Ex-gamespot addict.
I feel bad that gamespot isn't my single choice of gaming news, reviews, and videos; at a time it was. I did vist other websites but everything that was solid always came from gamespot. Well thats what I thought at least. I find myself visiting other gaming review websites, primarily Giant Bomb(dot)com but thats beacuse of Jeff and Ryan do provide the gaming expertiese/hilarity I've grown to love. I never ever really took into account other videogame website and magazine reivews to have some merit to them. I felt that gamespot was the one and only source for honest, true, quality standard gaming review and news source. It was creditibilty that gamespot had.
The credibility gamespot HAS is tarnished. It took something rotten(Ryan Davis's, Alex Navarro's, Brad Shoemaker's and to some extent Rich Gallup's resignations) and idiotic(Jeff Gerstmann's firing) to give me a wider range of video game opinion's and news.
Sounds like a good thing, but I feel bad I feel unloyal and foolish. Unloyal beacuse I don't really visit this site anymore. I don't listen to the podcasts and I don't watch the videos as freqently. I'm also now comparing these scores with plenty of scores of other gaming sites. I feel foolish beacuse I didn't compare scores AND reviews with gamespots own before this all happened. If something at gamespot can go wrong at gamespot(Gerstmanngate) then surely things go right at other websites. Just a thought.

Second blog, and strangly enough its about another now ex-gamespot empolyee
Gamespot, Cnet, who ever has the job of firing and hiring staff, you shot yourself in the damn foot today. Gamespot has such a following because of its reviewers. Why would you fire one of the top reviewers, and a person who brought tons of traffic to the site with his appearances on the Hot Spot & hosting On The Spot. Gerstmann was well-liked, respected, and just plain entertaining. If the rumors are true then I can plainly see why you fired him, dollars and cents(youB1tched out cause you were afraid you were going to lose them). Well good job Cnet, Gamespot, "The Man", you ****ing did it this time, I will not re-new my subscription.- Posted Nov 30, 2007 3:56 am GMT
