  Anyway MERRY CHRISTMAS! Hope you all got the presents you wanted and hada great time. I didn't post this blog earlier because I've been visiting relatives a lot of the time and haven't been able to get my hands on the computer. Sorry.

  My GOTY Awards 2009!

  Welcome to my game of the year awards 2009!(Just) Ok, so I know about 95% of you are going to disagree with these picks, but as I said last time it's just my opinion and I'm not asking you to hate a game you like or to like a game you hate or anything, just hear me out. Thanks.

  Best Downloadable game:

  LOSTWINDS: WINTER OF MELLODIAS!

  Lavish Graphics, innovative gameplay and great physics are what makes this my fave downloadable title of 09.

  SUPER MARIO!

  Old is the new with this fella, and that's why he's my character of the year, giving old school fans a chance to relive what they love. Not to mention he's got an entirely new game being released next year as a sequel to one of the best games ever.

  CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 2!

  Intense action with fluid gameplay and a fast framerate are fantastic. As well as the georgus textures, and high res explosions all over the joint make this the obvious choice.

  MURAMASA: THE DEMON BLADE!

  By far the most beautiful game to ever be released in my opinion. Every thing in the game is hand painted with extreme detail and it all pays of in the end with some of the best backgrounds ever seen in a game.

  Best Story:

  Assassins Creed 2

  Halo 3: ODST

  Professor Layton and Pandoras box

  Mario and Luigi: Bowsers inside story

  AND THE WINNER IS...

  

  PROFESSOR LAYTON AND PANDORAS BOX!

  Full of twists, turns, U-turns and even some roundabouts are what make this one of the most involving and head scratching plots of the year. Vampires, anyone?

  AND THE WINNER IS...

  

  THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: SPIRIT TRACKS!

  Almost every piece of music in this game is from scratch and all of it is fantastic, and fits in with the games atmosphere perfectly, as well as being awesome Zelda music in itself, which is saying a lot considering Zelda's track history.

  Best use of a license

  X-men Origins: Wolverine

  Batman: Arkham Asylum

  Lego Indiana Jones 2: The adventure continues

  Naruto: Clash of Ninja revolution 2

  The Beatles: Rock Band

  AND THE WINNER IS...

  

  A dark game for a dark knight. Making use of the most iconic landmark in the Batman series, and the most iconic villain too. Many enemies from the comics have been included too, for all the fans out there not getting what they want.

  2-nil to the best game not many of you played. Georgus visuals and presentation, insanely fast, frantic combat, extreme specials and 2 stories! All for just £25! What are you waiting for!?

  THE SABOTEUR!

  EA's latest Grand theft auto beater, and though perhaps not hitting the mark in some peoples books it's by far the closest a game has ever come! Great visuals, clever ideas and everything you could want from a violent 3D open world game.

  GRAND THEFT AUTO: EPISODES FROM LIBERTY CITY!

  Sorry, but it just doesn't work for me.Stupid weapon controls, and if you ask me far too much of the games are focused on sex and drugs where it should be on heart pumping exitement.

  HALO 3: ODST!

  There's no denying that Halo 3: ODST is a great game, but with a 5 hour campaign, the same old multiplayer and no new weapons or vehicles whatsoever it was hard not to be disappointed when this arrived. Nothing was here for the long term Halo 3 players.

  Hannah Montanna: The movie

  Tony Hawk: Ride

  WHEELSPIN!

  Play for 5 minutes, trade in at your local store until some other idiot comes in and buys it for cheap. This seems to be the philosophy behind the development of Wheelspin. The game has N64 level graphics, terrible physics and impossibly stupid respawn points. Aswell as the fact that whether you get over a loop or not (of which there are many) depends totally on luck. A disaster of a game, epecially when you keep in mind was made by Bethesda, the guys behind The elder scrolls: Oblivion and Fallout 3.

  Link had to be character of the year for this one. He's had the fantastic Spirit tracks released for DS a few weeks back and is even going to be in a fully fledged home console Zelda game within the next 2 years! Both of these were announced in the same year too! Something that never seems to happen with Nintendo's big brand names.

  Call of duty modern warfare 2

  CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 2!

  Great cinematic gameplay, amazing graphics, fantastic vehicle sections and an all new special ops mode are just some of the things that make this my game of the year. I stick to my word that I think other than the vehicle sections the campaign though fun is far too short and doesn't do anything new with the series which is a huge disappointement, but the multiplayer makes up for its short comings in leaps and bounds, making some of the best online gameplay ever.

  THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: SPIRIT TRACKS!

  The Zelda team have done it again, not just proving that Nintendo is the best for landmark series but also that Zelda is still the best in its league.This game has great controls utilising all of the DS's capabilities, graphics that push the system to the limit and gameplay that can't be seen anywhere else. He may be an old codger but Mr Triforce is still showing the young'ins how it's done.

  MURAMASA: THE DEMON BLADE!

  I'm sure people are going to hate me for this but it's just astonishing how much I love this game. The graphics are beautiful, with everything in the game being hand drawn and painted. Then there are the great stories with interwine with Rogue Ninja Kisuke and Possessed Princess Momohime, each are both choca-blocked full of some of the fastest, most frantic, intense action that has ever been seen to date. A game in a league of it's own.

  NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. Wii!

  A blast from the past. Mario returns in an old school helping of question blocks and Goomba's in a love letter from Nintendo for their long time fans. It's just as great as ever too. You'll get frustrated by it, you'll want chuck your remote on the floor because of it, but that'll just make you like it even more. A worthy reason in itself why New Super Mario Bros.Wii is my game of the year.

  My GoTY awards shortlist

  Welcome to my Game of the year awards shortlist! I'll be posting the games up for entry on my game of the year awards sometime between December 25-December 30.I'll say now that there isn't any PS3 specificgames on here as I don't own a PS3 so obviously don't know much about their games.
