All About BananaUK
Just a little about me and how I percieve the world of computer gaming.
Yes, That's right folks the Playstation 3 pre orders in Europe are going through the roof, and the console is only second to Harry Potter on Amazon. It's amazing after months of speculation from analysts and retailers, who insisted the price point was not realistic, that the PS3 is doing so well. It's a mighty step forward for Sony after spending well over $1 billion in Research and Development for the next generation computer entertainment system, and hopefully this will build up confidence for a PSP 2.
Also worldwide the Playstation 3 is outselling the XBOX 360 in line with the XBOX 360's launch window. Where all the analysts who said Sony's Playstation 3 price point would inevitably lead to a massive failure working for Microsoft? Was this spin created by PR firms hired by Microsoft, I have no doubt that some of the anti marketing is coming from that side of the fence, but it's bound to happen in such a competitive market place.
"PS3 pre-orders are coming in thick and fast. It is the fastest selling games product we have ever sold online and it is shaping up to be our biggest ever pre-order campaign for a console."
Another quote from the Article:
"Previous console supplies have been restrictive but Sony is promising such a big amount for day one that people can pretty much pre-order from whoever they like, and expect to be happy on the day of release,"Observed Chips MD Don McCabe.
Will Microsoft's lack of a sustained launch and early distribution plans hinder its performance this year, I say No, but with the continued rumors of an XBOX 360 V2 on the cards, will the XBOX 360 v2 have the power to trump the PS3?
In my opinion the XBOX 360 version 2 will only be able to be a temporary gap filler for Microsoft, as the Playstation 3 is currently twice as fast as the Microsoft unit. The question is what's next for Microsoft? With a bumpy Vista roll out, and continued tension over IP content being bought and sold wily nilly, what will Microsoft do?
Well they've definitely got the money, so will see what happens, aye?
15Dec 06Well as stated in my earlier post, I have been lucky enough to get my hands on a Nintendo Wii. The Wii has lead to the neglect of my PC, and obviously posting on Gamespot, but the Honey moon period is over now. After having aching arms, and shoulders I will definitely be pacing myself next time.
Anyway thanks for reading, and have a great Weekend.
7Dec 06I would of camped out, but the shop that I pre ordered my Wii from is in a mall, therefore I have to wait till the mall opens to get it.
Nevermind, 7:30am I will have a Wii in my hands. w00t.
