  OnLive... WTF!? (Rumored to be Console-Killer)

  Surely you've heard of OnLive. The harbinger of console-death. The future of video gaming. The messiah and all that blah. For the uninitiated, OnLive is an on-demand video game service that does most of the processing server-side, allowing high-end games to be played on modest PC setups, or on a TV set using a MicroConsole.

  Well as great as that all sounds, Sony doesn't think it's all that. Nuh-uh. Snap snap. SCEA's director of corporate communications, Patrick Seybold, believes that in the long run, OnLive won't be able to deliver, or at least, will be very costly for the consumer:

  
  ---"What will be the final cost to the consumer when you start adding up what [OnLive is] selling? [...] What will be sacrificed when you [put OnLive] into a real world environment where multiple devices are plugged into one broadband connection?"---

  Concerns that a lot of other gamers have expressed. Thousands of gamers depending on the same set of servers to render their high-end games is bound to have consequences. Doubters would say that lags are inevitable, despite what OnLive promises.

  Seybold doesn't end there of course. He has to plug the PS3, or else he just wasted the publicity he's getting by taking potshots at OnLive:

  
  --- "PlayStation's been bringing HD gaming and entertainment into consumers' homes for many years now. With both digitally distributed and disc-based content, we have a competitive offering for consumers, whether they are tethered to the Internet or not.
  Only on PlayStation 3 can you get HD gaming, watch BD and downloaded movies, have ample hard drive space for music, movies and photos, built-in Wi-Fi, and free access to PlayStation Network - right out of the box." ---

  In my personal opinion... THIS SUCKS!!
  Why? Because all my life I have always gamed at my friends houses (not being able to buy my own console because of cost and strict parents bound to keep gaming out of the house) and I have NEVER been able to have my own gaming system. Now that I am growing up in the world and will be living alone, my own apartment, going to college, I will save up money and finally be able to GET MY GAME ON!! wOOt! Wait... What? Consoles are now obsolete? WTF!? Suck! Now I have to spend money every month on some stupid Internet service? Crap... And I never even got to make my own account on my very own gaming system console that I bought myself with my own money... dang it...

  Tribute to my friends!

  The funny thing is, is that I have never owned my own gaming system. My parents never liked video games and didn't want them in the house but they didn't have any problems with me playing video games so... thank heavens for friends! If it weren't for my friends, right now I would be living in a very dull world thinking that the only excitement there was to be had was reading fantasy books, watching sci-fi flicks or kicking a ball around. Hah! Yeah right! Gaming is it's own world within this world; gaming is an escape from reality, a realization of dreams, the embodiment of the human imagination presented in an interactive form.

  Therefore, friends, I would like to thank you from saving me from a very boring existence. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have come to know all the beloved universes that I now know, universes like Halo, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid and more. If it weren't for you I wouldn't have had the opportunity to play all the games I have played and I probably wouldn't have thought about contributing my wonderful talent of Art and drawing to the gaming world!
