Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising Preview
Now in beta phase, a new MMO in the works by Heatwave Interactive. I haven't heard of them before. But I won't forget them now. SImply because Rome Rising is a fantastic peiece of work. I wouldn't say it's perfect, I'm never one to say a game is perfect but Rome Rising is art. Taking the little resources it has it creates an immersive world in roman times.
Creating a character. Tall or Short, Skinny or fat, blonde or brown. Eyes? Lips? Mouth? Ears? All customisable and very easy to work. I found myself spending quite a while creating a chracter in a very cool looking environment, infront of the statues of the gods. Almost is if they're looking over you.
Leveling/Questing is very linear. Seems kinda boring. But you are actually doing tasks that make a difference, like rescuing other soldiers or finding lost captains. It's all a bit of fun but its repetitve and gets boring. It's not the "World of Warcraft" in terms of questing but then again with the recent Cataclysm expansion, nothing is.
I don't really have much to say about this game except that it is really fun and very good considering the quality of the looks. Behind the looks is a polished, clean, simple game that is a unique look at the basic fundementals of a MMORPG, It take the theme very seriously yet feels like alot of fun. Walk along brothers! And may the gods be with you…
