September Is Here...When Are The Good Games Coming Again?

Well, it's already September. The summer saw a few releases. Aside from the annual sports titles that rarely improve on anything but teams and graphics, Metal Gear Solid 4 came out, along with Mercenaries 2, Too Human, Disgaea 3, so on. Now, I currently own Disgaea 3 and Metal Gear Solid 4. Disgaea 3 is not the best in the series, but it does feed that SRPG lust I have. Plus, it's an SRPG with several hundred hours worth of gameplay involved. Plenty to try and keep me busy for now. As for Metal Gear Solid 4, I'm on my third playthrough and now I'm switching to the Normal difficulty. It's kind of my plan to TRY and complete it on all 5 game modes. And you do learn as you go. But the problem is MGS4 came out in JUNE, and people are still playing it. And Disgaea 3 isn't for everyone, of course. So when are the good games coming?

Too Human never interested me for a second, so I don't see why people wasted their money on this graphically poor and badly constructed game. These guys, Silicon Knights, have blamed Epic Games for releasing a poor build of Unreal Engine 3, which is one of the most intense graphics engines for the next gen gaming consoles, to them around the time the 360 released. In 2006, it gave them a bad build of the game, causing Too Human to not be demonstrated at that E3, so Gears of War nabbed the spot. Now, I see why. Graphics alone...Too Human's cinematic graphics are worse than the GAMEPLAY graphics of Gears of War. And from what I've seen, the game performs poorly. The last time I played a game that disappointed me this badly was Unlimited Saga from Square Enix for the PS2...

Mercenaries 2, however, I can agree with. The first one was fun. And LucasArts, when they're not making multiple Star Wars spinoffs or Thrillville, can produce some decent games with the right crews. Merc's 2 still isn't my kind of game though. I'd play it, but I wouldn't want to own it. Doesn't mean anyone shouldn't try to get the game. At least the Co-Op'd be as good as what Army of Two had.

At least September should be a good month. There's Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which I heard good things about the demo that's available (I hate not having internet connections in my room!). And then October has Fable 2 and Fallout 3. And the PS3 remake of Eternal Sonata. And then Gears of War 2 is November bound with Resistance 2. Now that I realize it, it's a big year because so many sequels are coming out. Well, hope everyone enjoys whatever they're playing!

Fall Is Almost Here, As Are The Late 2008 Releases...

Now the proud owner of a PS3, 360, and DS, I feel like I've got a nice versatile lineup of consoles. With two of the big consoles out of the way, no console exclusive title for either the PS3 or 360 will escape my line of fire. Right now, I've got my Fall and Winter Lineups planned out, and with my last semester of college left, it's going to be the roughest. So, I'll have hardly any time to fully enjoy the games I have show up during that time. That'll make December the best month for me. Here's the following I'm truly waiting on, that I expect to be great:

PS3: Star Wars The Force Unleashed (September 16) , Fallout 3 (October 28, sadly)

    360: Fable 2 (October 21) , Gears of War 2 (November 7)

DS: Dragon Quest 4 (September 16) , Disgaea DS (September 23) , Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure (Also September 23), Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood (September 30), Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (October 22) , Chrono Trigger (November 25th)

Note: The DS games are mostly remake s that people have enjoyed before, so we know those will be good. Should worry more about the new titles that are coming out.

As you can see, there's quite a lot in mind. I already got Disgaea 3 on its release date, and I'm speculating between Tales of Vesperia and Infinite Undiscovery for the start of September. It'll depend on reviews, really. So, in a couple of months, I'll try to make another post as long as my schedule doesn't get out of hand with work, school, and recreation.

June's Coming Around, As Is a New Game System For Me...

I recently went by my local gamestop. At a whim of finding out about a special trade in deal, I got rid of my PSP, the library I had for it (of games), and all but two of my xbox 360 games, and I accumulated about 400 bucks in credit. To my surprise, I also learned that on June 12th, Sony was going to not only release Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the Playstation 3, but that they were going to release a Limited Edition Bundle composed of: an 80 GB Playstation 3 in Gunmetal Gray (or is it Grey?) color, a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4, one of the brand new Dual Shock 3 controllers for the system, and a free download voucher for this PSN (Playstation Network) title known as Pain. Now, I was skeptical about getting a PS3 for a while because it was both expensive and not many exclusives were out for it that I wanted to play. But I had a revelation. since I also own a Playstation 2 system, I saw that Gamestop was doing a 'trade in, trade up' deal, so to speak. If you trade in a Playstation 2 system with an additional working controller and a memory card, instead of getting roughly 45-50 bucks credit, if you trade them in toward the purchase of a PS3 system before June 8th, you will instead receive 80 bucks credit. That is where I had my revelation. With the idea that I could potentially get an 80 GB Playstation 3 system with a widely renowned game and the backwards compaitibility to play my old PS1/2 games...also add in free online gaming with PS3 titles, Wi-Fi capabilities pending you have a wireless router nearby with internet handy...and I figure 20, 30 bucks will be worth the price out of pocket. Now, I know the bundle releases June 12th, and the trade deal ends on June 8th, but I'm sure I'll figure something out. I could always buy a 40 GB and return it the day of MGS4's release and swap it for the 80. But if anybody agrees with me that getting a PS3 at this point is the perfect time, then I'm going to do it. I also love my 360 to death, but I'm still gonna keep that so I can enjoy the exclusives both systems have to offer. =)
