Its that time again, at that point where the horizon is still bright and many games are just waiting in the wings. Today im going to share with you guys my most anticipated games of this upcoming year. Some don't have release dates or might not even come out this year but all are with in reason to see a release this year. I couldn't make one of these last year since after the holiday season the forecast for the coming year was really barren, but im glad to say that this year is different. Anyway lets get going.

Asura's Wrath

Here's one title I had much anticipation for, at first. Now I say this after playing the demo for it which to be honest lacked a bit, it mostly consisted of on rails stages with QTE's everywhere. So originally I thought it was gonna be an action adventure somewhat like god of war and a few others but it appears to be its own beast. But even after that im still optimistic about the game since it does have a great aesthetic/design that im very curious about, and with Cyberconnect 2 behind it im sure they will make sure its exceptional. I mean just look at it, its like DBZ was slammed into clash of the titans, that is right up my alley and i cant wait to tear up the universe as asura.
----------------------
Kid Icarus Uprising

Good old pit, its been a while but he's back and ready for action after all these years. This is probably the first game this year i will reserve, its a title ive been keeping an eye on for a while too. I had a chance to play it at wondercon a year or so back, but i didn't get a chance too (opted to play OOT 3D instead which im kicking myself for now). With known game dev samurai (of smash bros and kirby fame) this should be quite the adventure. From what vie already read the amount of weapon customization is staggering to say the least, and thats sure to bring plenty or replay value to the game as well. One other aspect i enjoyed was the cheesy voice over and dialogue, it brought back a star fox 64 vibe and i think it will add some much needed levity and charm all its own. Which is a good change of pace for nintendo with all its silent protagonists.
----------------------------
Resident Evil 6

To think that capcom would manage to excite me with more than one title this year after all they have managed to screw up in the past year really says something about their franchises. RE5 left many fans with a sour taste in their mouth, but even so i still enjoyed the game for what it was. Now this one looks to be more of what RE5 probably should have been, a mixture of action while still keeping what made RE4 so great. Ive pretty much given up on Resident evil returning to its original gameplay and design, but that wont stop me from enjoying the action survival series its become. From what the trailer had to offer its got some good potential, and fan favorite Leon makes a return so it will be interesting to see where the story goes from here.
------------------------------
Ninja Gaiden 3

After a much needed break Ryu Hayabusa returns to form in what looks to be his greatest adventure yet. Id say I'm a moderately big ninja gaiden fan, so this one has my full attention especially since its team ninja's first attempt at making one without itagaki. From how things are shaping up now this seems to be a more intimate look at ryu as a character which is a much needed aspect the series could benefit from. The creators have said they want the player to feel the impact of each kill and know what its like to end an enemies life on a personal level, whether they pull this feat off remains to be seen but I'm interested to see how they pull it off.
------------------------------
Lollipop Chainsaw

Now this is what im talking about, over the top awesomness with a quirky vibe, id expect nothing less from the infamous suda 51 and grasshopper studios. Juliet is one cute zombie slayer, and i cant wait to tear things up with her at san romero high school. As an outlandish hack and slash this game kinda game out of nowhere last year, but its these kind of strange games that really have some of the biggest impact on me. I look forward to seeing more of this game and finding out what really makes it tick in due time.
--------------------------
The Last Gaurdian

I know there's no confirmation of this game for this year, but seriously this game absolutely has to come out this year. With all the delays and a few of the devs leaving many are worried about the future of this title. I love team ico games, so its definitely one of my most wanted games this gen, and at this point its almost taken an entire generation to see it come to fruition. Just seeing glimpses of this game gives me goosebumps, and more than anything i really want to see the fate and adventure this boy and his pet creature embark upon. Come on Sony, time is fleeting and this title desperately needs to see the light of day soon because with more time peoples interest in it may wane and thats something they dont need.
------------------------------
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

To think this game was almost dead on arrival is crazy, but it was just that, now its been ressurected like a phoenix. With Platinum games taking the reigns over from team kojima this title has everything going for it from the get go. I do wish we could have gotten the original vision planed for this title, but with everything ive seen of revengance im loving every bit. The combat looks fast and ferocious, which is quite the contrast from standard metal gear but then again this isnt the raiden that messed around back on the big shell. This has got to be my most anticpated game of the year, and for good reason since it sports all the flamboyant excessive atmosphere from DMC and baynetta all wrapped up in a cyborg ninja package. Heres hoping raidens solo adventure can deliver on the slicing awesomeness its promising.
------------------------------
Street Fighter X Tekken

