Level up Abobo

Ive finally reached level 40 on Gamespot and I am now the rank of Abobo. This character actually brings back a lot of memories for me since I loved the double dragon series as a kid and its one of the things that I think of most when I reminisce about the 80's. Oh Abobo it was so much fun to push you out of a helicopter in Double Dragon 2.

Introduction
Now on the the main event. For this list I have decided to share some of my favorite anime fights (if it were manga there would be more), their not numbered since I cant really see naming any certain one as my favorite. Ill talk a bit about the fight but under them i will have links to the actual battles themselves so you guys can check them out. Some vids dont contain the full fight but enough to get the idea of what its like.
One other thing is that you wouldnt believe how hard it was to find some of this footage, I had no idea how many bad AMV's are on youtube until I started looking for something in its original form. Man why do so many people think we wanna hear their bad taste in music when trying to see these battles? It kinda drove me up a wall, and I almost didn't write this blog because I couldn't find good footage, but i managed to scrounge together the fight scenes for this one so I hope you guys enjoy it since i put some time into this one so watch all the vids you can when you have a chance.
I apologize if some of the videos dont work by the time you read this, youtube is very fickle when it comes to this.
(Incoming Spoilers Obviously)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My Top 11 Favorite Anime Fights
(in no particular order)
(And please no moaning about choices, these are my personal favorites. So dont expect something super obscure, you should expect plenty of dragonball by now
)---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gundam 00: 00 Raiser Vs Reborns Gundam

00 Raiser vs Reborns Gundam Video
This battle takes place at the end of season 2 and is the climactic clash between Setsuna F. Seiei pilot of the 00 Raiser, and Ribbons Almark the main villain and pilot of the Reborns gundam. While not the final final battle I think its just awesome, lasers everywhere, intense speed and some of the coolest scenes in the entire series. The other gundam meisters shine a bit too in this battle, but my favorite part is that it ends with both suits being totally trashed and exploding.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dragonball: Kid Goku vs Tenshinhan (Tien)

Good old dragonball, when things were much simpler and fights weren't done in blurs that cant be seen. This is probably the highlight of the series for me, so many different things happen during this battle and its a roller coaster ride the whole way through.Tien at this point in the series was pretty much an all around jerk, but he still had his honor as a fighter and eventually came around after this fight. From Tri-beam to tiens 4 armed technique it amps up continually and never lets up until the very end.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naruto Shippuden: Sasuke/Taka vs Killer Bee

After defeating his brother Itachi sasukeis ordered by Madara Uchiha to retrieve the 8 tailed host known was killer bee. This proves to be much harder than he and his team taka originally thought, they end up paying for their overconfidence in this fight. Sasuke repeatedly takes serious damage and is aided by his group, who finally manage to pull off a win (or so they think).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One Piece: Monkey D Luffy vs Rob Lucci

Hands down the fan favorite fight of this series we have luffy vs lucci of cypher pol #9. Lucci who is very arrogant stands in luffy's way while hes trying to save nico robin from the government, even though he is outmatched in every sense of the word. All the stops are pulled out in this fight and it has some of the best animation in the series. It all ends on the most ferocious flurry of punches I've seen plowed into a character in ananime.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dragonball Z: Gohan vs Cell Jr's

Gohan vs Cell Jr's Video (english)
This is the single moment that solidified Gohan as my favorite Dragonball character, sure i was warming up to him as a character long before but this sealed the deal. After being enraged by cell gohan unleashes all his fury on cells mini doubles in stunning fasion. No messing around, no gloating all business, he had become the strongest character in the series and handed out justice like no other. I almost though about putting the fight with cell on this list but i felt it had gone on for a long time and there wasnt any single moment that stood out other than the final kamehameha.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naruto: Naruto Vs Sasuke (Valley of the End)

(you'll have to turn off the up loader comments on this one)
Of all the fights I had to find on youtube this one certainly wasnt the hardest to find, but then again it was since finding it in its original form was a pain. First and foremost I love this fight, its the most visual battle in the entire series and rightly so since it ends the first part of the series. Friends fighting for their lives in an all out battle is nothing new but I felt it was done really well here and as the battle goes on you start to feel the characters bond and how their destined battle impacts them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fullmetal Alchemist: Edward Vs Greed

(you'll definitely want to turn off the comment quotes on this video, sorry but its the best i could find)
This IMO is the most dramatic fight in the series and greed is probably the best villain from it as well. He wants everything this world has to offer (and rightly so) but instead is double crossed and delt a fatal hand by his creator. Greed ends up helping ed in the end and turns out to actually be a sympathetic character after the battle. Although i must admit i laughed a bit at first when he met his demise since he gets rigamortis right after he dies.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dragonball Z:Goku Vs Vegeta

(again the captions will need to be turned off)
Probably the most famous fight in all of anime and manga this is the fight that made everyone a dragonball z fan. It has ups and downs and everything in between, with both character giving it there all. Its a visual feast and I cant really do it justice in this description so you'll have to see for yourself.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Street Fighter 2 The Animated Movie: Ryu vs Sagat

(this ones been edited so its a bit broken up)
What a way to start a movie eh? In fact id go as far as to say this is the best video game movie ever, although with its competition that isnt saying much. But regardless of that this movie is fantastic and one i can recommend to everyone, this battle sets the tone quite nicely as well. It shows ryu and sagats first fight in street fighter 1 and how sagat gained his scar, and what better place for it to be at than a grass field during a thunder storm.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naruto Shippuden: Sage Naruto vs Pain

(this is a long one and the full fight so dont feel obligated to watch all of it, the beginning and last videos will suffice)
This could very well be the culminating moment for naruto as a character, up until this point he had been a no talent ninja who had always been uncool in almost everyway. But this fight proved that he was more than that and that he had overcome a great deal to save his friends and to achieve his goal of becoming a powerful ninja.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dragonball Z: Gohan vs Buu

Gohan vs Buu Video (short version)
Gohan vs Buu Part 1 (Longer English Dub)
Gohan vs Buu Part 2 (Longer English Dub)
If this list had a number one id have to say this would be it. As my favorite moment in all of dragonball z this is where Gohan comes full circle as a character and warrior. Its kinda cool to see a character go from a pampered infant to a confident warrior over the course of the series but this moment illustrates it beautifully. Coming back from getting his inner ability released by elder kai gohan has reached a level far beyond anything in the series (much higher than SS3 if you can believe it), he appears in goku like fashion to help his friends at the last moment. From here on he mangles buu in every which way, just the sound of his punches can be felt by the view and seeing the character with this much confidence and power is something i enjoyed greatly, and Gohan utters the greatest line in the series to buu which would be "fight you? No I wanna kill you".
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And that about does it for my countdown, I hope you enjoyed it even if you dont like shonen series, and im hoping it wasn't too long and drug out like most of the fights
. Stay tuned for my next blog which will be my year end look back/Review of games. Thanks for reading

31Oct 10
Happy Halloween everyone!
First off im gonna start with my recently posted review of Castlevania Lords of Shadow. I don't write too many reviews, but this games is one i just felt i had to write one for, You can check out everything i have to say on it in the link below.
Castlevania Lords of Shadow Review

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next up is the game I've been playing for a few weeks, that would be
Naruto Ultiimate Ninja Storm 2

As it stands right now I've beaten the game and have pretty much experienced all it has to offer. All I can say that it is one of the if not the most faithful recreation of an anime as a game. It is a visual treat and the combat is fluid and very swift. I was actually surprised how well done the adventure mode was, the one in the last game left something to be desired and while this one isnt a huge step forward its definitely a step in a direction that I enjoy much more. In the first game you are tasked with doing a number of missions all throughout the leaf village, and this game isn't much different, but for some reason it felt like a much easier and more enjoyable experience

While mundane tasks are all throughout the main story, the battles and flair of the rest of the game totally makes up for it. You pretty much start the game at the beginning of the shippuden series and end up at the battle with Pain in the Leaf village. During then you will encounter many battles, whether they are part of the main story or a side mission you'll have plenty to do.

And thus brings us to my favorite part of the game which is the boss battles. Each one is a straight up ocular spectacle that does an even better job of displaying the combat than the anime does. During these fights you will be able to move freely, but in quick instances you will have to complete quick time events to finish the fight. At first the game gets you very familiar with one on one combat, but things get turned upside down when a boss battle comes in. The entire type of battle changes depending on what scene is taking place, say for instance the garra Deidara fight which turns into a rail shooter once a certain event is initiated. I love how they went all out with these and weren't afraid to change gameplay up for the sake of it.

(awesome epic battles are the name of the game, and they are fantastic)

All in all id have to say I really enjoyed the game, and I couldn't imagine a better anime game translation than this. I'm still playing through it right now to finish a few more events and stuff like that, but ill be moving onto a new game pretty soon. I played a good amount of the online portion as well, it works well but is very laggy sometimes, and people only seem to use spam characters like sage mode naruto for wins. Which leads into my next section.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Platinum Trophies are they worth it?

Ok to start off i just wanna state that i don't have any platinum trophies, nearly all my friends and everyone here on gamespot has at least one, but i have none. While normally i could care less about trophies as a whole I was very intrigued at the possibility that i could get one in Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2. I had managed to get 60% on my own through the game and thought to myself that "hey i might be able to pull this off at last". So i worked through all the easy trophies and ended up coming to one of the more difficult ones. This difficult trophy required me to win 10 ranked battles in online matches, sure it sounds easy enough but man it was not fun. After trudging through something like 30 matches i only managed to win 5 or so, I clearly sucked at this game but i still wanted the trophy. So i managed to keep at it and finally got through to ten wins. Online is full of people who have just torn me to shreds and end up usually using cheap tactics to win, and I'm guilty of it as well since after a while my record was something like 7 and 19. So after that i was hoping to never go back to the online portion after that, online gaming has never been something Ive cared about since I don't like being that competitive, id rather just have fun with it. Assuming the worst was behind me I carried on with trying to get more trophies until i came to the deal breaker, I had recently looked up a list of all the trophies and what their conditions were for getting them. And low and behold i come to one that just causes everything to come to a halt, one of the trophies consists of getting every title in the game which is gained by performing certain actions throughout the game. The one that halted me was a title that required me to win 50 online matches, yea 50 when just 10 was hell for me. Needless to say that's what brings me to write this as of right now, and i have to ask myself is it really worth it? I play games to enjoy an incredible experience, sure its good to have little acknowledgements here and there but why must they require a form of grinding? The requirements are just ridiculous sometimes, and i figure id be better off just forgetting about them since it sucks all the fun out of it for me. The game requires some stuff such as using each character 30 times, maxing out the games currency and other such things. I not saying trophies are bad or anything like that, i guess its just one of the reasons they have never been that much of a priority for me, hopefully one game will come along and make it easy enough for me to enjoy getting the trophies but as of now it just seems like a gaming chore and way more time than its worth for me.
End Rant
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One other thing that I've been following really closely is Marvel Vs Capcom 3, and since my last blog many new awesome characters have been revealed.
The first of which is a character I have wanted to see in one of these games for ages, and that would be sir Arthur from Ghosts and Goblins. Its good to see the little guy finally getting the representation he deserves

Next is the Web slinger himself spiderman, his return is no surprise but im glad to see him finally return, and the best part is he now has the symbiote suit as an alt costume. On the flip side one of my favorite capcom characters has finally made the roster, spencer from Bionic Commando has arrived and i couldn't be happier, i do wish they had chosen his rearmed design but im just glad hes in at all.

