Blog #151: A Look Back On My Old Avatars
Okay, so this whole week I've been in an excellent mood. I decided I'll go ahead and take a blast into the past and show you guys the many avatars I have used. After all, Cloud_765 has many faces, and I guess each avatar didn't get much attention.
So without further ado:
This was my first avatar ever. I used this my whole first year and more of using GameSpot. It wasn't until I got my computer in March of this year I decided I needed a new avatar. This is the avatar I used though throughout my early days of GameSpot, and most particularly how people recognized me at SonicSpot, the only union I went to at the time.

My avatar when I got my computer in March. This was used a good amount of time, up until the early days of the union I lead. All-Out Nintendo was made and even still I used this avatar.
But then IaskedDudersaperif he could make me a cool new one, and he made...
I used this up until mid May, and this was personally my favorite Shadow The Hedgehog avatar I've had early on. This avatar didn't get too much attention sadly, but I still thank Duder for making it because at the time I couldn't design for crap.
Anyway, to celebrate the release of Punch-Out!!, Duder made me...
This avatar was what I used for about 3 weeks. It was my avatar when people were starting to get to know me, and ironically it was the avatar I used when I was promoted at SonicSpot. Soon Punch-Out!! was released, I needed something new, and I finally began to design my own stuff. My first major avatar when that happened was:

Yes, a Pikachu! It was used when I met quite a few users. Some are users you know very well, like julian_jr and fastesttruck, and others I either don't know anymore or regret meeting (sort of
). I was using this avy when I hit 10000 posts, and I was still looked at as an underdog.
10k posts at level 16... I remember when I thought THAT was overkill.

A lot of people began knowing me a little more when I had this avatar. In fact, this is the avatar I had when a lot of users began joining All-Out Nintendo, and so this is the face many began to notice me by. I remember someone I didn't even know sent me a PM saying Toon Link would be happier if that red ruppee was silver.

I remember this avatar well. Trust me, there are some hidden memories behind this avatar... and I don't want to look too far into them.
But around the time I had this avy, a lot on GS was going on, and I moved to a new home. In fact, I remember when my pal World-Ender made a joke that he liked the lead in percent/level he was getting from the break I had to take due to internet loss. Ironically he stopped caring for levels and because of a few vacations he's now about a level and a half behind me.

I was one of my favorite levels when I made this avatar up. I was level 19- Gitaroo Man. I remember at the time I was going along nicely, outside GS and on, and then things got rough, and I not only needed a new avatar, I needed one that reflected my personality and emotions at the time. That happened to point to an old "friend"...

I was level 20: Metal Slime. Things aside from GS were rough on my personally. I was experiencing a lot of emotional stress at the time. So to reflect that and to cher my up, I brought back an old character I had a ton of avatars of before. I remember due to my immense posting a LOT of users saw this avatar pop up. I mean, I went from 17500 or so posts at level 20's beginning to about 21000 by level 20's end. And it turns out I went through the new Metal Slime, you know, the one that doesn't take forever to pass?

I used this avatar for level 21- Rescue Ranger. I was still down in the dumps sort of when I unleashed the avatar that actually went with my username.
Around the time I had this avatar though some of the problems I was facing became a little less bothersome and I began to cheer up a bit. Soon I got a strange idea. Why not use girl avatars and trick new users into thinking I'm a girl? Hey, I like girl video game characters, okay!

Ah, my all-time favorite video game heroine. Monica from Dark Cloud 2. Man, did I enjoy using this avatar. I used this when I was level 22- Blaster Master. And I actually DID manage to trick a few users to think I was a girl with this thing!
All in all, when I was using this I was starting to get pretty decent with GIMP, at least enough so that things didn't look all low-quality or something. The next theme I used had the following avatar:
A lot of users I knew from a while before using this were incredibly happy to see me using a The World Ends With You theme.
and to follow along with my trickery of making users that didn't know me think I was a girl just for kicks, I had used Eri, or the fake Shiki, as my avatar. Soon though I felt the weird urge to make space themes, and these came up:

There were multiple variations of the Space Theme I used, but those 2 were the first onesI used. With lack of anything better to make, I sort of followed in the footsteps of fastesttruck. But I eventually thought to myself that I wasn't being myself when it came to my avatars. I needed to think up something that was more... me. So, when I got back into Pokemon, this became my new theme, which I know a lot of you prolly miss me using:

I call this avatar my "The Turnaround" avatar, since I used this avatar when I broke from posting for a while, when I finally sprung up from my depression, and when I cracked the Top Posters list. This Pokemon, Luxray, is my favorite Pokemon hands-down, and it seems to symbolize my inner strength. So it won't be hard to tell you'll see this guy again as my theme in the future.
I had the urge for a new theme recently, which is the one you see now. What willI use next? Who knows. I could end up thinking up the perfect idea today, a week from now, or a month. But in any case, I hope you enjoyed my showcase. Not often you see a user's gallery of old avatars.

Blog #150: My Goal Is Achieved... Sort Of
So lately I had feelings for one of my friends. As it turns out, for kicks I went to my Friday football game to see if she'd show up, because even though she has plans, people usually ditch her and she ends up going somewhere else. My gut feeling came through for me. She actually showed up at the game, and I managed to have fun talking to her throughout the entire first half. Then during halftime I told her my feelings toward her.
We talked it over and even my other friend said it was apparant we wouldn't date since she's not ready to, but she understood where I was coming from and she respected that I had actually gotten the courage to tell her, and she respected that I'mactually not a phony like most of all the other kids in our school. After we finished talking things over we joked around again and the second half flew by andwe didn't even pay any attention to the game itself.
Even though we're not dating, we're good friends and funny thing is, because we were alone with no one around us and the fact that we gave each other our numbers before the game ended, people around us might have thought were we dating.
So while we're not together, there's always a way I might change her mind, and just as good is that we're even closer friends than before.
I guess even if you can't get exactly what you set out for, you can still "win" in the end, eh?Anyway, thought people that I talked to about this would like to know. Everything is resolved and I'm once again happy and ready to go on with my life.

Blog #149: I Don't Blame Global Warming, But My Butt Is Freezing Already!
It's November 5th. That usually means it's not so much as cold, but it's cool, and you have to start wearing some jackets. The leaves are abundandtly red, orange, and yellow, and at this point there are more on the ground than there are on the branches.
I live in Massachusetts, which is in the northeastern United States. And for pete's sake, the damn cold is enough to be near late November! It seems to me like the past couple years the season's temperature changes prematurely. I mean I saw frost on the grass one morning at the end of October! The END of OCTOBER! It's not supposed to be that cold that early!
And I recall back a few years ago this wasn't the case. It wasn't half bad out years back. What in the world is causing the air to be so cold around this time of year, and then be way to hot in the summer, and also become too warm when spring barely starts? Anyway, I ironically don't think it's THAT BAD out right now, but it's been comparatively colder quite earlier in the year the past few years.
Worse off is New England whether here. You never know what the hell's gonna happen sometimes. It might be windy as heck, it might be calm as a spring morning. It might actually be freezing one day and hot as an oven the next. So my friend came up with a cutesy and quite fitting motto for the weather/climate here: "New England. If you don't like the weather here, just wait until tomorrow."
I seriously hope that's all it takes, maybe we'll have our first snowfall in a more fitting time, like early December, instead of last year we had our first snowfall at the VERY beginning of November. Uhm... Fall is barely over a month in at that point! Do they need to change the seasons' timespans up or something?

Anyway, that's all for this blog... I'll be over in my kitchen... getting hot cocoa... and maybe snuggling next to the heater with a nice blanket...
