DoctorBedlam's Illustrious Rantings

Dig it. Or don't. But it'd be a lot cooler if you did.
Gamespot Level Eleven + I'm getting paid right now!

I punk atomically.

And the second part to this blog is to say: I'm at work when I get online to gamespot! What a slacker.

Fanboy Wishes

I'd really like to see:

-A new PUNISHER videogame, to coincide with the new movie PUNISHER: WARZONE, that utilizes the gameplay and mechanics of that last/latest release. They could definately upgrade everything for the new consoles though.

-A SPIDERMAN game that doesn't take after the crappy, and campy movies or the newest comic tie-ins. The SPIDERMAN history is massive! There's much to draw from to form an excellent playing field.

-A BATMAN videogame, to coincide with the new movie THE DARK KNIGHT, that utitlizes the gameplay and mechanics of that last/latest release with touch-ups here and there, of course. The fighting in that BATMAN BEGINS game was a bit shoddy.

Also, just in general, why do so many games have to be tied into a movies release? I understand that whole marketing thing, the whole making money to live deal (it's quite important!), but certain comic book characters have such rich backgrounds and strong fanbases that nothing short of a flood would keep the fanboy/curious consumer and gamer from swarming to well developed videogames with these refined properties.

Take heed, o ye makers o games!

Hopefully, with this admirable & instantly classic release called METAL GEAR SOLID 4: Guns Of The Patriots, developers are taking the hint (finally) that they should step their 'game' up when it comes to their own creations/releases. Focus, take the time, enhance, test, have faith and confidence in your audience/consumers, etc.

MGS4 hits on so many classic levels of gaming as well as ascends to new heights previously only daydreamed about.

If I wore a hat I'd take it off to Kojima and all those involved.

Metal Gear Solid 4

I love it. If you play it you will love it.

I've played the story through on Easy. It's brilliant. If you know nothing of the storyline running through the series, then I can see you getting flustered with the immense amount of information flying at you; however, the game is so engaging that the player has no choice but to give it their undivided attention. But if you are a diehard/immersed fan, you will have your jaw drop down for a 'solid' slate of time.

Just get it. Play it. Don't read any reviews. Stop reading my blog right now.

Go play.

Soon...

...METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS is soon to be in our hands. The magnitude of that fact is slightly hard to grasp.

While not celebrated on the level that MG is celebrated, SOULCALIBUR 4 is also going to be available for play in our lifetimes. That's just awesome.

Next week, I'll be preordering:

SOULCALIBUR 4

ENDWAR (this is available for preorder, I think)

FARCRY 2 (if I can; not sure when preorders begin for that)

STAR WARS: THE FORCE UNLEASHED (once again, if I can)

These games, along with MGS4, are going to be the staple games in my collection. I'll play other random releases, but that main list selection will override all other gaming action for a long time.

..................not that anyone needs to know this. Ha!

Ratings 'n' Reviews

If it seems like some of my scoring is a bit high or lenient-that's because it is.

I tend to give many releases the benefit of the doubt a.k.a. an open palm slap to the face as opposed to a closed fist.

There's going to be a bias on everyone's part, but I just glanced and realized how someone might construe my ratings and reviews in a pretentious, inexperienced or generally negative light. Regardless of bugs, glitches, or overall shoddy production value-if I enjoyed playing a game and probably returned to it more than once-it's going to get a 10 or 9. So obviously I go off of personal joy and satisfaction with this stuff.

Being a big fan (alongside being an individual thriving on creativity who wouldn't mind getting into the business to this level or that) my love and passion for gaming overshadows my criticism, but not my critical eye.
