    Christmas Hilarity

An incredibly horrible/funny version of Oh Holy Night, sung at a church's Christmas pageant. High-larious!

    The Beginning of the End...???

Read this rumor first: Possible Gamespot Employee Speaks Out

I liked Jeff, I wish he hadn't been fired, but, employees are fired all the time, sometimes for legitimate reasons and sometimes not. So, my issue isn't really that Jeff was fired (even though it does stink), but my problem is with the possible reasoning behind the firing.

There is a reason a magazine such as Consumer Reports doesn't accept advertising. They don't want the hassle/venom that could come from an advertiser after a bad review of said advertisers product. And they don't want the subscriber backlash that would come from a positive review that seems to be more paid for than truthful. Unfortunately, not everyone can survive on an advertiser-free model and Gamespot falls into that group.

So, there is a possible power struggle going on between the editorial and advertising teams. Advertising wants game review scores pushed upward for a client that spends big money on advertising and the editorial team wants to rate with a score that reflects the consumer value of a product. Unfortunately, it looks like Executive Vice President Stephen Colvin (formerly of Maxim) is bringing his flash over substance philosophy to Gamespot.

Almost everyone likes money. I do and I'm sure most of those reading this do as well. I don't have a problem with a company trying to make more money, but I do have a problem when it has the potential to impact a review of any kind. I pay money to this site to get unbiased product reviewers not some advertiser money-supported garbage. I will be keeping an eye on this site and the meta-reviews from elsewhere and if I start to see any great disparities I may have to drop this site from my credit card and required viewing list.

I'm sad to see Jeff go, but I'm more sad for what is possibly on the horizon for my favorite gaming site. Don't f**k it up Gamespot.

    Good Luck, Jeff.

One of the Best Shows You're Probably Not Watching

There's nothing better than taking a chance on a new TV show and striking gold. Smart, funny, and supernaturally bent shows are hard to come by, and when they do we have to support them. I've been watching Supernatural ever since it started and it's great, but that's not the show I'm writing about. No, that show is Reaper.

Reaper airs Tuesdays at 9pm and is one of the best new shows of the season. It's funny, well-written, and has the Devil, you just can't beat that!
