I'm sorry guys. I honestly wasn't planning to revive the event, but after getting numerous requests, I caved to the pressure and brought it back.
Simply put: There has just been too many of them, and it has lost its novelty to me, and to me, I feel it just isn't needed anymore.
Anyone already planning to play stuff for the event, go ahead, as I'll enjoy to read and watch your stuff, but I'm going to hang it up here and now.
Thanks to everyone who has been supportive, as I've had many great times hosting and watching these events pan out, but I think there is such a thing as too much of a good thing in this case. Again, I apologize, and hope you'll forgive me.
Later.
*leaves akwardly*
What exactly is Retro Revival Week?
It's a week where you play nothing but the old cla$$ic games, and show and tell others about your experiences during the week (via text or video).
When is Retro Revival Week?
Retro Revival Week begins Sunday, July 6th, 2008 and ends on Saturday, July 12th, 2008 and anyone is welcome to join.
What games are allowed?
On consoles, any game up until and including the Playstation One/Nintendo 64/Saturn era are allowed. NES/Famicom, Genesis/Mega Drive, SNES/Super Famicom, Atari, Gameboy, Neo Geo, etc. No Dreamcast.
On PC, any games released until the end of 1999 are allowed.
Any straight re-releases of games, such as on compilation discs, virtual console, or faithful xbox live arcade/PSN releases DO in fact count during Retro Revival Week. Games that have noticeably upgraded graphics, extra content, etc (remakes) do not count (such as ultimate ghosts n goblins).
Am I allowed to play current and modern games?
No. I've juggled this idea a lot of times, but truthfully, if you were allowed to play anything, it wouldn't be much of a change for me and some others, because we play retro games on a regular basis. If sometime during the week you break because you just HAVE to play "insert game here", don't feel too embarassed, as it happens to the best of us, but don't make it a habit.
Are we going to have some sort of contest?
That would be pretty cool actually, but I have no idea right now. Might be a little too complicated to organize that, have people take pictures of their screen for proof, etc. Maybe not. I dunno. I'll think about it.
That's really all you need to know, but if you have any more, let me know. Enjoy!
Thought I'd leave this here reminder that Retro Revival Week is indeed set to kick off this sunday, and I hope that as many of you as possible join in on the festivities and have a good time.
If you have any questions about Retro Revival Week, feel free to leave me a comment or PM and I'll be happy to answer back.
With that out of the way, here's a list of some of the games I am definitely going to play during the event:
Metroid (NES)

Sonic 3 & Knuckles (Genesis)

Adventure Island (NES)

Tetris (NES)

Illusion of Gaia (SNES)

Doom (Xbox Live Arcade)

Starcraft: Brood War (PC)

Quake III Arena (PC)

Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)

Those are the definite plays for me. I'm sure some other games will sneak their way in.
Thanks for reading, and I'll be looking forward to hearing from you all next week (you can of course expect stuff from me).
Later.
Here's a couple of pics:

Above is a picture of my character sporting my new custom camo. I couldn't get that great of a picture of him off the TV, though. Where it looks almost pink, it's actually red, and the lighter whitish part is grey. John thinks it looks stupid, but he's a dork anyway.
Anyway, just wanted to share my excitement with you guys. This has been a goal I wanted to complete for a while, and it's finally done. I shall stand atop the mountain of those who have gathered this rank and be proud... until the patch comes out later this week and ruins it! (They're adding in 100 ranks to the elite rank, GAH!)
You asked for it, you got it.
Retro Revival Week has been pushed back until next Sunday. I'll post a reminder or two during the week so nobody forgets when it finally goes under way. See you there. ![]()

Also... I wanted to ask you guys something. Would you guys be interested in another Retro Revival Week, like.. starting on Sunday? I thought I'd ask you guys to see if it's worth doing one again.
If you don't know what Retro Revival Week is, it's a week where you play nothing but cla$$ic games from the n64/ps1/saturn era and back, including NES, Genesis, Super Nintendo, etc. Also, during the week, it is asked (but not totally required) that you post text or videos about your progress, or perhaps some of your favorite gameplay footage or stories or whatever you have in mind.
Anyway, let me know.