This games roster has pleased me greatly, from containing veterans to representing new faces and old ones it seems like the quite different fromthe smash bros brawl roster which left me somewhat disappointed (Im looking at you rob and toon link). For the most part the brawls roster was fantastic, so i don't want to give anyone the impression that i didn't like it, snake was a godsend for that game, I only dislike Toon link, ROB, and some of the clones.
And just recently it has been somewhat leaked that Mike Hagger from final fight fame is in the game, apparently Capcom Unity accidentally leaked an image of him while showing pictures of capcom employees and their holloween costumes. You can see it below, its also been yanked from that site since then so that may be proof of something.

Nothing can be stated as a solid confirmation yet, but id say that it is a pretty safe bet that he is in this game. He even has the MvsC3'S art design, if he is in this game ill be very happy.Spencer Arthur and Haggar were my most wanted characters, and this would definitely make my dream come true.

Since its October I always have a few traditions that I continue to do, one of those is playing a Castlevania game, and the other is Watching horror and monster movies. Here's a few I've watched in the over the course of the month.

Old new, and everything in between I've watched them all this month and its been a blast. I just love October, Here's a song from Bubba Ho-tep i just cant get enough of, its just so damn epic.
Hope you guys enjoyed the read, I tried to keep it short this time. Have a great Halloween and thanks for reading.

30Sep 10
Time has been going by pretty fast as of late, and I'm glad September is finally nearing its end (i hate September). Which makes me glad that October my favorite month of the year is right around the corner.
I figured it was time for a small update anyway
(Beware of Visible Spoilers for One Piece and Naruto in the Manga section)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gaming
Castlevania Lords of Shadow
As a tradition of mine i always play a castlevania game in October, and luckily for me they always happen to release them exactly within that month. This time ill be checking out Castlevania Lords of shadow which is a pretty different take on the series.

Ive seen that it hasn't gotten very stellar reviews but then again as I've said before ill be the judge of whether or not i enjoy an experience. Ill be picking it up next week, I'm not sure if i should get the collectors edition or not, since i do enjoy all the extra junk they come with, although $70 is kinda pushing it. So far the game looks excellent though, my only gripe i have is that the artwork and feeling it has seems more like mid evil Scotland than the gothic Romanian art design the other games had, but we will see. Ill probably give my impressions of that one in a blog later in the month.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bowser's Inside Story
Here's one game that surprised the hell out of me, I have had this game since last christmas yet i didn't get around to playing it till this month. Man this game blew me away, it has now become my favorite DS game of all time. It has so many things that make it great IMO, good characters, great dialog and an excellent battle system. RPG's aren't my forte but this one delivered, and best of all it let me play as my favorite mario character who finally got the respect he deserves. I loved every minute of it, especially the giant boss battles where you as a godzilla sized bowser get to just wail on your opponents. After playing this one i am definitely excited for the next installment in the series, i have a strange scenario for where id like the next game to go. Id like to see the next one take place in the dream world from mario bros 2 where wart is trying to escape the dream world he has already taken over, its up to the mario bros and coincidentally the wario bros to help them in returning peace. A bit far fetched but a man can dream.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Metroid Other M
Last time i posted my rant about some bad reviews of other m, since i had to vent. Since then i have beaten the game 100%, and i can honestly say that i thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. It had great pacing, a good story and finally brought some back story to a character I've wanted to know about for some time. It also had some surprising twists along the way, and the combat was awesome and very precise considering the small amount of buttons used in the control scheme. The game has a few problems such as the slowed down FPS detective sections but they did not derail the game for me at all. Some people who dislike the game are still going on about how the game changed the way the feel about samus, but for me it turned out just fine and I'm so happy nintendo tried something completely different and out of left field for them, change is good as far as I'm concerned. I forgot to mention that the boss fights are excellent and very tense, one in particular stands out a lot for me but I wont spoil it by saying anymore.

And below here is my favorite scene in the game (beware massive spoilers)
*drools* so pretty

------------------------------------------------------------------
Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2
Here's a game that I'm really looking forward to. The first was one of my first ps3 games and the battle system was great with some of the most fluid animations I've ever seen. The second takes place in part 2 of the series and has a roster of over 40 characters, some of which I've wanted to play as for a long time. And the best part is that i get this game for free, yea you heard me right, my moms credit card gains points over a long period of time and because of this she has received a sears gift card that she is giving me to use (Thanks ma
). Ill give my impressions on this one too later down the line.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Legendary Starfy
And last but not least we have a DS game that I've had my eye on for a while. I haven't picked it up yet but i have wanted to give it a try ever since nintendo decided to bring it stateside. And now seems like a good a time as any since the game is only $15, ill probably pick it up over the weekend. It may be a little overly cute, but I'm open to any gaming experience so I'm gonna give it a chance like i do with every game.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
3DS
Oh and I guess i should mention that im really excited about all the 3DS games coming
The more i learn about these two the more i get super excited. Although I did mention them in a previous blog

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Manga/Collectables Update
Figures
So recently i ordered a small one piece Magellan diorama log box figure, and man it looks great check it out.

Its a recreation of this scene

I am running out of room on this shelf though
, time to shift things around a bit it would seem.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Manga
One Piece
The times they are a changing, and now one piece has returned from its 4 week break and 2 year timeskip. The first chapter was great and Im really excited to see where the series can go from here. The new character designs also look pretty good too. Here's hoping many adventures lie ahead, as you can tell by my avatar.
(is anyone else bugged by how much gamespot messes up? none of the spoiler tags work since it says the html is messed up so alot of my pictures have to be linked and it drives me nuts)
Naruto
One of my favorite characters has fallen, let us honor him
RIP Kisame
chapter 139 - 508

truly a death befitting of a shinobi
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
School Project
I'm well on my way through my level design course at college, Its pretty cool so far but very time consuming. Here's a few pics of my first project, its very basic but for a first try its not too bad. The program i used was called unity 3D made for making iphone games, and all the 3D modeling was done in MODO. Hopefully my next one will be much better, this one is a jungle base, but the next one has to be a prison escape level so well see how it goes.

There are grass and rocks in this level but they only load in when your up close so it looks pretty bare in these shots
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And that about wraps it up for this one, sorry if i went on for too long
Thanks for reading guys and enjoy the rest of your week.

Yes todays the day, time flies by doesn't it, I can still remember being a little kid when things were much simpler and each day was a wonderful and new adventure, getting old sucks
. But that's why we have games, you can continue to experience things you never normally could for many years to come no matter how old you are. Listen to me i sound like an old fogey
25 years have come and gone and gaming has changed so much. Ive changed with it but one thing remains true over the course of these years is that I'm grateful for all the fantastic experiences and stories ive seen along the way, and I'm sure you guys can relate as well. From super mario bros, all the way till now I've seen it all, and it can only get better from here on out.

(just getting started)
On a side note one thing to look forward to on my 25th birthday is that my brother is going to take me to my favorite sushi restaurant. Oh man i cant wait to get me some godzilla rolls. Other than that I'm looking forward to picking up metroid other m on Tuesday.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gaming Update
As far as gaming goes I haven't been doing to much of it, the lack of releases isn't helping either. After Peace Walker I never bothered to start any other games since i figured i wouldn't finish by the time Metroid other M came out.

(Rant Incoming!)
Speaking of which the game has been getting pretty solid reviews all around, except for a few that seem to have soured a lot of peoples views on it for one reason or another. The one that seems to be causing the most controversy would be the G4 review by Abbie Heppe who gave it a 2 out of 5. First off let me say why of all times does it seem like people are taking g4's reviews to heart when a month ago no one really gave a crap. But anyway she lays out the problems she has with the game and some of them seem understandable but the one she has the biggest problem with it seems is the way samus is portrayed. She seems to think that samus was meant to be a gung ho character like no other (we weren't given any indication of this but i guess its a safe assumption), but because of this she is rather mad that samus wasn't the way she had envisioned her to be. Samus never had any characterization before so we never really knew what she would be like, i for one never expected my personal vision of samus to be bestowed upon the character since it probably would never happen if she had her own personality, but it seems the reviewer was hoping for it.
After that the review goes downhill and turns into a hate filled mess that pretty much goes on and on about how samus is whiny and the game is sexist since she is obedient to her commander in the game and what not (he is her commander so i don't see why following orders is something new), and its just not really informative at all which is the sole reason reviews exist, some of her faults with the game are even contradicted by at least 4 other reviews. I know a review is one persons opinion but whether reviewers believe it or not they have a lot of power, and that power over their viewers is a very fragile thing. She even did a follow up to the review they filmed the day before (suspicious) and she just states why she gave it what it got, but it comes off as pompous and you can see shes visibly upset for some reason, is there more to this review than im seeing or is she that upset over samus's new personality? Some people may believe full force that one review may be the end all be all, when it shouldn't be but there's no stopping some people when it comes to this.
That is why i think its a bit of a shame since while reading this review i saw a number of comments that read like "Guess ill have to cancel my pre-order", and "wow they screwed up bad". Its stuff like this that bothers me, and its unfortunate to see one persons view of a game cause so many people to not even experience the game for themselves because of it. Many of us are smarter than that but that doesn't mean it still doesn't happen. Ill be the judge of the game for myself since everyones personal experience is different, a review should state facts and aspects of the game more than anything else, things get skewed when a reviewer pours their personal feelings all over the experience and then state it as if everyone would feel that way. But i digress its not that big of a deal, and by all intents purposes shouldn't have had the kind of impact it did since the game seems to be well received.
Sorry for that long winded somewhat harsh rant but i just felt it had to be said, its one of the reasons i think gaming reviews need a major overhaul

Im confident ill enjoy the game, like samus im in control of my own destiny
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anime/Manga Update
In manga news I'm still keeping up with Naruto and One Piece on a weekly basis. Each weeks chapter has its high and low points, but overall their getting pretty good.
(One Piece and Naruto Manga spoilers ahead)
I would have put spoiler tags on these but for some reason glitchspot will not let me
One Piece
One piece's incoming timeskip should prove very interesting, as it did with many other series including Dragonball, and naruto. Im very eager to see how much each character has changed and grown through this two year leap ahead, the only hard part will be waiting for the next chapter to come out in 4 weeks.

