    E3 - The Big Three

Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony have all had their big e3 conferences now (or Direct, in Ninty's case) so here is what I thought of them.

    Microsoft

Microsoft overall had a decent showing with some new exclusives to announce for the Xbox One. They came out from the start to show that yes, the Xbox One is still a gaming system but kept quiet about always online and DRM approach.

+ New exclusives(for console): Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Killer Instinct, Ryse, Titanfall
+ Nice trailers for Metal Gear Solid and The Wither 3
+ Price and launch date announced

    - Silence on details of Xbox One DRM, and always online(have to connect once a day)
    - Demo woes with Battlefield 4
    - Price is $499

    My rating - 7/10

I'm not buying an Xbox One but they did have good looking games to show for the conference so it wasn't a bad show.

    Sony

Sony started off a little slow, showing off PS3 and Vita games we already knew about that are coming fairly soon. Beyond: Two Souls and Puppeteer had nice new trailers though. They talked a little too long about TV/Movie/Music servcices but then it was all about the PS4 and they owned it from there.

+ Nice new trailers for PS4 exclusives: Infamous, Killzone, Knack
+ Final Fantasy XV(Versus XIII) gameplay and Kingdom Hearts III reveal
+ Awesome demos for Watch Dogs and Destiny
+ Nice barrage of indies coming to PS4
    + No disc-based DRM, $399 price tag

    - Nothing new to announce for Vita
    - Still, no Last Guardian
    - Demo woes with Assassin's Creed IV

+/- PSN plus now required for online(PS4) which will mean better service but now Sony might feel as obligated to bring us a good selection of free plus titles since people with have to pay for plus to play online anyway.

     My rating - 9/10

It could have been a 10/10 if Sony was really convincing that they still plan to support the Vita. Hopefully they have something up their sleeve and wanted to keep e3 about the PS4.

    Nintendo

With no new big console to talk about, Nintendo was all about the games for their direct. They had a fairly nice showing but I found it a bit disappointing.

+ Super Smash Bros. gameplay, along with playable Mega Man
+ Mario Kart 8, X, Bayonetta 2, Wind Waker HD, Wonderful 101 trailers
+ Nintendo also showing support for cool looking indies
+ Dates, release windows announced for most games

    - Super Mario 3D World looks like a 3DS game, looks fun but scaled down from recent 3D Mario
    - Lag, lag, and more lag. Nintendo needs to do a better stream or offer it in more places.

+/- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze looks fun, but a bit disappointing that it's what Retro is working on

    My rating - 7.0/10

Super Mario 3D World won't be so bad if Nintendo has a full 3D Mario game(I would love to a hub and more open levels come back like in 64/Sunshine) to come out in the next year or two but it's a disappointment as the big new 3D Mario for the Wii U. At least Peach is playable instead of two Toads this time.

And now to look forward to the rest of E3.
(I missed the EA conference, so decided not to cover them or Ubisoft here)

Not sure if it's just me but Glitchspot is at it again

Over the past few days I've commented on quite a few GS friend's blogs and the comment disappears. Happened to me about five times over the last three days(that's not counting a couple I attempted to comment in a couple times lol). Anyone else having this problem?

I'll also take a little time to talk about the game I'm currently playing.

I'm playing the PS3 version of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen and I'm having a lot of fun with it so far. I've been exploring around a lot with some high level pawns but I think I'll downgrade to seem weaker ones as I get more into the main story as they are quite overpowered at the moment. So far the only foes that have given me trouble with them are spirits(called phantasms I think). They probably have a weakness I can exploit but even my pawns weren't doing much damage lol. If the Elder Scrolls games had combat more like this I could really get into them. Playing this now definitely has me looking forward to Deep Down for next gen.

Dragon's Dogma doesn't exactly have a moving story and there is a lot of stuff to do so I might play another game or two along with it. After I'd down with DD (lol, boobs) I might finally crack into Demon's Souls or Dark Souls to focus on them and see if I get what all the hubbub is about.

    Duck Tales WOO-HOO!

Great news, Duck Tales is getting an HD release coming this summer for PSN/XBLA/WiiU. I loved the NES original and this looks great so I'll definitely be buying it. Along with the Dungeons & Dragons arcade games getting released, Capcom is really on a roll today. I've always wanted to play those. Alien vs. Predator was awesome and now this gives me hope for that game seeing a home release as well.

A new Mega Man game has also been announced to be in development but I won't hold my breath on that. It could be a browser game for all I know, but hopefully it will be something worth getting excited for. I would hope it's not yet another classic Mega Man (would prefer a new X game) but even that would be pretty nice.
