Battlefield Heroes Beta
Here we go, a blog post about BF:Heroes. Recently, through Gamespot, I received a beta key for access to the game. After receiving the beta key, I began installing the game. The download took around an hour to complete on Comcast, and after it finished I began creating my "hero".
Ok, so here's how the game starts. Similarly to many online games, you pick a "faction" (WoW being a great example). The 2 factions here resemble the British and the Germans, but right now they seem pretty much the same. After you pick your faction, you choose your class. Since I don't remember the specific names of the classes, I'll define them by their use. You have your tank, balanced, and sniper. The tank has lots of health and sports automatic weapons and shotguns. The balanced hero uses similar weapons, but is faster and has less health. The sniper (which is the class that I play) has very low health, but is very fast, has a cloaking ability, and uses a knife as his standard weapon. All the other classes only use guns, but the sniper has a combat knife and a sniper rifle.
Anyways, once the game begins, you can look through menus (which aren't helpful until you win a few matches) and listen to the epic music. To start a match, you click the button in the top right of the screen, which will start a connection process. Once it finds a game that is similar to your rank and level, you will be thrust into battle. Overall, I have found it easy to find a game, but it freaks out my computer from time to time. After every time I quit the game, I have to restart my computer because it loses the ability to surf the web. The wireless signal that is sent through my router still works fine, which makes me believe that it's just a weird coding issue. Once you start a game, it's pretty much the same as any Battlefield game, but cartoon-like and third person. There is some lag, but on most servers it is fine.
Things I want for the future:
-Server List (So we can find ones that we ping lower to).
-Kick system (I'm not sure if there is one already...).
-More weapons (This will happen, but it is rather annoying right now to have the choice between only a few weapons). -

Wii Motion Plus
After watching the new video for Wii Motion Plus, I have a feeling that it could be really awesome. I'm officially stoked for Red Steel 2, however. The first one was average, but didn't live up to its potential. Also, the first one left a lot to be desired.
With Wii Motion Plus, RS2 could be amazing, as could any other game. What scares me, however, is that they might make poor use of it and ruin the concept altogether. A new Legend of Zelda game, Red Steel 2, Wii Sports Resort, etc. could all be awesome, but third party developers could kill it.