Naruto
After just gaining control of the nine tailed fox naruto has certainly picked up steam, this past week was pretty cool since it gave us a brief glimpse into kisame's past, although i get the feeling he isnt gonna be around for much longer.

(end spoilers)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As far as manga I've bought goes i actually got into a new series, and that series is:
TORIKO

Here's a brief synopsis of what its about:
In a world where the taste and texture of food is extremely important there exist individuals known as Gourmet Hunters (Bishoku-ya) who specialize in the acquisition of rare ingredients and animals. Toriko is one of these hunters and it is his dream to find the most precious foods in the world and create the ultimate dinner course. As one of the most skilled hunters in the world he is regularly hired by restaurants and the rich to seek out new ingredients and rare animals. A man with inhuman ability, he utilizes his incredible strength and knowledge of the animal kingdom to capture ferocious, evasive and rare beasts to further his final goal, the ultimate dinner course composed of the most delicious food in the world. He is currently accompanied by a weak and timid chef who, inspired by Toriko's ambition, travels with him to improve his culinary skills and find rare ingredients.
Also adding to the struggle is the Bishoku-kai, an organization that seeks to take control of the world's entire food supply.

Its actually pretty good and gets better with each chapter, and whats crazy is seeing all the food in the manga and how its drawn really makes you hungry while reading it which is kinda strange in a good way
. Ive only got the first volume so far (ive read much farther via scanlations), but the second book should get released soon. It may be a bit of a cliche shonen series but i like it, there's also an OVA anime out there to for anyone who would like to check it out, a series is down the pipeline from what ive heard.Other manga I've bought besides would be the giant volumes of the original dragonball manga. These VizBig volumes are great, uncensored as well as huge and vibrant, Id been thinking about collecting the rest of the series for a while but since i didn't feel like collecting 16 small volumes the big ones were the logical choice. I have two volumes of the small ones but their quality just doesn't even compare, if you've ever considered buying the series id recommend these above all else.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anime
As far as anime goes I've managed to pick up the gundam movie trilogy 3 disc set. its pretty cool but i kinda wish it had a dub since for some reason the movies are all Japanese and only have English subs. I can understand how some people would enjoy the series in its purest form, hell i watch subbed anime all the time, but i still wish they would have given it a dub since its very wordy and i feel as though I'm missing some of the action since most of the time I'm reading instead of watching.

And another show i stared watching was the witchblade anime. Its a good series so far and im on episode 12, it has a bit more fanservice than i was prepared for but I'm not gonna complain
.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(and last but not least)
Collectible Junk Update
One thing i got for my birthday is this Snake/Big Boss play arts kai figure made by square enix oddly enough

Its a pretty awesome figure based off snake from peacewalker, and ill probably get the jungle fatigues version later on
And One other thing i managed to just pre order, its part of the one piece Portrait of a Pirate series, its none other than WhiteBeard

This one set me back quite a bit, but it doesn't come till December which is a good buffer zone as far as I'm concerned

Hes gonna look awesome on my shelf though thats for sure
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And that's about it guys, not much else to say other than I'm back in school and about to star my video game level design course which should be cool like the others. Although as most of you know I'm not fond of school period

And for some reason i had to redo this blog a number of times since gamespot keeps telling me i have html errors, so i may change some stuff and update a bit.
And as always thanks again for reading guys.

Sorry for the rather obscure title, its a quote from Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker.
Anyway its been a while (i always say that
) but i figured time to update this thing so here goes.Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker Final Impressions

A few days ago i finished MGS Peacewalker for the PSP, and all i can say is that it was a fantastic game and probably my favorite handheld game ever and that's saying quite a bit. Its so massive that even though i have beaten a good amount of it there is still so much more to do. Usually i have trouble connecting with and focusing on most handheld games, but this one sucked me in and told a magnificent tale i wont soon forget.

I'm a big metal gear fan and this one delivered, Big Boss has always been my favorite character and seeing his journey continue was great. Even the Monster Hunter battles are pretty good (some are really hard), but they fit in pretty well compared to some of the other battles. Ive played a few Co-Op Battles with my friend Nathan and there pretty fun and you can really see where the teamwork aspect of this game comes into play. Building MSF (Snakes Army) over the course of the game has got to be one of my favorite aspects, and once all is said and done, you will have created a powerful military power with your hand selected troops.

Mother Base only gets bigger from here on, at the end mine was so big it made this one look like a gas station.

It has a few faults as all games do like inconsistent boss difficulty and a few control issues, but the overall package and design outweighs all of that IMO. I'm still listening to some of the briefing tapes at the moment which add alot of depth to the characters and their backgrounds. As far as I'm concerned anybody who's a fan of the series should pick up this game, and you needn't worry since it is nothing like Portable ops and completely blows that game out of the water.

Heres one of the best themes in the game, at 2:06 in the song its awesome, when this is playing during a battle it just feels so epic.

Other Gaming Related Stuff
Super Mario Galaxy 2
So i never had a chance to talk about Galaxy 2, i guess now is a good a time as any. Well i can honestly say its a fantastic game with tons of new ideas and great gameplay aspects. But when all is said and done i still feel like i enjoyed the original a bit more, it could be because that it was a bit fresher back then, or that i like the overall plot and presentation was a bit better in the first, but for some reason i just cant place 2 over the original. There both great games though regardless.

Dragonball: Revenge of King Piccolo
I managed to pick up this game at best buy for $20, its one of those games ive been meaning to buy and i always pass up when i am at the store. But since it was the last sealed copy i had to buy it, and so far its not bad. Its a standard beat em up anime type game but i cant deny the charm that the original dragonball has.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E3 games
Since i never made a blog during E3 (since i figured it would get lost among everyone elses) Ive decided to post a few games that were shown that im looking forward to.
Donkey Kong Country Retruns
I never thought id see the day this series made a glorious comeback, but nintendo delivered and i couldn't be happier. Retro seems like they have a good grasp around the series and they are looking to add there own touch to the game while retaining what made the original good. A lot of people who were long time fans are upset about the lack of kremlings or the villain King K Rool, and well I guess I'm the minority in that i am actually somewhat happy they aren't returning, i was never a big fan of them to begin with and DK's games need some new villains, im just happy were getting a DKC game regardless. All in all this game looks promising and the fact its coming out this year is even better.

This sunset stage looks amazing

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hard Corps: Uprising
I don't know much about this game but what i do know is that it looks awesome. Its not contra but it might as well be with its awesome sprites and spread gun action, i cant wait to learn more about this one.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
At last the new legend has been revealed and the controls have peaked my interest quite a bit. I wasn't too excited about the art design since it kind turned me off at first, but after seeing the artwork, game in motion, and other aspects its really grown on me and i like it a lot now (I'm just happy it isn't toon link again). Not much looks to have changed formula wise but its still very early and i never expected anything but a standard zelda experience so ill be plenty happy with what ever they do with the game. And as you can see its the inspiration for my new banner.

you gotta have courage to jump into the abyss
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Yet another series i thought id never see return was kid Icarus, Pit makes his glorious comeback, and it is one of the main titles coming out of the Nintendo 3DS. Cant wait to fly high as pit once again (although he never really flew too high in the original
)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mortal Kombat
Been a while since i was really excited for a mortal kombat game (around 2004 for deception to be exact). They have brought things back to basics ala street fighter 4 and it looks like a blast, no more DC nonsense and lack of violence here, its got everything i remember from back in the day and more.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3DS Remakes
There are a few games for the 3DS that are still in development but they have me really excited, and here are a few of them i cant wait to replay with new added features and updated visuals.
MGS3:Naked Sample (tentative name)

Starfox 64 3DS

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3DS

(I cannot contain my excitement for this one, my favorite game of all time is being remade
)There are a few more like Castlevania, Marvel vs Capcom 3 etc. but i dont want to make this blog longer than it needs to be.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Manga Anime News
In manga news im still collecting a few more one piece volumes and a few naruto ones as well, heres the ones i picked up recently

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And that's pretty much it, There were a few things i wanted to put in this blog like more of my 3D Dot Game hero creations that i made based on the feedback you guys gave me before, but i got lazy and didn't get a chance to upload those pictures off my PS3 so i may post those sometime in the future.
Anyway I hope you guys didn't get tired of too much reading
Thanks again for reading and commenting guys.

I Don't think I've done too many back to back blogs but i figured why not go for it.
As many of you know i recently got the game 3d dot game heroes, and all i can say is that its great and I'm having alot of fun with it right now. It almost identical to the original zelda titles but it has a charm all its own and it makes me very nostalgic for the games of yesteryear. I may end up doing a review of it when I'm finished so ill post that when i complete the game.
Anyway the game has a fantastic character creation system that lets you make pretty much anything you want out of square pixels and play with said character in the game. Ive spent hours just messing with all the possible combinations and creations i could think of so id like to show you guys a few I've done, i may end up adding more characters to this blog so check back once in a while.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3D DOT GAME HERO CREATIONS
Magellan (One Piece)

I had a bit of trouble with this guy at first since he has a lot of details and with so little cubes to work with getting him to look like the character was a bit of a pain. But i think he turned out pretty good for my first character.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Black Mage (Final Fantasy)

I like this one a lot, since the game gives off an old school fantasy type vibe i had to make this guy. I also think the staff works pretty well too since i have it moving when he walks and he also puts it in front of him when he attacks.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cheeseburger

, ok this one was just a bit of randomness, i kept thinking of the arcade game burger time and so i thought id try my hand at making a burger character. Not the greatest hero but it is funny to see pickles come out when it attacks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kisame (Naruto)

Ah kisame your sword goes perfectly with this game. This one turned out pretty good as well, im still a bit disappointed with his face though since it gets lost in the pixels (his face is covered up by the cloak and his white eyes are poking out, while one white square is used for his headband). His sword turned out great though and it disappears when he attacks so it looks as if hes using it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Luffy (One Piece)

Hmm well this one is still a work in progress, i haven't finished him completely and I'm not quite satisfied with the way it looks, but oh well ill let you guys be the judge of how this one turned out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
King Hippo (Punch Out)

And last but not least is the lovable oaf king hippo, i created him since i wanted a character who wasn't a standard shape and he just looks funny. I worked on this guy till 5 in the morning and he turned out much better than i actually thought he would, especially some of his other poses.

