    Update and in Tune

A week after the double red ring, and the box is still going strong.  Who knows, maybe it was feeling under appreciated or it didn't like which way i chose to go on oblivi... whatever the reason, it's being awefully nice to me now, even after i put the sledge away...hmmm

But in other news, Guitar Hero 2's beating me senseles... or at least my hands.. if you haven't played it before, and you think you might have some skill with the fingers, definitely give it a go round..it's totally worth the price of the admission...think of it as the price of a game and a #30 controller, instead of just a $90 package, it helps... really...

But i have to say the only downside i've really found so far is, after this thing beats you tar out of you song after song, you feel like you should honestly at least know how to play some guitar by the end...stupid buttons that don't mean a thing on a real guitar....lol

April 2, 2007...the red ring scare

The sky was spotless, the stars shimmered like bits of broken glass as the full moon peered down, watching the residents below as once again it would wreak havoc on all below it.

There i sat, last night, charging through the realms of the shivering isles, helping the golden saints in their petty squabble with the dark seducers (which started out trying to make the golden saints believe i was their friend and then chopping away at them while they were busy beating up the other team, but that didn't work so hot), all to light the alters of dispair and dimentia, save the world and all the good things that come with that.  So moving on without anymore spoilers... I was victorious!!!  or at least, i thought... All happy go lucky that i reached another achievy, i saved and figured i'd call it a night...   but what was it? that i powered off without going to the main menu, or that my 360 was just in a pissy mood?  Who knows, but instead of shutting off like it's supposed to.. the screen went blank and i saw that dreaded thing that'll bring most men to tears... the 'red ring of death' .   Sure it fit into the plan of MS killing boxes as the new Elite came out.. but it was 3 weeks ahead of schedule..  so with my fingers slightly trembling and my heartrate slowly starting to pound, i reached down and powered up the pricey little gadget again...  and yes..it... did it again!!!!....   i held back the tears, and not a thing was thrown, as i silently sat there for a moment in silence thiking to myself.. 'figures, i knew it was coming sooner or later'  as i shut it off again...but at least i had my achievy for the night, so it wasn't a total loss..lol...   when 10 mins later, calculating the price of a new elite in my head, and feeling the small drop in my stomach from it, for old time sake i pressed the big silvery button on my controller one last time....  except this time, just like usual, instead of the 'red ring' there was the uplifting, 'green ring of not having to drop another 500' once again, looking at me like "just kidding".

Will it last?  was there just enough juice for my little box to come up green that one last time?  Did it turn on, green, just to be funny one last time?  I guess only time will tell, and whenever i get home tonight and press that haunting button, one more time...again....

    Denied or not... It's coming

Between things like, Duke Nukem being reconfirmed in developement, Armored Core and Earth Defense force both coming out (i think i'm going pass on both), this is turning into a little bit of a busy week in gaming goodness.

But in other news, that dirty little rumor that's been popping up here and there for the last 6 months seems to be getting a little closer to the truth with every sighting... friend to some, a kick between the legs to other, it seems like the xbox 360 v.2 is soon to be on the way.  I'm sure everyone knows the skinny by now.. hdmi, bigger harddrive, all in black etc. etc.

I dont know, if i had a super happy tv, and some miraculous connection where i could stream a movie on it......then i might..... well.. then actually, i'd probably be rich and wouldn't care about dropping down anything $460 for the new model.  Buuuuut as it is, i'm not rich, yet... and my current one's working mostly just fine...  so i think i'm going to be holding onto v.1 until MS decides to run some code down xbl that fries it out and makes that decision for a new one, for me....
