    Top 10 Underrated Classics - #5: Star Fox 2

    #5: Star Fox 2

    Platform(s): Super Nintendo

    ©1995 Nintendo (unreleased)

"What? Star Fox 2 never came out!!" Is what you are probably thinking right now, but you can play this game on an emulator or get the repro cart off of timewalk games. So, since the game was fully complete at first, and the fans patched the game to fix some bugs, it's playable and can be on my list. After the success of the first Star Fox game, Nintendo decided to follow up with a sequel, but when the game was completed, Nintendo pulled the plug and decided to release Star Fox 64 instead. This cancelled gem is Star Fox 2, the sequel that never saw the light of day, which was supposed to happen near the end of the Super NES' lifespan in 1995. SF2 was way different from it's sequel, as it let you choose which characters you want to play as, and the game was kind of like a tactical RPG, as you have to choose where to go next and what enemies you want to get rid of in order to prevent Corneria from being taken over by Andross. This gameplay system is similar to what is in Star Fox Command on the DS. Star Fox 2 lives on in other Star Fox games, as they have many different elements from SF2. This game also had the option where your Arwing could transform into a walking battle tank on certain levels, and you sure can't do that in any other SF game. Nintendo is still trying to make up their minds whether or not to bring SF2 to Virtual Console, but you can enjoy this game by playing it on an emulator, or fork over the money for a repro cart. Nintendo, please bring this game to Virtual Console someday because I'm sure there are tons of people wanting to play this unreleased gem that never saw the light of day.

    Now reviewing Sega Saturn games!

Great news everyone! I just bought a Sega Saturn yesterday and now I can review SS games! The only games I could review right now are Resident Evil and Sonic 3D Blast, but I will buy more games for the system.

Here are some Saturn game reviews you will see in the future from me:

Mega Man 8, Mega Man X3, Mega Man X4, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Saturn Bomberman, The Legend of Oasis, Donpachi, DoDonpachi, Deep Fear, Burning Rangers, Panzer Dragoon Saga (hopefully), Street Fighter Alpha games, Sega Rally Championship, Daytona USA, Dead or Alive

It will take me a while to get all these games, but I promise you will see these reviews from me in the near future. Saturn games ain't cheap ya know. Well, please comment and let me know what you think. Thanks!

Final Fantasy V & VI remakes possibly coming to 3DS???!!!

We all know that Final Fantasy III and IV have been given 3D remakes on the DS, but fans have been demanding that Square Enix remake Final Fantasy VI, the game which is considered by many to be the best in the series, in 3D. SE said that it wouldn't be possible on the DS due to "technical issues", but they have considered remaking FFVI on Nintendo's newest handheld, the 3DS. The 3DS is a powerful system, able to run a variant of the Resident Evil 5 engine, so it may not be a surprise if any hardware related issues with bringing Final Fantasy VI to the DS would be resolved on 3DS. And SE isn't just considering FFVI, they are also considering 1992's Final Fantasy V as well to be given the 3D remake treatment. You can pick up VI for your SNES or GBA, and you can get V as a SNES reproduction cart or on the GBA, but why not play them as 3D remakes? We won't know if FFV and VI will be getting these remakes until Square Enix gives us more feedback, but this would be great if they decide to go for it. Please let me know what you think of this!