Anyway hope you guys liked those and I'm gonna be doing a bunch more, I'm not sure who to do next though, any suggestions?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Manga Update
So i picked up a few more volumes of one piece and one volume of Naruto. Im really getting back into manga again and reading them is pretty relaxing. The only problem is that buying more than a few gets expensive so i can only get some every once in a while, and boarders usually sends out coupons so i take advantage of that
.Anyway here are the volumes i bought.

Oh and before i finish this section let me show you one of the greatest scenes to ever appear in the one piece anime
One Piece Venom Demon vs Gear Thrid Vid
This scene was in the last new episode

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Collage Final
And last but not least ill show you my final project for my video game art design Course. For this project we had to make anything we wanted but there was a limit of 2000 polygons (which aint much) so it would work within a game. After countless hours of trying to figure out what i could make that would be relatively simple yet still complex and then it hit me, ill make the spirit train from the legend of zelda the spirit tracks. So i did and i managed to turn it in on time and get an A, it turned out better in the program than the render but the image still looks alright, its just the colors that look less bright.

So anyway thanks again for reading guys and have a good weekend

24Apr 10
Hey guys I'm doing this blog since its about time i give you guys an update.
Yay! I've reached level 33 Goombella, i forgot to mention last time that my level was snake eater which was probably my favorite rank. But other than that this is my 25th blog (which is my lucky number) so to all of you who have checked out my blogs up until now i thank you for taking the time to read them and leaving the great comments, anyway lets move on
First off in the first week of April my friends and i went to the annual San Fransico wondercon which is a convention held there every year. Its got everything such as comics, anime, games and everything else in between, i used to go to a much bigger convention in sandiego called comicon but i just haven't had the money to go to that one for a while.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And here are a few things i managed to pick up while i was there
First off i found a few one piece and Dragonball Z figures i had been looking for

From the left to right: Luffy, Robin (small), Zoro, and SS3 goku

The Zoro Figure is probably my favorite of the three, he goes with a set that's called DBZ X one piece and is paired with a piccolo figure but i never bought that one. The Goku figure is ridiculously ripped, but then again the figure is in a collection called max muscle DBZ.
And two other figures i found were this Soulcalibur nightmare figure and this awesome MGS3 snake figure

the only thing that kinds sucks is that i bought the nightmare figure open and he was missing his sword and a shoulder pad

All in all Id have to say I found some pretty good stuff, not quite everything i wanted but a good amount non the less.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In gaming related stuff
As most of you may or may not know I've been kind of out of it lately, i don't know why but i just haven't had the urge to play any games lately. Whether its my lack of money or the lack of games I'm interested in right now i just haven't been feeling like myself as far as that's concerned, and some of you may have seen me log into PSN once in a while but thats pretty much me just watching movies or netflix. But i think i may get out of this funk pretty soon since the game 3D Dot Game heroes looks fantastic. It may just be the thing to reinvigorate my gaming habits, since I'm a huge zelda fan so this is right up my alley and I've been very eager to check it out. I reserved it and MGS peacewalker the other day, I'm thinking of what character to create in the game at the moment but i haven't settled on anything, and with its small amount of trophies i think this may be the first game i finally get a platinum on. May 11th cant come soon enough

Ive also decided to hold off on a few titles till the summer such as God of War 3 and Super Street Fighter 4, ill get to those titles but just not right away. Although Red dead redemption has definitely peaked my interest, i loved the first one and this one looks ten times better.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anime/Manga
My last blog was about my top 15 favorite anime characters, and im glad it got a pretty positive reception from you guys which is great. Although after writing it i found out i completely forgot about a few of my favorite characters, so sometime down the line i will do a top 25 list and perhaps rearrange my choices so stay tuned for that, but for now i think what i have done is good enough.
In Manga stuff ive just been keeping up with one piece and naruto, and ive also decided to try and collect every monthly One piece release starting from Volume 41. Heres two volumes i managed to pick up the other day

they release about 2 or 3 a month which is just fine with me since i dont think i could afford or keep up with more than that

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Randomness
Oh i also find this toad in my back yard randomly, i kept him in a bucket till my parents finished mowing the lawn so he wouldn't get caught in the way, then i let him go. Ive always been fascinated with small critters and its been quite a while since I've found a wild toad roaming around.

Anyway ill keep this one brief, so thanks for reading guys and have a great weekend.

14Mar 10
Before i start my countdown id like to show you guys what ive been up to lately, and sorry for those of you who's blogs i haven't had time to post on recently.
This is gonna be a long one guys.
Recently Ive been really getting into the series One Piece, i have been watching alot of episodes and trying to catch up on the manga too. Since the first english dub of one piece was so bad i think many people gave up on the series (i hate you 4kids dub), but i think the new funimation dub has salvaged it quite a bit. Im currently watching the newest japanese subbed one piece at the moment, during the whole Impel down story arc.
And heres a few new graphic novels i picked up recently too,

Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past
Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
One Piece: East Blue volume 4-6
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright as many of you know i enjoy manga and anime quite a bit, and if you dont know look at my screen name
So it took me a while but i think I've narrowed down my top 15 favorite anime characters.possible spoilers ahead
15. Jimmy Kudo/Conan Edogawa
(Case Closed)

There aren't too many really intelligent characters in Anime, but the few that are really stand out and Jimmy/Conan is one of those. Having been turned into a child by an evil organization and dawning the persona of Conan, jimmy is in a bit of a dilemma. But being in the situation that hes in he handles it pretty well, he solves mysteries and is probably the most perceptive character I've ever seen. Hes still a high school student (or at least he was) so he is somewhat cocky but he always thinks before he acts, Just watching him in the show makes me kinda wish i was a detective, although i doubt mysteries in real life are as complex and thought out as some are in cased closed
. With a keen eye for detail one truth prevails. (i couldn't resist)14. Kenpachi Zeraki
(Bleach)

When someone mentions an over the top no holds bars character i immediately think of this guy. He may not be the most interesting or different character in bleach but hes my favorite simply based on the fact of how reckless and crazy he can be. Just when you think hes been defeated he brushes it off as if a small breeze blew by him. It seems hes frequently underestimated by many captains in the soul society since he lacks a bankai, and i find it hilarious when he turns the tables on them. Even in defeat he is eager for a rematch and looks forward to a good challenge. His lieutenant Yachiru is also a good contrast to him and since shes much more playful and happy character which balances quite well with his usually serious demeanor.
13 . Kisame Hoshigaki
(Naruto)

The most underestimated Akastsuki member by far has to be Kisame. Before his battle with killer bee many assumed he was one of the if not the weakest member of the group. But all that changed once he showed his true potential and ability with his sword "Samehada". He showed that he was capable of power on the level of the tailed beasts and that he had been holding back for quite some time. This alone makes him a character I like quite a bit, and his true abilities are pretty cool but i don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't seen them yet.
12. Greed
(Fullmetal Alchemist)

The living embodiment of a sin this character is all about his namesake which is why he stands out. Hes greedy plain and simple he wants all the world has to offer, and out of all the homunculus he actually seems to think for him self and rebel even if it ends up being a big mistake. My favorite thing about greed is his ultimate shield, he goes from being a calm laid back normal looking guy to a dark looking monster instantly. And i cant wait to see him in fullmetal alchemist brotherhood (since i haven't seen it all yet), and i always felt his time was cut to short in the first series so here's hoping he plays a bigger role this time around.
11. Spike Spiegel
(Cowboy Bebop)

Spike has always been a very interesting character to me and his reckless spontaneity makes him a very dynamic character. Laid back and calm he is a very stark contrast compared to most anime characters who are loud and grating at times. And hes just plain awesome in the fact that hes so random. He has a rather dark past that can only be explained well enough by the series so I'm not gonna bother trying to sum it up here, but i can honestly say even if he isn't my top favorite character hes definitely one of the best anime characters there is.
10.Naruto Uzumaki
(Naruto)

On the outside this character may seem to be your typical shonen character, dumb, unfocused etc. but he is much more than he appears IMO. He is actually a pretty deep character, and in the shippuden series he seems to have become a much more subtle and likable character. He knows the value of hard work and also knows when to have some restraint, yet he still runs in head first from time to time. He has shown that he actually has a lot of faults which i notice some series tend to not show that side of their character. He was once a loner but know has friends and values the bond that they share more than anything, one moment you'll think hes being stubborn and dumb but the next he will show that he had thought out what he was doing the whole time. With his newly acquired sage mode, and the numerous rasengan variations he has come a long way from being the worst ninja in the leaf village. Its also pretty cool to see him have an effect on every one he comes in contact with, and being the main character of his series it seems he is somewhat out of the limelight which is a shame since i think hes a great character.
9. Warden Magellan
(One Piece)

A newcomer as one of my favorites this character has quickly shot up in the ranks to become one of my favorite anime/manga characters. He is known as the chief Warden of Impel down, a massive underwater prison that houses some of the most dangerous criminals. And being one of the only characters to utterly defeat Monkey D luffy without getting beaten up afterwords makes Magellan a force to be reckoned with. Since Eating the venom venom fruit he is able to use liquid poison as his weapon which he can manipulate into many different things such as his hydra attack and his hells judgement attack. He also has some pretty funny quirks, being a man of poison he loves poisoned foods and as a result he has diarrhea for about 8 hours a day. Hes also somewhat of a shut in and likes the darkness ( I can relate
), and when his staff of underlings act up with him he will occasionally sigh a giant poisonous gas cloud which causes them to freak out in a hilarious manner. And overall i think he just looks pretty striking as well since he resembles a demon in a soldiers outfit, he is definitely my favorite character in one piece.8. Agito Makishima/ Guyver 3
(Guyver Bio-Boosted Armor)

Agito is not the main character of the guyver series, but he definitely stole the show IMO. With the power of the 3rd biobooster armor Agito/guyver 3 is a character i think is very cool. As the son of the founder of the chronos company agito has rebelled against his father and the evil organization to help the main character sho fukamatchi in his fight against the monstrous zoanoids. Not much more i can really say about this character other than that i like him a lot in the series and hes the character who is reliable and pretty cool as a sort of anti hero.
7. Sasori
(Naruto)

