Well...sort of. I'm doing a 13 week work placement at the local Poundland shop (done through BTCV). I don't get payed a wage but I suppose I still get my Jobseekers allowance which is something (I now get about £125 every 2 weeks instead of £95). I am doing proper work not just observing and helping. I mainly work in the warehouse part of the shop, sorting stock, filling shelves, assisting customers (if I know where something is) and recycling packaging. It's been better than I thought (I've only been there 2 days so far) and the people who work there are good fun. A couple are a bit mental but it's all good.
And I work there 4 days a week, 9-5.
Today is my weekday off and I actually would rather be at work because I'm bored sitting here at home listening to Kings of Leon. lol
Well today I could have went to meet Sanchia but alas, I haven't. Over the last 2 days I have stupidly spent all the money I had on various stuff from HMV. And those stuff are: Warrior King, Kung Fu Hustle, Fight Club, Bo' Selecta! series 1, 2 & 3, Little Britain series 1 & 3 (DVD's), Led Zeppelin Mothership (the deluxe version with the DVD) and a badge with "I'll Be Back" written on it. ![]()
So while I now have plenty of DVD's to keep me busy I have to wait even longer to meet the aforementioned person. ![]()
I also have a warning to anyone who has to post a big letter or parcel. Be prepared to spend more money than you'd expect. I sent The Elder Scrolls IV game guide to someone who bought it off me from Amazon and it cost £4.30 to send 1st cla.s.s If there wasn't a partition between the customer and the post office worker I would have slapped them...
Ok. Onto Warrior King. The film is amazing and very violent. But so very very cool. Tony Jaa is the star in it (his second film after Ong Bak) and if you even have a slight interest in martial arts then you MUST see Warrior King. The fight scenes are the best you will ever see. Simple as that. No dodgy wire work here. ![]()
So that's it from me. I start my work placement in a few weeks I think so I'm anxious about that.
I'll end with 3 points of advice:
- Go watch Warrior King with the awesome Tony Jaa in.
- Avoid the Royal Mail.
- And listen to some led Zeppelin.
My profile banner has finally changed. I uploaded it yesterday and it's taken over 24 hours to show itself. Well I hope you all enjoy the new banner which can be seen above. ![]()
I probably would've posted a new blog sooner but I've been talking to a a lovely girl called Sanchia who lives in a town about 20 minutes from where I live.
And no I'm not going to do what everyone on the off topic board does and post pics of her so don't ask. lol
Today I went to the JobCentre (yay...) to sort out what kind of work placement I'd like to do (same as a normal job minus the wages). I said I'd like to do a placement in GAME or Woolworths but any retail position would do.
Well that's about it. Not a long blog post by any means but just a little update for all my fans (ha!).
A new post should be arriving in a week as I'm going for a day out...
I thought it was about time I made a new blog post on here. Even though I'm not sure what to talk about. I'm sitting here bored out of my mind and I keep checking Windows Live Messenger (it's not MSN!) for someone to come online.
I'm now a member of two shiny new unions (big thanks to braindead_hero and tofu-lion91 for the invites). So you can expect to see me on GS alot more. I have also joined DeviantArt, so if anyone's interested, my page is here. There isn't much art on my page but it's just a stepping stone to greatness. ![]()
That's about it really. The Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix is on today so I'll be watching that. Come on Hamilton!
Which is a good thing. ![]()
Today was the day I attend the A4E course I'm on. It was just the usual: sitting in front of a computer from 9am to 4pm, with a 1 hour lunch break at 12. On the lunch break I went into town with my mate to get some food (obviously) and got a very nice ham salad sandwich, bottle of Oasis and a (very) delicious cream doughnut.
After that day was done I went round town to see what I could buy as I had some money available. I bought two books, DVD & Video Guide 2006 (99p) and The Video Games Guide (£1.99) and got some modelling clay for my 5 year old nephew. I like to grab a bargain if you didn't guess. ![]()
I got home at about 5:30pm and suddenly realised how boring home is. lol. So I upgraded my GS account to Total Access just for fun and have spent most of the evening playing SSX On Tour (which I got from GAME yesterday for £1.99 brand new!) and being on the computer.
Oh! And yesterday i went to a Volunteers Fair (less a fair more just a room full of people and tables). vinvolved Team Cumbria got my details and so did my towns library. So I really hope I can do some volunteer work soon as I think it's something I'll really enjoy.
Yes. it's the life of a rock star for me!
Well it looks like a spaceship. If you've read my previous blog posts you'd have seen me mentioning that Workington (where I live) is getting the worlds first 3D outdoor soundcsape, called The Hub, that will be used for performances and the like. Well after getting delayed 3 times it's finally been put up. It's not quite finished yet but here's some pictures of it:
EDIT: the pictures have disappeared (a fault with imagshack it seems)! So I'll describe it. It's a very large disc hanging from cables in the town centre that lights on it and can play music.
