Worked 12 hours yesterday, and it was especially crazy for my store because two managers were let go and I was left to train new employees whose first day was...yesterday (Black Friday). We got through it okay, though, with really only one irate customer who was not able to return an item (due to no returns on Black Friday).
But, many of our sales are ongoing today, so we've still got some work ahead of us. It's been a crazy couple of weeks, as the two other managers who helped run the store ran the store into the ground. Now, it's up to me and a lady they sent from another store to get things back on track in the midst of the holiday maelstrom.
I'll admit, though, a good part of me really enjoys the excitement and challenge, though at the end of each shift it's hard to think straight.
Hope y'all had a nice Thanks Giving and no one got trampled to death.
I bought four games online yesterday. I would have bought a wiiu if there had been any around here, but stores were sold out. (Best Buy had the white ones but who the heck wants those??)
@Allicrombie LOL Yeah, our sister store had the Wii Us, and after Black Friday, all they had left were the white ones too. Guess folks like the sleek black look better.
I was thinking this year of trying seasonal work at one of the local stores just to pick up some extra part-time money, but the thought of Black Friday scared me away, although I think the news makes it worse than it actually is. But I still couldn't imagine having to deal with that situation where there are new employees, although I imagine once you get through it it will feel rewarding.
I'm truly glad to hear you have a meaningful and rewarding challenge in the midst of the holiday retail madness. It usually seem so senseless. Good luck and continued Happy Holidays! At least you know you'll sleep well after work, right?
@MrMartinLee You'd think, right? But with all the craziness going on with the staff, I've been waking up in the middle of the night due to anxiety. Thanks, though, man! Hope you get a chance to enjoy the holidays as well.
