After getting my results around a month ago now and finding out I didn't do quite as well as I needed to. I've been sitting around for the last month wondering if I got through to the second year or if I had to do resits. I was literally on the cut-off point, a little below actually and thought I'd have to retake stuff. I guess that's my fault for Guitar Heroing instead of doing coursework
although I am confused by a few of my grades as I'm certain I did a lot better.
Anyway, today I found out that I'm through to the second year without any resits! Over the moon! I'll actually have to try for the next two years as they count towards my degree while the first year didn't (thankfully).
Want to try and average 70% next year (First) and then take a sandwich (work placement) year in the 3rd year before coming back and finishing my degree in the 4th year. I'll be happy with either a 1st or a 2:1, although being able to say I have a 1st in computer Science from nottingham would be nice
I saw that the Top Gun theme was available to download for Free for GH3 this afternoon - so go on and get it. Played through it and decided to try doing The Devil Went Down to Gerogia (Argubly the hardest song in the game, more so than Through the fire and Flames). To see how much I'd improved since getting Rock Band and GH:A last Saturday.
I beat it, meaning all the DLC content (Minus Coldplay pack and companion pack) had been beaten, I was delighted.
Then headed over to the bonus songs - two there I hadn't done. Take This Life and Through the Fire and flames. As my left hand was still hurting after the last song I did Take This Life first - finished it on the second attempt, was easy once I had the strumming down, no idea why I've not been able to beat this song before.
One song stood between me and "completion" of Guitar Hero 3, DragonForce's Through the Fire and Flames. First attempt i fluffed up the intro, not even getting to the first star power. Second time I got half way through the intro - but could feel that I was close to getting through the intro. Next time, I got through the intro - flew through it. Got to 80% of the song and star power still hadn't been used. Then I got the "hard part", Star power activiated, got through the "hard part" onto some nice chords, ONE MISS away from failing the song. Rest of the song is fairly simple and I did it - I had finally beaten through the fire and flames. Only the fourth time I'd gotten past the intro.
Now I just need to go finish 5 staring Expert and hard (Just one song on hard, about 5 on Expert) and then finish playing through Easy and I'll be "done" with this game, other than a few silly achivements.
Yep, that's right Rock Band 2 is coming in September to the Xbox 360 - and later in the year to the other platforms similar to how it is over here in Europe with the Original Game.
Rock Band 2 is going to have some new instruments but of course your Rock Band instruments will be working with the game. No new details on the instruments have been released as of yet but most probably they'll only be small additions although it has been confirmed that they'll be "quieter", no more waking people up in the middle of the night!
A price point for the game has yet to be released but it's assumed that it'll be near that of Rock Band which most likely isn't a good thing for us Europeans!
For those of you who have been busy rocking with Rock Band and gotten DLC you'll be delighted to hear that your DLC will work with Rock Band 2! Not only that but there's no such thing as "Rock Band 2 DLC", both games will share DLC which is fantastic, means people will be able to play their DLC with either disc - no worries with having to change to play specific DLC. On a similar note nothing has been said on if music on the Rock Band CD will be useable in Rock Band 2 itself, I'm going to assume not as I cannot see a way this would be possible which will be a pain as if you want to play a song from the original game while playing Rock Band 2, you'll have to shut down Rock band 2 and switch to the old game. Hopefully Harmonix and EA can work something out to get this to work.
The set-list that comes with Rock Band 2 is meant to be the best of any rhythm game thus far - a recent site survey has said that AC DC will be included in the game and that is pretty much all that has been confirmed at this time.
Harmonix have stated that there will be some improvements to the game itself; however the main gameplay elements will be kept the same. While no specific details have been given it's more than likely that Band World Tour will be available to those of you who want to play online.
No dates or information has been released for Europe who have only in the past month received the first game in the "series", but European gamers will hope they'll be rocking out with Rock Band 2 around the same time the US are. There are still parts of the world that have yet to see the original, most notably are Australia who I believe will not have Rock Band until AFTER September, when the US will have the second game!
Having only got the original Rock Band game myself (Two days ago) I still have many many hours of fun left with that - especially considering I have not yet bought the drums and thus have only been playing the guitar parts. I'm still eagerly awaiting the second instalment and as I had not planned to buy the instruments until September anyway, this release date could fall very nicely for me indeed.
Expect more details about Rock Band 2 to come out during E3 in the middle of July

Just ordered both GH:A and Rockband (Solus) from ShopTo, £73.98 for the two of them. Should be getting them both tomorrow!
I'll probably play through GH:A first - just go through expert once, then go download a few Rock band songs and play through the guitar career, and maybe play online a bit.
I'll be getting the drums in September (I'll get the whole set) when I go back to uni - I MAY get it before then depending on if I get a job this summer or not.
My external HDD decided it had had enough today, it now won't switch on. Have contacted Freecom and am awaiting a resposne, I believe it's just a fault power supply and thus all my data should be safe.
Had a lot of things on there, which if I can't get back I'm going to be very annoyed - Things on there included all my pictures from Berlin - about 400, just gone. About 10GB of recordings for my YouTube channel that I have been recording for months, back-up of my photobucket,a bunch of work for University and other things I can't even think about at this time.
The thing I'm most annoyed about losing however was a project I was working on - Hadn't spent too long on it thus far only a couple of weeks, but basically I was making a game in Java, spent a few hours a day on it, probably close to 100 hours all together actually, I should really have backed it up in other places but I wasn't expecting my HDD to fail on me.
Anyway, i'm back home from University now, with a rubbish wireless connection, although a decent internet speed when it decides it wants to work. I also have a job all but lined up for the summer, working in a call centre for emergency doctors (NOT, Ambulances) pays over £8 an hour which is pretty good, hopefully I can work there pretty much the whole summer and earn myself a bit of money towards and HDTV and possibly a new PC or a PS3.
I'll try and get the Berlin pictures from my friend who also has a set of them and post them here, or from my HDD if I can get it working.
I'm going to be gone until Some time next Sunday on Holiday in Berlin. Expect some pictures and a story when I get back!
A week without Gamespot... how am I going to survive?