I seem to like characters that use poison for some reason but regardless of that Sasori is the only other Akatsuki member i truly find interesting. Sasori is usually underestimated but i think he may very well be one of the most dangerous out of the whole group. The most interesting part about him is his weird murderous tendencies, and how he views them as his art form. Hes almost like a weird serial killer in a way, you know what hes done is wrong but yet a part of you is still intrigued by his insanity. For starters he literally turns his victims into his weapons, by hollowing out there bodies and turning them into his puppet weapons. If that ain't creepy enough he actually uses one as his shield and close range weapon which he hides inside and manipulates, this also keeps him hidden. Sasori no longer has a physical form sine he has turned himself into one dangerous shinobi puppet, with more tricks up his sleeve than you can imagine. Hes also partnered with a character that compliments his own abilities, and its fun to watch him and Daidara bicker over who's skills are really considered art, and as an artist myself i find it quite funny.
6. Light Yagami
(Death Note)

This character is one of the most conniving messed up weirdos in all of manga and anime, and that's his best feature IMO. As one of the only times a main character is the villain light manages to make himself likable while also being a total monster at the same time. He is utterly brilliant in his methods of using the death note but he is also very pompous and arrogant which eventually brings about his undoing. Acting as a nice guy on the outside while cleverly covering his murderous tracks at all costs, light makes the entire death note series a roller coaster of suspense. He also gets you thinking about morality and whether what hes doing is right or wrong. And I know I'm not the only one who was hoping hed give that little punk near what was coming to him

5. Kiyone Makibi
(Tenchi Universe)

As the only female character on my list, Kiyone stands apart from the others and is definitely my favorite anime heroine hands down. Being the only character in the tenchi muyo series who isn't hopelessly attracted to tenchi i find her to be quite likable. Shes level headed, strong and also very smart, which usually keeps the whole group intact. I like her because she is different than most anime girls since she isn't bubbly or overly obnoxious (unless shes chewing out mihoshi which is usually deserved) and she doesn't really fall into a stereo type as much as many other anime girls do. And as a galaxy police officer she can hold her own in any situation. She is also burdened with a dult for a partner known as mihoshi who usually means well when doing her job but she always ends up screwing poor kiyone over time after time which leads them to being stationed on earth which it seems is almost like being demoted in kiyone's eyes. Im sad to see that kiyone didn't have a bigger role in the one tenchi series she was in, but in the series she was in i think she was a fantastic character.
4. Sasuke Uchiha
(Naruto)

Sasuke is the quintessential cool character that pretty much every series has, and from the very beginning he has always seemed to keep his composure and somehow be admired by every character around him. But as of late sasuke has become a very different character in contrast to his lone avenger of justice personality he used to have in the first Naruto series. Since leaving the leaf village his hate and utter lack of care for anyone around him has come to the surface. In some of the most recent manga chapters Sasuke has the entire shinobi world after him for what hes done and what hes about to do. As of now i like him as a character more than ever, since hes pretty much gone off the deep end and come very close to murdering his past comrades. I like that hes become a very complex villain of sorts and the fact that hes becoming more nuts and dangerous by the day. With his clans complex past and his rather unique and large list of powers i think hes one of the best characters to come out of anime and manga in years.
3. Domon Kasshu
(Mobile Fighter G-Gundam)

Don't you wish sometimes that characters would just be angry and lash out instead of being emotional? Well Domon is that character. Entering the gundam fight in order to save his father and also gain revenge by defeating his brother kyoji who now pilots the Dark Gundam. Domon is usually seen screaming or fighting out of anger, which usually overwhelms his opponents completely, that and the power of his Burning Gundam. After about half way through the series though he grows a bit as character and learns a more effective way to battle while having a serene state of mind. He befriends many characters throughout the coarse of G-Gundam and helps them all in one way or another, and is taught quite a few lessons himself along the way. In the end though he realizes that the most important thing to him is rain (his crew mate and childhood friend), and that nothing else matters as long as the two of them can be happy, and because of that no force can stop them.
2. Edward & Alphonse Elric
(Fullmetal Alchemist)

Ok i cheated a bit on this one but i cant honestly put one of these characters over the other, and there is never one instance i can even think of where i can picture these characters being apart from one another. These are two of the most humanized characters in any series IMO, they convey there emotions and feelings better than any other and come across as really well thought out and likable characters. Having suffered through many trials and experiences these characters try there best to overcome many obstacles in there path to getting the philosopher stone. Many of the people they meet tend to further prove to them how messed up the world can be and they are usually alone in how the view it. The camaraderie between these characters is also great, they bicker, they have fun, and they also look out for each other and are just plain decent human beings in a war torn world. And watching their alchemic creations is usually a pretty cool sight to see, especially eds since they always look a bit strange.
1. Gohan
(Dragonball Z)

You should have seen it coming a mile away, and well if you didn't shame on you
. Anyway there are many reasons i find gohan to be an endearing and likable character. As opposed to goku or vegeta gohan is rather smart and focused, one example would be how goku and vegeta have been known to let their saiyan nature take over which leads them to being over arrogant (in vegetas case) and finding enjoyment in a long drawn out fight (in goku's case). Where gohan differs from these two is that hes usually direct and to the point when he fights, no messing around, no testing his abilities for the fun of it in dangerous situations like the others which usually ends badly (except for that one instance with cell). And all in all he just seems to be the most level headed of the DBZ characters, he fights because its necessary and does so in order to save the planet. He has some goofy moments too, such as his whole great saiyaman persona which he dawned later in the series, and its kinda cool when you can see a characters entire life from child to adult unfold over time. So when push comes to shove hes a very powerful character and probably the strongest on my list (hes actually the most powerful character at the end of DBZ, we dont count DBGT around here
). Anyway you get the point. So there you have it my top favorite Anime/Manga characters of all time, id write more but Gamespot has a word limit and i have exceeded it

thanks for reading guys.

18Feb 10
It has been a while since my last blog and its time for an update. Oh and if you haven't noticed I have been changing my avatar quite a bit lately since i just couldn't find one i was happy with, so i think I've settled on good old king hippo for now, but who knows i may change it once again pretty soon, sorry if i confused anyone since most people identify others more with an icon than a name on here sometimes.
Well recently I had found the original No more heroes at a gamestop in the mall, i had never played it but i had heard good things and im also very interested in the sequel so i figured why not since it was pretty cheap.

Well having finished the game i can say that i thouroughly enjoyed it, and im now a big fan of the series. From its crazy design and gameplay, to all the off the wall stuff that goes on during the game its just so different that i find it a nice change of pace. Many games now a days tend to take things too seriously so its good to see a game poke fun at itself and its audience while embracing the whole otaku mentality at the same time.

The only faults i can give this game is that some of the areas are a little bland and everything up until the boss fights is somewhat repetive. But overall i think the design (gamespot wont let me write the word stile unless i spell it wrong) and way this game is presented really makes up for any small short comings it has, I found travis touchdown to be an awesome over the top character that does what pretty much everyone is thinking at that moment. I only wish i had experienced this series sooner, but now that i have im glad i finally checked it out. Now all i have to do is make some money so i can get the second game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Besides No more heroes I also picked up Tatsunoko vs capcom while i was coming home from school one day last week.

So far the game is great, tons of colorful characters and varying move sets that give it plenty of longevity. Ryu is my favorite capcom character so its no surprise hes been my main character while playing the game, but ive been trying out all the characters since i havent really figured out who my secondary/partner character would be.

A few of the Tatsunoko characters seem to fit the way i play such as: Karas, Casshan, and Yatterman but i just cant figure out which one i may use. I still have a few characters to unlock so that could always offer a few more choices, i knew a few of characters before this game but there a number of them I'm not familiar with. Anyway the game is pretty fun, there aren't a whole lot of modes but for a fighting game its to be expected, and I'm not much of an online player but i may give it a shot at some point soon.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other than those 2 games i havent played a whole lot this month, the only other things would be the heavy rain demo and flow since i got it for free.
One thing im really looking forward to this coming month is God of War 3, Im eager to see how kratos's story ends. I figure the game will pretty much be more of the same but i have no problem with that what so ever since i enjoyed the previous games so much, Which reminds me that i have to go and put down my preorder money for this game *runs out of the house*.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In anime stuff ive been watching a few things here and there
Through netflix ive been watching some Ghost in the shell SAC since there are quite a few episodes i missed when it was airing on tv. Its a good series and very thought provoking, ive been a fan of the series for some time and the show has always had fantastic music like its opening composed by Yokko Kanno.

One other one ive been checking out is Gundam seed Destiny on demand, while seed has always been one of my least favorite series i thought id give seed destiny a chance. And im pleasently surprised that its not that bad, its actually pretty good, it has a few problems and some uninteresting characters but for the most part its enjoyable and the battles are great. Although they sometimes reuse a lot of stock animation, and more than anything i hate Kira Yamato with a passion, hes the main character from the first gundam seed show, and never have i wanted an anime character to meet his demise as much as this character
.
Another gundam series ive been watching is Gundam 8th MS team which is a fantastic series that came out quite a while ago. Its prety short but its a worthwhile series and it has many exciting moments.

Fullmetal Alchemist brotherhood has also just started airing in the states so im really happy since im a huge fan of the series. Id held off on watching it since i was used to the dub version and when i tried to keep up with the subbed japanese version funimation had technical problems so i could never manage to watch it on their website. For the first episode though i think this series is gonna be really good, i dont know if it can ever top the first one but its looking very promising.

And that about does it, not a whole lot going on lately but enough to keep me busy i guess
Anyway as always thanks for reading guys

I meant to put this up a while ago but got sort of sidetracked as of lately. But I wanted to do a year end review of all the great games I've had the pleasure of playing and the ones I've bought this year. Instead of ranking them I'm just gonna list them with what made them stand out or not stand out for me personally, there were quite a bit i didn't get to play so ill only be listing the ones i checked out, there also may be some i cant remember at the moment so i may update this later. Oh and i also got a new TV this week, its a 32" Samsung and its gonna be pretty sweet to play games in my room now since i used to only play them on our bigger HD tv, but this tv has better resolution.
But before that i here's this blogs video game theme, which is a re-orchestration of the original song but it sounds really great, so give it a listen while your reading.
Zelda Gerudo Valley Re- Orchestrated
Anyway so without further ado here we go
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Year End Review 2009 Games
Resident Evil 5
A return to the last games play type RE5 looked good and played well, and it finally answered some of the long standing questions the series has left us pondering for quite some time. While it wasn't the greatest game of the year and it didn't really live up to what RE4 had achieved, it was still decent game and fun to play through, albeit somewhat of a letdown. Although i do think its time for capcom to change the RE formula once again since its starting to grow a bit stale in the current state that its in, and lets be honest it cant even be called survival horror anymore since action takes priority. Here's hoping the next game is a return to form for the series.

