  Next Gen Consoles: The War Part 1

  Introduction

  2007 marked, in fact, the beggining of the war know as the new generation war. Of course, the Xbox 360 had already burned the start there ago, at the end of 2005 but it was only in December last year, with the arrival in the final Wii and the PlayStation 3 that the real dispute began.There is no doubt that the big winner of the past generation was just the platform of Sony,with more then 100millions units sold around the world, the PS2, has left all its rivals GameCube,Xbox and Dreamcast eating dust,and by far- helping even on the process of exit from the market of the Sega´s consoles(Dreamcast).The big looser was the poor Nintendo´s GameCube whose exclusive games eventually disapering, and shortly after the Xbox, which despite being released finally, left a clear message that Microsoft of Bill Gates was in the business to stay.

  The Playstation still with full power-full of future releases and games oh the highest quality- when the microsoft came to the market with its new console.The promise was simple to bring to the living room of the players the more advanced gameplaying in games,with the best graphics, the best titles and, above all, the best experience online.The Console came to the market in two models: Premmium: (with wireless controls, Hard Disk for saved games,download etc.)and the Core Model:the cheaper version,but with less resources.Moreover,he returned with full force to Xbox Live,the online service of Xbox.His new version,however, had a crucial difference: the existence of the signature Silver, which was free and gave access to limited functionality of the network - something that did not exist before.

  However,the games line available at launch did not follow the Shout caused by the debut of the console. With games such as Dead or Alive 4 postponed to 2006, who bet on 360 had be content with the median Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero and a number of versions of games that had already been launched in the original Xbox. A impressive hardware, the games not so impressive.The great integration to Live and the launch of several high-quality titles such as Dead Rising and Gears of War ensured an early career promise for the white box of Microsoft.