Originally i had very little interest in this game, but with all the media and the more i learn about it the more i want to give it a shot. I havent cared about tekken since T3 (the last good one imo), so i have been hesitant, but the sheer amount of characters and modes seems to round out a pretty nice package. From Poison to Law this game will bost some of the best each of these series has to offer with a new mode that can manage to have 4 characters on screen at once which is awesome and chaotic as hell. Im looking to give this one a try, since ono and the street fighter team always deliver a good package, but please capcom do not release another version a year down the line, after MvsC3 i dont think i could take another blow like that. Also the addition of 5 extra characters to the PS3 version is also a nice bonus since most of the time PS3 owners get the shaft.
---------------------------------
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

After playing the first game in this series im convinced that this is the right direction for transformes games from here on out. High Moon Studios knows their bots (i even thought about applying to work there), so we can look forward to another awesome experience in the transformers universe from them. With this game we will get to play through the autobots leaving their homeworld in the wake of its destruction, and best of all I will get to play as my favorite transformer the legendary Dinobot Grimlock, who not only looks freaking awesome, he has a different type of gameplay from all the other characters so playing as him will be an experince like none of the others.
---------------------------
Luigi's Mansion 2

As my first gamecube title and probably likewise for many of you, the original luigi's mansion holds a special place in this old gamers heart. I dont think anyone saw this title coming when nintendo took to the stage at last years E3 press conference, but now im glad they decided to give the often forgetten luigi his second outing. Brought to us by the talented people at next level games (punch out wii) luig will get new life on the 3DS. Not much is known as of right now, but down the line this title should be something to look out for in this coming year.
---------------------------
One Piece: Pirate Warriors

First and foremost Im not holding my breath hoping this game will make it stateside, but since it is koei and they do love to bring everything they can over im still optimistic that this one will see the light of day (and i can still import it). As you all know im a huge One Piece fan and dynasty warriors is my guilty pleasure so combining these is the perfect recipe for awesome IMO. Playing through all the major events of one piece as a ton of characters is quite inticing, and it looks gorgeous too. Heres hoping we all get a chance to sail the grand line this year
----------------------
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

Another RE game? Yea it seems capcom is pulling out all the stops this year, i couldnt even fit revalations into this blog so it had to sit this one out. Never would i picture there to be a squad based RE game, but this one just might pull it off. Taking place during my favorite game in the series it picks up right as raccoon city starts its downward spiral. It has all the makings of an excellent title with its premise and gameplay, but can they pull it off? well see come march.
--------------------
Journey

While I don't have much to say on this title due to lack of info, i am really eager to check it out. Its one of those games that is just pleasing to look at and experience, and its one that's hard to explain why it looks so good. One of my friends asked me what i saw in the game since he didnt understand the games premise, but its just one of those things you have to enjoy for what it is and the simple aspects it does eloquently. This PSN title cant come soon enough.
-----------------------
Dragon's Crown

Vanillaware just does 2D better than most companies now a days, so when i saw their upcoming i was blown away. At first i was a bit worried since it looked to only be a ps vita title, but now it appears it will also make its way to the PS3 which pleases me greatly. It looks like it combines bits of many series in to one great package, like golden axe, gauntlet, muramasa and all the best parts of a beat em up game.
--------------------
Mario Party 9

Close to last but not least is a title in a long running series that needs no introduction. Mario Party has been around for a long time, and in that time my friends and I have had a blast playing everyone in the series for the past decade or so, and this one holds enough promise to keep us going for 10 more years. It will bost more than 80 new minigames and from the review ive read its a much needed breath of fresh air to the series so Im hoping it delivers the goods.
---------------
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of The White Witch

I seriously dont know how i missed putting this on here the first time around, this game looks fantastic. Being a big fan of miyazaki films this game looks like a real treat and visually its the most faithful representation of an anime in a game yet. Im not huge into RPG games, but for this beauty im gonna have to make an exception since it creates such an awesome world i want to see more of. Im so glad this one is coming stateside and it should be one collaboration that shouldn't be missed by any PS3 owner.

So there you have it people, my most anticipated games of 2012. I probably missed a few, but im sure a ton will get announced at E3 anyway so thats something to think about down the line.
Thanks as always for reading guys