Street Fighter 4
The fighting genre has returned and I'm glad SF is at the forefront once again. It went back to basics and brought back all the characters we know and love, and i couldn't be happier with this game. With easy pick up and play accessibility and also enough depth for the seasoned veterans it struck a perfect balance in my opinion. This could possibly be my game of the year but i chose to not choose any one game because there are quite a few that i liked equally. All in all I'm so happy this game turned out great, and I'm even more excited to get my hands on SSF4 when its released.

Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2
My gaming guilty pleasure has to be the dynasty warriors gundam series. Its got its share of problems among other things but its characters story and mechs just keep me very entertained. I played this game for hours and id gladly do it again if a third game was released. America gets little to no other gundam games so this is what holds me over for the time being.

Dissidia Final Fantasy
For the longest time i had waited for this game and when it was finally released i had almost given up on the whole thing. The game was great and had very polished gameplay, but it was just lacking something to keep my interest. Playing as Cloud and Sephiroth in a new fighting game seemed like a dream come true but whether it was the grinding or something in the story mode i just didn't enjoy this game as much as i would have liked to. Good game but just an ok experience for me.

Punch Out!!
After spending countless hours speculating about this game on message boards as well as holding onto any scrap of news i could find, punch out wii had finally arrived, and delivered better than i could have hoped. While not much is different gameplay-wise, it still holds up very well and still a blast to play. Little mac had returned and so had his bullies in a colorful new game with loads of personality and some of the best and most fluid cartoon animations id seen in a long time. This series is one of my favorite in all of gaming so its return meant something to me.

Ghostbusters The Video Game
This game is the ghostbusters game i have wanted to see since i was a little kid. With the original actors voicing all their respective roles it created the perfect atmosphere and humor that the series has been known for. I had feared for the longest time that this game might end up being another movie game gone bad (dogs and cats living together mass hysteria!), but since it has its own story and isnt hinged to a movie tie in at the same time it turned out fantastic.

Batman Arkham Asylum
As a character that worked well in just about every other medium batmans run with gaming had never really well... been very good aside from the excellent NES game, but this year finally saw the return of the Dark Knight. Everything in this game seemed to work well together and it excelled in creating a dark atmosphere that set the prefect tone for the Asylum. With the animated series actors reprising their roles this game was a sure fire win as far as I'm concerned, from gameplay to story it delivered in all aspects.

Muramasa the Demon Blade
2D has returned and muramasa is the prime example of how it should never leave. I made it my personal mission to get every sword in this game as well as experience all the glorious boss fights that laid out before me. 3D games are all well and good but there is just a charm about 2D games that i will always love and muramasa is no exception. Im glad this gem made it to the states and im really eager to see what vanillaware has in store for us next time.

The Beatles Rock Band
Im not into the whole music game genre, but for the beatles i at least had to get my feet wet. Im glad i did to because i had a lot of fun with it and many of the songs bring back good memories from my childhood. It also had very good production values and you could tell there was plenty of love put into this game. I do wish it had more songs, but the ones you get are some of the best.

Dragonball Z Raging Blast
As a huge fan of this series I've been very patient with its games, but now I'm just sick of the their lack of features and polish. It seems like every year a new game is released but its always missing something or when they finally get the game almost near a good balance they scrap it and star over again with a new engine and only a handful of characters. Such a disappointment though since in the right hands the series is just itching for a great game.

Resident Evil The Darkside Chronicles
I dont normally play a lot of light gun games but Darkside Chronicles was pretty fun. The shaky cam takes a bit of getting used to but its not too bad. Reliving through some of the best moments in RE again was great, they were changed a bit but that's understandable considering the type of gameplay. These types of games get alot of hate on the wii but sometimes you just gotta sit back and enjoy some games for what they are, and darkside chronicles is one of those. And I also must say it looks pretty good on the wii.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
I got this game for Christmas and all i can say is its one of the years best games IMO. Its my second favorite PS3 game right behind MGS4, and this game was running on all cylinders. The first game was great but U2 just blew it out of the water, with its terrific story, great set pieces, excellent pacing and superb voice acting i don't think anybody can deny that this is one of the years best, and i could go on and on about it but you get the idea.

New Super Mairo Bros Wii
Ah yes a return to the good old days of mario platforming is what I've been wanting for years. NSMBwii brought back all the great elements from Mario 3 as well as Mario world and mashed them in to one solid experience that is terrific, and the return of the koopalings is just the icing on the cake. Playing with 4 people is loads of fun and also a bit frustrating, but all in all mario has once again proved why he is still king.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
A very pleasant surprise form nintendo at the very end of the year is always welcome IMO and Spirit tracks is just that. I was very nervous that this game was gonna be just like PH (which I'm not particularly fond of), but i was happy to see that it had addressed all the problems i had with the last game and it turned out great. While not too much different aesthetically the game does do a great job of using the touch screen controls and it has that old zelda charm i love, the music is great and the main theme will be stuck in my head for a very long time.

Castlevania The Adventure Rebirth
One of the few games i downloaded this year Castlevania Rebirth was great and still had that simple yet great feeling of the original games. Ive always loved the series for its dark and medevil type settings and they will always be at there best when in 2D, its not too difficult of a game at first but it amps up around stage 4.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Biggest Disappointments
TMNT Turtles in Time Re-shelled
Bionic Commando
And that pretty much concludes my year end review, there are a few games i haven't managed to start and finish yet such as Bowsers inside Story and Brutal Legend but I'm working on those. I also played Quite a bit of older games this year too but i didn't list those since they don't really pertain to anything in 2009. All in all this year was a pretty good year in gaming, but i think 2010 will be even better and one of the best years in a long time.
Thanks again for reading guys, have a good week

Well today I'm leaving for San Diego to visit my friend who if you recall i never got a chance to visit in the summer. This will be the first time I've ever beenon an air plane in my whole life (yea pretty weird considering how old i am
), but regardless I'm pretty excited. We probably wont do much at his house other than hang out and play Resident evil zero or something, but i like when things are pretty chill so thats fine with me.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gaming Update
As far as my gaming goes right now im working on the legend of zelda spirit tracks. So far the game is pretty good, and im about half way finished with it i think. First off the game is way better than PH (I didnt care for PH at all) and it fixes nearly all the problems that game had. The menus are better the music is better and it just has an overall polish that id expect from a zelda game.

Although I'm still not a fan of the art direction since its getting a little old now, but regardless of that the world in the game looks great and the game takes full advantage of the DS's capabilities. I don't know why but the train is so much more fun to travel around in than the boat, and i cant help myself from pulling the cord to sound the trains horn, it just gives you a satisfying feeling
. But as of now the game is great and its exceeded my expectations quite a bit, i don't really like the all touch screen controls but there done well enough to where i cant even argue with the results since they work great, all in all I'm very happy with the game and once I'm finished i may do a review for it but i haven't decided yet.I had to post this picture i found since i thought it was pretty hilarious

(If you cant see what Ed is holding it says Lawsuit)
Other than sprit tracks i havent been playing a whole lot since i just finished my finals last week, but i just got Mario & Luigi Bowsers Inside Story from a friend of mine for christmas so ill be working on that as soon as i get back from San Diego. And before the years over im going to make a blog about my favorite games of the year so stay tuned for that.

And heres this times Video Game theme Enjoy
Metal Gear Solid 4: "Metal Gear Saga"

Its been a while since I've done a blog so its about time i bring you guys up to date with what ive been doing.
A few weeks ago i decided to buy the original RE2 on PSN since i haven't played it since its release in 1998, and i didn't really have anything else to play at the moment. The game holds up pretty well and is still really suspenseful, there were a few times where i was surprised by enemies such as the Lickers and when all the zombie arms just randomly popped through the windows. Ive beaten it twice with Leon and Claire although i might do it again at some point since i did the story in non canon order so to see how the story is meant to be played out ill have to beat it with Claire A and Leon B. After playing RE2 I'm eager to check out darkside chronicles since its probably the closest thing to an update of RE2 we will probably ever see.

And other than that I've beaten Uncharted drakes fortune and New Super Mario Bros Wii. Uncharted was great and i only wish id played it earlier, i thought about getting my first platinum trophy during my playthrough but i didnt have enough time and id rather enjoy the experience rather than worry about trophies. I'm hoping to get U2 among thieves for christmas so here's hoping
.
As far as New Super Mario Bros Wii goes i had a blast with it. But I'm sure i don't have to tell you guys how good it is since most of you probably have it by now. It takes mario back to how i remember the series when i was a kid and the return of the koopalings makes it that much better. With elements from all the past games it creates a slick and much needed current gen platformer that rivals a few from the past. I couldn't be happier with how this game turned out and with a few friends the game gets pretty hectic but man is it fun. Oh and the guys from the penny arcade (i actually have a friend who knows one of the authors) comic strip made an accurate description of just how multiplayer feels sometimes , check it out on their website
(id post it but it has some crude language so it might be against terms of use).
And last but not least as you guys will remember I've been taking a 3D modeling this semester and I'm nearing the last few days of that course. I learned quite a bit and it was pretty challenging, I'm not very good yet but i think I've made some progress since my last blog.
Here's a project i had to do during Halloween

And here's my final project and we were given the freedom to make what ever we wanted. I of course figured i could make a gundam.
Here's how it looked when i started

And here's where I'm at right now, the head took forever but I'm finally moving on to the body and hopefully ill have it somewhat done by Thursday.

Oh and before i go, since most people seem to do it ill be putting a song i like from a random game so here goes
This times theme is : Soul Calibur 2 - Destiny Awaits No One
And as always thanks again for reading guys

So ive finally made it to level 27, Sheng Long and it appears i have the right avatar at the moment as well
.

Before i start id like to say I'm sorry i haven't gotten around to every ones blogs as of late, I've been busy with school but other than that i just haven't been in the mood to do anything as of late so again sorry to those who's blogs i have missed out on. Anyway on to the countdown, (ill try to keep this blog short so as not to blabber on like im prone to)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Instead of writing why i like each song individually im gonna sum up what it think of the series music as a whole then i will list what songs are my favorite. I figured since its near Halloween i should do something for the occasion, and it doesn't really feel like Halloween and October for me until there's a little castlevania present.
As many of you know the Castlevania series is one that has incredible music, among other great things. These themes all represent to me what the series is all about and they have a dark medevil gothic feeling just like the artwork from the games. Some are very calming while others are uplifting or mysterious, which in turn sets the incredible atmosphere that i love about the series. Each theme will have multiple versions for you to listen to, so without further ado here are my top 10 favorite Castlevania themes.

