If anything, us long-time gamers know that nothing in video game making is really sacred. We've seen knock offs of knock offs of knock offs. We've seen game series' jump publishers and go from being platform exclusive to being multi-console (omni-console?). What I'm getting at is, why aren't console gamers getting MOBA games?
LoL, HoN, DoTA, we all know these names. Granted it's a relatively new and still growing market, but what gaming genre isn't ever growing? It seems like the now popular sub-genre would benefit from having console incarnations/ rip-offs. Gniche gaming is making a come back in a big way (hardcore RPG's, tower defense games, etc.). Especially with it being a multi-player heavy sub-genre, it seems like a no brainer to me.
Controls would be simple enough. Blah blah blah, move character with left stick. Yadda yadda yadda, control camera with right stick, click it to return to character. Map handful of spells you choose at beginning to face buttons, implement some kind of targeting action, bing bang boom, lol.
What would also work is communication, which is key in these games. Put in voice com and we're all set.
There're more things I can go on about as to why this would be a good idea, but I'm tired and dinner's ready. My point is I think this would be a great way to expand the market and get more people interested. The fremium-package would still work (see Crimson Alliance, not sure if Sony has a similarly packaged game). I just don't see a good reason why game companies would say "No!"
Again, I digress
