Goodbye Gamespot
After being a resident on Gamespot for about 5 years, I have decided that it is my time to leave here. I won't go into the reasons here but I knew this time would come eventually.
I appreciate the cyber friends and aquaintances that I made here.
I hope you all had a good Christmas and I wish you a Happy New Year!

Goodbye.

Don't be a fan boy
As some of you know, I am a gamer of advanced age in my early 40s. That makes me a veteran gamer around here. My first game system was not the NES, but the Atari 2600 way back in the early 1980s. I first started playing video games at around the age of 10. That would give me a whopping 30 years of video game experience!
One piece of advice I can give to all of you is not to be a fan boy of a particular video game company. My choice of video game consoles were always based on the games that game system provided the most of. For example, it's easy to be a Nintendo fan boy when the NES and SNES were around because they provided a lot of games. But when Nintendo 64 and Gamecube came, it would not be easy to just stick to Nintendo because there were more games available for Playstation, PS2, and Xbox.
The game system I have now is the Wii because I like the games available for it. But if Nintendo releases another system that doesn't do very good, then I will most likely get one of the other system made either by Microsoft, Sony or another company.
Another thing I've learned is that you don't have to have the latest technology in order to have fun. This is what Nintendo has learned. For example, the Wii is not as advanced as the Xbox 360 and PS3, yet many people still find it fun to play. Also, the Nintendo DS has lots of 2D games for it that many people still find fun to play, outselling Sony's more advanced PSP.

Christmas dinner killed my vegetarianism
As some of you may know, I became a lacto-ovo vegetarian. But after 2 years of practicing it, I've decided to give it up. After being invited to a few Christmas dinners where there is no vegetarian option, I've decided to eat turkey.
Don't get me wrong. I still like vegetarian food and I think it's still good for a diet to be predominately plant-based. I just don't think I can eat it exclusely anymore.