Top 10 Castlevania Themes

10.Lost Painting (Castlevania Symphony of the Night)

So thats all for the list and i hope you guys liked it.
In other gaming related stuff I finished Zelda Phantom Hourglass and Phoenix Wright pretty quickly since those are two titles ive been meaning to finish for some time. They were both pretty good, PH was alright not great but also not as bad as i had once pegged it to be.

Never thought id be doing another blog so soon since i like to space them out a bit but here goes, and no i wont be talking about my school like everyone else cuz i don't want to talk about it, or hear about it.
( take the hint
jk)So yesterday as i was checking out the tokyo game show coverage i happened on to a post that said Ign was handing out the MGS peace walker demo for free. So i downloaded it as fast as possible onto my psp. First off the game has fantastic production values and the cutscenes are just awesome, mixing in game cutscenes and stylish comic book like ones in the same vain as the ones from portable ops (although they got the main artist to them this time).

The demo first starts you off in a training tutorial but i couldnt really use it since its all in japanese so i used a faq sheet made to show the mapping of the buttons. The controls are smooth and fluid but they take some getting use to since they are rather awkward in a way. In the demo you get to do a few challenge maps from the game which are layed out pretty well and gave me a run for my money since i was still new to the control scheme. The over the shoulder aiming returns from MGS4 and for the most part it works pretty well but i still have to get used to the face buttons controlling the camera. Overall the demo is excellent and i am thrilled that i got a chance to play it, the only thing im wondering about is why in this game cant snake crawl? Miner gripe aside anyone who has a psp and is a metal gear fan should check out this demo

You can download it in the link below for free, there are directions on how to do so and a faq page for control help

Thanks again for reading guys

First off id like to thank everybody who checked out my birthday top ten game blog, thanks for all the great comments guys.
Anyway I thought Id just give an update on a few things gaming wise etc.
Gaming Update
The games ive been playing recently are:
Dissidia Final Fantasy

A great game for the PSP, I need to put quite a bit more time into it but there are plenty of fun battles to be had with this game. I recently had a battle in this game with my cousin and he whipped me for the most part since he has a level 100 squall and my highest character (cloud) was only level 28 at the time. Although i managed to get my revenge when i beat him with sephiroth

Batman Arkham Asylum

Man this game came out of nowhere and knocked it out of the park like no other batman game before it. I am still in shock eidos managed to pull it off in such a fantastic way. It has that batman animated feel which i love but with its art ****and design it has its own atmosphere and feel that differentiate it just enough. Ive beaten it almost 100% but im still working on the challenge mode, and before im done i just gotta say killer croc looked awesome.
Muramasa the Demon Blade

I have been waiting for this game for what feels like forever and im glad the time has finally come. The design and artwork of this game is incredible, and it gets me wondering what if nintendo or another company hired this dev team to make one of their big franchises? *hopes for vanillaware kid icarus*
Anyway the game is a load of fun, it gets a bit repetitive at times but the blade crafting and the metroid like overworld keep things interesting as far as im concerned. Ive beaten Kisuke's story and I'm part way through momohime's right now, and the story for each character is pretty deep and the japanese lore is very interesting and awesome. The Beatles RockBand

So this is my first music/rhythm game, not the first i have played just the first i have ever owned. Overall id say its pretty good, Ive always been a fan of their music and this game definitely does them justice. My parents seem to love just watching me play it since they are huge beatles fans so its cool that they can actually get into it. I still need alot of practice since im not very good but im doing a bit better. My only beef with the game is that there is only 45 songs, it may sound like a bit but the set of songs i have now is already losing its luster a bit, guess ill have to wait till they milk me for the DLC

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gaming Industry Rant
.jpg)
Activision Your head is far too big
Ok i usually don't rant about stuff too much other than one of my blogs about the dragonball movie and the fact i dislike how many people overuse or misuse the word overrated. But i just gotta say activision is throwing their weight around way too much lately, especially their CEO Bobby Kotick. The fact that almost every game that would have come out this year has cowered in fear of COD modern warfare 2 which in turn has caused them all to move to 2010 just bugs me to no end. These guys are way worse than EA ever was, first off the quality of a lot of their games has seriously gone down and most have now become annual rehashes and follow ups to franchises they can milk. And whats worse is all the badmouthing they have been doing to other companies and developers, like the whole suing EA and double fine for brutal legend, and all their cheap shots at rockband and possibly the worst two are when they claimed they wouldn't support the PS3 anymore and when the CEO said that if he could raise gaming prices even higher that hed do it in a heartbeat if they let him. I have liked some of their games in the past but they have become a creature that is almost unrecognizable and I'm just sick of them treating the industry and their customers like crap. Oh and i don't blame blizzard for this in anyway, they are just unfortunately combined with activision now.
-End Rant
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Collection and other stuff
The Gundam 00 anime is coming to an end on the syfy channel so ill have to find a new anime to get into again
But anyway I got another gundam 00 model recently and i finally finished it, and it turned out i think better than the first one.
This one may look the same since its the same gundam but its a bit larger since its the 1/100 scale and it has much more detail and it has one other aspect that makes it pretty cool.

That's right the GN Drives (solar engines) in the shoulders glow since they have LED lights, a bit of a gimmick but awesome looking non the less IMO.

Yea id say I have enough gundam models to tide me over for a bit now. Here's the two gundam 00 models and my recently acquired wing zero custom model. Oh and for those who haven't experienced gundam wing maybe you should take a look Gundam Wing AMV
Oh and before i forget i decided to update my sig, tell me what you guys think of it

Well anyway that's all, thanks for reading guys and i hope i didn't ramble on too much for you. Have a great weekend everyone

30Aug 09
Ah another year older, well guys today its my 24th birthday and i decided to commemorate my birthday by listing my favorite games ever (and everyone seems to be doing a list of theirs as well lately anyway
). Ive been gaming for quite some time and there have been many games that have come and gone but i feel these ones stood out more for me.Although its been a while since I've played some of these so forgive me for forgetting some details about them, but i still remember the affect they had on me when i played them. A few will also have my favorite piece of music from each game so give those a listen too when you get a chance. Thanks for reading guysTop Ten Favorite Games Ever
----------------------------------------------------------------------
10. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

Platform: Gameboy Advance
Publisher: Nintendo
Release Date: January 10, 2005
This is a zelda game that is very under appreciated in my opinion, but i found it to be one of the best. It has awesome 2D visuals that create a fantastic world for link to explore, and he can explore it in more ways than one. The world of the minish people was crafted very well and the story behind the game was just as awesome. This game does everything that A link to the past did right but even better from its music to its exploration etc. Exploring a smaller unseen world was very cool, and the kinstone system was implemented well which added plenty of side-quests to keep you busy. Although the game is very short it is great the entire time and anyone who owns a GBA and is a zelda fan should check this game out, its definitely a great entry into the series.

------------------------------------------------------------
9. Oddworld: Strangers Wrath

Platform: Xbox
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Release Date: January 25, 2005
A strange game as the name implies, although its different for all the right reasons. As a bounty hunter aptly named "stranger" you set out to claim bounties on scum across the land, all the while saving up for a mysterious surgery. The world in this game is truly unique and it completely sucked me in the more i played it, its very dark and organic but the characters within it have a good sense of humor. Using live creatures as ammo added quite a twist on the word live ammo but they all worked well and cohesively created a combat system that mixed first person shooting with third person melee and a bit of stealth in certain areas. The developers of this game (oddworld inhabitants) always deliver top notch stories that usually have clever undertones that imply the dangers of pollution and other problems that we face in the real world. Yet again this is a severely overlooked game that caught my attention and became one of my favorite games ever.

Favorite Theme: Fighting Outlaws
---------------------------------------------------------
8. Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon

Platform: Nintendo 64
Publisher: Konami
Release Date: April 16, 1998
Although this choice may seem odd to some I happen to like this under appreciated game quite a bit. This is a fantastic game about ninjas in a comical cartoon version of japan. Taking a note from zelda and mario games Mystical Ninja takes the best parts of both by having plenty of platforming and also dungeon exploration along with the ability to acquire new weapons and abilities. You can play as four different ninjas (Goemon, Sasuke, Ebisumaru, and Yae) on their journey to save the land from the evil group known as the peach mountain shoguns who apparently want to turn the world into their own personal concert stage. Throughout the game you can traverse a massive overworld where you can uncover many secrets and meet many characters that will aid or inhibit your progress (especially one guy who tries to rob you every time you walk by him). At first i had overlooked this game but when my cousins convinced me to rent it i was hooked and i loved every comedic moment in the game, it even has a laugh track in the background
One of the games best aspects though is its music which sounds authentically Japanese but very upbeat and memorable for every area which adds to the atmosphere.

Favorite Theme : Gourmet Submarine Castle Medley
-------------------------------------------------------------
7. Shadow of the Colossus

Platform: Playstation 2
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Release Date: October 18, 2005
A game that many people love is one i also happen to enjoy quite a bit. A testament to the ps2's fantastic library SOTC is one its best and rightfully so. Taking down massive creatures feels so realistic and poetic at the same time since its done so well. While there isn't much story it isn't really a problem because the world and the creatures are just so fantastic. With booming music and enormous odds you must take down 16 colossi as a young man with nothing but his horse and his sword (arrows too). Despite being a rather short game it makes every moment memorable and one you'll never forget.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
6. Super Mario 64

Platform: Nintendo 64
Publisher: Nintendo
Release Date: September 26, 1996
Mario's Jump to 3D is one that has had an impact that will never disappear. Other than the fact that every 3D platformer owes everything to mario 64, nintendo blew my mind with this game. It improved upon everything while maintaining what made mario games good to begin with. Getting every star in this game became an obsession and each new stage offered a variety of challenges that i couldn't wait to meet and exceed. Although the camera was wonky at times the controls were as tight and precise as ever. Fighting bowser was one of the highlights of this game for me, i mean how can you not have a smile on your face when swinging bowser around by his tail for the first time in all of Mario 64's 3D goodness (that's right you cant
).

