co-op.
- Some sort of Real time strategy game. The Wii controls are perfect for this genre.
- A mature-themed sandbox action-adventure game like GTA.
- A real nba game with great controls and AI. The teams execute plays on offense and defense just like the real pros. No more cpu running down the shot clock and taking stupid shots. A full franchise mode with online play and support for at least ten players per game. Oh and the ability to play with three buddies on the system on and offline.
- A kicka$$ giant mech game, something with deep customization like Armored Core. It would have destructible environments and you would use the wii-mote to do all kinds of crazy close and long range attacks. You could even lift and throw other mechs and objects around. Once again there would be a co-op mode and an online battle mode with leaderboards and stat tracking.
Just think of the possibilities....
The following is a list of the best horror games I have played. In terms of how scary they were, er.. I meant...are.![]()
1. Resident Evil 2
2. Silent Hill 2
3. Resident Evil
4. Resident Evil 4
5. Resident Evil Code Veronica
6. Manhunt
7. Dino Crisis
8. Eternal Darkness
9. The Suffering
10. Doom 3
Super Smash Bros Brawl is pretty good. I wouldn't call it the best fighting game ever (that would be Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast), it seems too shallow for me to play for extended periods of time. But it does what it does well. Multiplayer combat. The game is fun and a bit chaotic. My bro's a smash bros veteran, I never really played any of the other titles for any real length of time. So I get owned... alot. So far my favorite characters are Pitt, Luigi, Wario and the Ice Climbers. I've yet to try it online but I will soon.
I still play Medal of Honor Heroes 2 once in a while. But lately there has been too much of a dependency on grenades by most players to get kills in the games I have joined. WTF? What happened to fair play and usuing actual skill to take out your opponent? Oh well, might as well get used to it until Mario Kart and better online games come out on Wii. (fingers crossed)