-------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Subsistence

Platform: Playstation 2
Publisher: Konami
Release Date: March 14, 2006
My favorite PS2 game ever MGS3 is a game that made me realize that game characters can still be very complex and creative even after all these years. As Naked Snake you are sent to the Russian jungle for your next mission "virtuous mission", and what unfolds is a fantastic story the likes of which you have never seen. Before this game I was never much of a fan of stealth games but this game changed my views completely, it was just so much fun trying to figure out the best way to attack a situation instead of running in there guns a blazing like most other games. The game has some of the best boss fights I've ever experienced and they are each interesting and important parts of the story. Snakes relationship with the boss and the other characters really made me sympathize with the character more so than any other character ever. The writing is great and it weaves a complex story of espionage and international warfare while adding some fantasy within it to keep things interesting. And I don't want to ruin anything for anyone who hasn't played the game but the ending of this game was one of the most meaningful endings in any game i have ever played, and its something ill never forget.

4. Final Fantasy VII

Platform: Playstation
Publisher: Square
Release Date: September 7, 1997
As you all know FF7 is a landmark entry for the series and signified its first entry into 3D, and it also made RPG's mainstream. I can still remember the day i bought it too, i had reserved it at sears and i was so excited to pick it up. I knew the game would be good but little did i know how much I would like it. With fully CG cutscenes this game had a presence like no other and as a kid this blew my mind. Its characters were interesting and very different from anything i had seen before and their world seemed limitless in its potential. This was the very first time i actually cared about the characters in a game, and i couldn't wait to see what lied ahead of them on their journey. Sephiroth the main villain struck a very serous cord that no villain in my experience had before, his actions elevated him to a more than just a normal villain which made him something different rather than just a bad guy and more interesting as well (hence my screen name). Although the game has not aged very well i still love every bit of it from its music to all of its memorable moments. And with the many spin offs Square enix has pretty much saturated the market with its FF7 offerings which has also gained the game many haters. But I will always enjoy the game and it remains to this day my favorite RPG ever, haters begone

3. Super Mario Bros. 3

Platform: Nintendo Entertainment System
Publisher: Nintendo
Release Date: February 12, 1990
Possibly the greatest Platforming game I've ever played mario 3 has always been one of my fondest gaming memories. The jump from 2 to 3 was enormous and the amount of memorabilia and stuff you would see in magazines was incredible for the time, its just one of those things where you just had to be there to experience it. First off the introduction of so many power ups/ suits was awesome, i especially liked the frog suit even though its rather hard to deal with outside of water. The overworld and multiple paths was something i had never seen before and it made each play through very unique. To this day i still play this game and enjoy the quirky worlds and suits, and i always will.

2. Super Mario Bros.

Platform: Nintendo Entertainment System
Publisher: Nintendo
Release Date: October 18, 1985
I had a very difficult time deciding what mario game I liked more, Mario 3 or Mario 1? But in the end I felt I had to put Super Mario Bros. above all other mario games. As with most people this was my first gaming experience, no other game will ever match what this game means to me except maybe number 1
. I beat this game when i was 3 years old and i used to play it till i got blisters on my fingers (no lie), it has had a profound effect on me, and it has changed my life forever. It introduced me to the world of gaming and as a child it took my imagination to places i couldn't even dream of. With tight controls and excellent platforming this game is in my opinion the cornerstone of all gaming and it shaped platforming games for years to come.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Platform: Nintendo 64
Publisher: Nintendo
Release Date: November 23, 1998
As if you all didn't see this coming a mile away
What can I say about this game that hasn't already been said before, i mean its awesome in every way imaginable. From the scope of the quests to the people/friends and weapons you will gain on the journey. This game came out at a very good time in my life and the memories of playing it and enjoying every minute of it will be with me forever. I even got a tattoo to commemorate this game and the time in my life when it was released. The music is my favorite soundtrack ever, every song is memorable and perfect for setting the tone and ambiance of the area. The Ocarina was implemented great with link learning new themes from characters hes met and the way it was used as a key element of the game, and traveling between time was when the game went from awesome to legendary for me. Nintendo has always made quality games but this game for me is truly gaming nirvana, i don't think any game will ever dethrone it as my favorite. I could go on about the game for days but I think you get the point.

Well recently I have been pretty obsessed with the new gundam series "mobile suit gundam 00" and I decided that I wanted a figure of one of the new gundams. Easier said than done because most of the already made figures are $40 and up, so as I was looking around I noticed there were a lot of models available for the series and since it said they were snap together instead of the kind you would have to glue together I figured what the hell ill give it a shot. So I ordered a relatively inexpensive set of models, one is Gundam 00 and the other is the Raiser attachment that turns from a ship to a sort of upgrade attachment for the 00 gundam. Below is a picture of the gundam's box (i couldn't find a pic for the other model) and the scale/size these models is 1/144

Once I got the models and the gundam pens, (which are like paint pens but for gundam models) I set out to work on my models. It took me a few days before I was actually ready to do them because I wanted a full day to finish them but I was always busy with one thing or another and my fear of messing them up while building them was also bugging me in the back of my mind.

So when the day came and I actually built them, it was pretty fun. I spent all day on it too which I never thought i would, and because of that my eyes hurt from looking at little parts all day and everything was out of focus. I didn't have to paint too many parts since some of the bigger ones were already painted but all the details and small color touch ups weren't too hard to do.
One part that gave me a bit of trouble was the V shape above the gundams forehead, I had to cut off little nubs from the tips of them since they had a bit of plastic overhang on them that made them look blocky instead of sharp how their supposed to look, but amazingly I managed to cut them just right.
But after all that I was surprised how decent both models actually turned out, so I thought you guys might wanna check out the finished product of my first attempt at building and painting a gundam model, let me know what you think (you can be honest, well not too honest
). sorry for some of the bad quality pics, my camera sucksFront close up

Not too shabby for a first attempt, but being as picky as i am i still see flaws I could have fixed but oh well id probably mess it up if i tinkered around with them too much.

Oh and before I forget again here are a few pictures of my collection that I never got a chance to put up.
Just some FF figures, zelda pins, and a kunai

some naruto mini figures and Guyver figures

And last but not least my big godzilla figures, to give you a sense of scale the biggest one in the picture is half my height

and as always thanks for reading everyone.

So recently I picked up a game I hadn't played in a long time, the game I'm talking about is Ninja Gaiden 2. I had rented it when it first came out so I played a little bit of it, but i decided to wait for a price drop since i didn't have the money to buy it at the time. Well the time had finally come to pick it up, since its now under $20 i couldn't resist and i still felt ashamed that I hadn't beaten it the first time around. So now that I have finally beaten the game I feel that i can say a few things about it, this isn't a review though because I would have been more in depth with it if it was.

First off as you all know the ninja gaiden games are about fast and furious action, with a devious difficulty level. With that said the game was pretty fun and really cool to watch ryu in action. There isn't much of a plot but there is just enough to keep you motivated through the game, and the combat is so satisfying that a lack of story isn't too much of a problem.

Now as I've already said the difficulty in this game is brutal just like the first ninja gaiden which to this day i still don't have the patients to finish. It fluctuates in very strange parts as well, one minute you'll be tearing guys apart and then the next ryu looks like a pinball bouncing all over the place from the beating. Some people might get discouraged or turned away from the game by this, but i was compelled to finish the game, every time i died i got more eager to not make the same mistakes again.

With a variety of weapons at your disposal ryu can dismember and disfigure his enemies in ways i cant even describe. Its a shame though that Sigma 2 will lack the same amount of violence this version has, i mean it wont be a total loss but the visceral feel and look of the damage ryu causes is something the game definitely does very well.

Overall Id say the game was pretty good, it has a crazy difficulty curve and a number of other problems such as the horrendous camera which at certain points feels like a bored camera man who has found something more interesting to look at in the distance. But those flaws aside i had a good time with this game, the sheer fun factor this game has is great. Id say it does what all games back in the day did well, which means gameplay takes priority over everything else and since ninja gaiden 2 is a series from that era I'm glad they have stayed true to it. I wouldn't recommend it for everyone but IMO it is by far the best ninja game ever. Lol well maybe not as a ninja game that focuses on stealth but you know what i mean.

Thanks for reading guys and i hope everyone has a good week

Well guys i was about to go on a trip to San Diego to visit an old friend of mine but that didn't work out too well. At first we were set to go for 5 days, but the day before we were gonna leave i got pretty sick (my luck like always) and i didnt end up going while the rest of my friends did. Im dissapointed that i will miss out on the fun, but i guess its not all bad since i will save some money now and im not too fond of traveling.

ah what could have been

Anyway besides that I finally got my 3rd Bleach Box set in the mail and its sweet. Ive seen all of these episodes but its good to finally see them in great quality and in english as well. I managed to get this set really cheap from amazon since they had a deal that made it cheaper and i had a $20 off coupon which made these dvd's a steal. It also came with a pretty cool piece of merchandise which you can see below. Its a chunk of Ichigo's Hollow mask that came with a small stand to display it on. I also got fire emblem shadow dragon for $14 in the same pakage, i couldn't resist it at that price.

My only regret about the vacation is that i might have had a chance to go to comicon, but it seems i will miss out once again. I haven't been to comicon for a few years so its no biggie since i kind of got tired of the over crowding and massive lines. Well at least now i can catch more of the second season of my latest obssesion on tv this monday , which is Gundam 00.

thanks for reading guys

Yes I've finally finished chrono trigger for the DS, its one of the many games i have been meaning to get back to. The game as a whole was great and it has held up very well after all these years. Since I bypassed it during the SNES years Ive always wanted to go back and give it a shot but with the SNES cart being so expensive it didn't seem like an option till the DS version came out (although i do own the Playstation version). I only wish i had picked it up during that time since its an awesome game with a great story, terrific characters and If I had played it back when it was released I could see this being up there with some of my favorite games ever. It still puzzles me how i missed it in the first place, I have been gaming since the 80's and i have pretty much played most of the best games that have ever been released. I know when this game was out i saw it at the video store plenty of times but i still passed it up, and Ive heard so much about it from friends. So how this game has eluded me for this long is kinda strange but I'm glad i didn't forget about it altogether.

Even though its just a direct port with a few things added its still good enough for me, although since its my first time with the game i could see where the fans who were there since the beginning would want more because they have probably played and beaten the game a number of times. The cutscenes were also great and i only wish there were more of them since i love Akira Toriyama's artwork (and im a huge DBZ fan as you all know). All in all the game was a great experience, im glad i finally finished it and got to see what all the people who love the series have been talking about for so many years.

Thanks for reading guys, and now im off to finish Valkyria Chronicles!!
